Goodness! Baby oil technique! I've not used THAT in over 50 years; when I used wax colours to create stained glass window - full size - which I then soaked in baby oil b4 adding to the windows of my father's house. The wax crayons created an opacity that shone through the night.

What a marvelous use for eye liner and lip liner pencils-that was truly inspired. Baby oil is made from mineral oil, so if you don’t want to have to immerse yourself in baby oil smell, you can buy a cheap bottle of mineral oil.

How did you think to try baby oil? What a magical affect! I wonder would glycerine create a similar outcome??? Beautiful page. As a side note, I had a years old dried stamp pad and added methylated spirits. Voila - completely regenerated ink and still using the stamp pad. AUSTRALIA - ANNETTE. 🙏🙏🙏💜🙏🙏🙏

You can seal with a spray. Gesso is not a sealant

Not everything oily needs a fixative. Oil pastels are oil based and water resistant and chalk pastels are chalk and water reactive

since I let the papers absorb the oil overnight there wasn't a problem gluing them

other crafters have tried this and found that it seeps, leaks and stains other things and prevents adhesives from adhering. Resin works and doesn''t seem onto other papers, media and can be adhered to other media.
