Very well taught. But, question: Why are we learning this stuff in grade school? Instead of other number related skills like: how to balance a statement or check book, what a mortgage is, avoiding debt, trading stocks, currency exchange, depreciation, compound interest, investing etc. Asking for a friend. In this Parallelogram, Angle D is equal to Angle B because it is a property of a parallelogram that opposite angles are congruent.

Thank you for this! But I have 1 question, When you were trying to prove the quadrilateral to be a parallelogram, I understand that they give you the opposite angles are equal. But then how did you figure out that you had to do 2x+2y=360? I mean I understand that the angles have to be 360, but what's the reason behind doing that? What went through your head to figure out that In order to prove the lines are parallel, I have to use 2x+2y=360? Thank you again!

It's because they are parallel, try (in your head) sliding the AB edge to line up with DC and hopefully you notice that the angle with AD is the same. Then extend the AD segment and notice that the angle at D is the same as the complementary angle at A, which is 139°. Hope that helps
