Am I the only one who teared up at the beginning of this video? I just lost my step dad recently and we did the 'going through his stuff' thing. It was very comforting but so hard at the same time! So to see Erin talk so lovingly about a parent holding on to their children's homemade gifts only to have it come back around full circle really hit home! Great video, as always!! Have a fantastic weekend y'all!

This video is wonderful. What an incredible trip to Peter’s studio, Erin. That intro was beyond touching. The entire thing makes my heart sing. Thank you for the lovely shout out. I’m truly touched. And I’m excited to order more pots now! Shocking! 😂 Thank you Peter for continuing styles and traditions that make your work so special and timeless. You make it look easy, I know it’s quite daunting. Thank you Erin for capturing this and keeping this type of special art alive. 💜

Sorry to hear of Mr. More Patient's mom passing on... what a sweet story that she saved his little peice of art made with love with his own hands. Thank you for taking us on a field trip... I could watch him make pottery all day, and then the next day, too! Reminds me of when I took pottery in college. There's just something about handmade things. I had to rewind to see the doggie again... so cute/funny!

🍁When I lived in Wisconsin I loved going to Cambridge so much! Thanks for the memories. And isn’t it wonderful that your dear mother-in-law cherished her son’s tiny hands’ work on the little pot all those years. I, too, have a treasure my son made! Love and memories come in all different shapes and sizes, but they always fit perfectly inside our hearts. 🌻🧡

This is just beautiful on so many levels. My grandmother was a potter for years, and I have one of her clay sculptures in the garden; it's a 'crone,'; she was a feminist/artist; they broke the mold when they made her. Before quarantine, I started taking a class, throwing my own pots, and hearing her voice in my head. I can't wait to get back to that. For now, I'm just hoping to eke out more time in the dirt before winter. Art and gardens go together like peanut butter and jelly. Thanks for your videos.

When our kids were little, we used to make an annual summer trip to the Wisconsin Dells for them, and to Cambridge for pottery for me. (I have several Wisconsin Pottery pieces from those years.) I just got my very first pot from Wakefield this month - I was influenced by Laura at How's It Growing! Such fun to see this video! Thanks for sharing your field trip!
@sallyrichardson40824 жыл бұрын
Wasn’t that fun! I picked up a piece of Wakefield as well recently after seeing Laura’s video about her pots. With winter coming I didn’t want to put a plant in it, so I put a silk arrangement in it. I can enjoy it all winter, then decide if I want to put it out in the garden. It’s the most beautiful golden color, and goes beautifully in my dining room. Thank you both so much for educating us about Wakefield pottery.

You’re absolutely right. Art and gardening go hand in hand. I’m an art conservator and an art dealer. Most people think I must be an artist (nope). Where I create beauty is in my garden. Much more challenging using nature’s palette. It’s ever changing, ever growing...much more interesting than a static painting.

Yes, I've seen him on Laura's also at the time. Pottery is a lovely art. Peter is a nice calm man as he would be, working on his own and loving what he does. Enjoyed this field trip very much my great great grandparents came from Norway and settled in Cambridge their home is now a bed-and-breakfast I think it’s called the Victorian their names were Hans & Karen Olson. Another set of great great grandparents lived in Albion which is near Cambridge. Several descendants of these great great grandparents also lived in the area. On my last visit I visited the Rowe pottery store and purchase some items that I just love. I would like more pieces. On my next visit I will check out the Wakefield pottery. I see that they have stores next-door to each other maybe Wakefield wasn’t open the day we were visiting. I have been watching your videos for a very long time but not one that comments very often. I’m from northern Minnesota upon the Canadian border and so appreciate all that you share with us. Thank you and have a blessed day.

Yup, this is the guy who collaborated with Guy Wolff in the 90's (see About section on website). I had a prized 20+ year old pot from these 2 (bought at Seattle Smith&Hawken) which a repairman just broke in my garden this summer! I was so distraught and chewed the repairman's head off. Not so much because he broke it, but because he tossed it in the garbage. I use every shard of it still in the landscape.
