For me there’s so many things wrong with the whole ‘Jesus being the son of god’ or ‘Jesus being God’ claim. Like first you have to prove beyond doubt that god exists. Then you have to prove that Jesus existed. Then you have to prove there’s an actual tangible link between the two. How can anyone actually claim that Jesus is or is not the son of god if you cannot prove that either of them existed in the first place? It’s like me saying I have a real life pet dragon who is the son of Smaug

Christianity began as sun worship, the stories about Jesus are symbolic. He is just a personification of the sun, made into a god figure later on. The sun "dies" for 3 days on December 22nd, the winter solstice, when it stops its movement south, to be born again or resurrected on December 25th, when it resumes its movement north. In some areas, the calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin" The sun rising in the morning is "the saviour of mankind" The sun is "The light of the World" The sun "walks on water" is just the reflection of the sun on water/the sea. "He cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him", is just sun rays. Jesus' "crown of thorns" is just the sun's glare, also know as a halo. The sun's "followers", "helpers" or "disciples" are the 12 months and the 12 signs of the zodiac or constellations, through which the sun must pass. The sun at 12 noon is in the house or temple of the "Most High": thus.."he" begins "his Father's work" at "age" 12. The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30 degrees, hense, the "Sun of God" begins his ministry at "age" 30. The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified", which represents its passing through the equinoxes. The vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is then resurrected. The reason why saviour myths are so similar with a godman who is crucified and resurrected, who does miracles and has 12 disciples, is that these stories were based on the movements of the sun through the heavens, an astrotheological development that can be found throughout the planet, because the sun and the 12 zodiac signs can be observed around the globe. In other words, Jesus Christ and all the others upon whom this character is predicated are personifications of the sun, and the Gospel fable is merely a rehash of a mythological formula revolving around the movements of the sun through the heavens.

It seems to me Art’s argument about Jesus is valid. Jesus failed to clearly teach the way of salvation. Rather, he taught so poorly that Christian denominations teach different, contradictory ways of salvation. Are you Catholic? If Baptists who say Catholics and Mormons aren’t saved are right, you’re going to hell. Are you Baptist? If Catholics are right and you don’t have a Catholic baptism, you’re going to hell. Other Christian denominations say both Catholics and Baptists are going to hell. So, Jesus failed to clearly teach the way of salvation. I don’t see what’s so hard to understand about the argument.

I think the hosts missed his point. His logic points to the fact that given the doctrines of each religion, that all PRESUPPOSES the existence of God and Jesus, their way of salvation is “wrong”. Any god that created us knowing ahead of time we would disobey him and he would have to drown most of us, is a cruel, unimaginable monster. Why anyone would worship that thing is beyond me. Also a god would not need disease to maintain population control, you would just die when he wanted you too. There would be no need for 1 in 4 pregnancies to end in miscarriage, what possible reason would a god have for letting women get pregnant only to not go to full term, other than he enjoys watching them grieve. @gdevelek you're close, it's at _absurdum._ But the whole thing is too narrowly focused: *_if_* you start with the premise that jesus came to give use a clear way to anything, then indeed he couldn't have been god. But now you have to take the extra step: DID HE come for that purpose? Btw, you can similarly take the "if his prayer was accurately recorded in john 17:20-23, he couldn't have been god..." approach, but now what? There's plenty of reasons why the premise might be false... Guess it at least shows the bible isn't perfect, so that's a piece of a brick out of the wall, but there's a whole lot more remaining. :-|

Christianity began as sun worship, the stories about Jesus are symbolic. He is just a personification of the sun, made into a god figure later on. "He cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him", is just sun rays. Jesus' "crown of thorns" is just the sun's glare, also know as a halo. The sun's "followers", "helpers" or "disciples" are the 12 months and the 12 signs of the zodiac or constellations, through which the sun must pass. The sun at 12 noon is in the house or temple of the "Most High": thus.."he" begins "his Father's work" at "age" 12. The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30 degrees, hense, the "Sun of God" begins his ministry at "age" 30. The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified", which represents its passing through the equinoxes. The vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is then resurrected. The reason why saviour myths are so similar with a godman who is crucified and resurrected, who does miracles and has 12 disciples, is that these stories were based on the movements of the sun through the heavens, an astrotheological development that can be found throughout the planet, because the sun and the 12 zodiac signs can be observed around the globe. In other words, Jesus Christ and all the others upon whom this character is predicated are personifications of the sun, and the Gospel fable is merely a rehash of a mythological formula revolving around the movements of the sun through the heavens.

What I find more intrinsically interesting is the (admittedly unscientific) idea that the most archetypal/collective mythological symbols are perhaps, in some kind of way, genetically inherited. What I found most fascinating about certain older schools of Psychoanalysis is the fact that the most basic rubric of Freudian and Jungian dream analysis, in particular, isn't reliant so much on an understanding of esoteric psychological jargon, but far more so on an understanding of the symbols of myths and fairy tales. That stuff is, again, implicitly unscientific and nebulous, but really interesting. Comparative Mythology makes no absolute conclusions in itself, but seems to back a vague idea that human beings carry a kind of ancient psychologically genetic "codex" of these symbols in their psyche that are universally inherited, and therefore, regardless of geographical, or historical context, the "specificity" in similarities of religious/mythological/folk symbols can be very acute. It's just a fun thing to think about.

Jesus was the sacrifice of Cain. Here is why: 1. Under the Law of Moses, a sacrificial animal was supposed to be blemish free. Jesus was beaten up by the Romans. 2. The people offering the sacrifice should be repentant. The people who offered up Jesus wanted him executed as a blasphemer. 3. The sacrificial ritual was supposed to be performed by a clean Levite priest. Jesus was killed by non-Levite soldiers who worshipped idols. This is why Jesus yelled "Father! why have you forsaken me?" Father God rejected him as a sacrifice, the same way he rejected Cain's sacrifice.

Christian mythology explains that before Jesus we were all without hope of salvation. Jesus came and performed an atoning sacrifice so we can overcome our lost condition and gain eternal life through faith in him (John 3:16). This applies to everyone, regardless of what different sects think about who gets to be saved and who doesn't. But this is about as useful as to argue if Prometheus was right to defy the will of Zeus.
