Love the video as always. Been thinking about melting some aluminum pans haven't found any videos on it so is it a viable source for aluminum? They are easy to get and can add up on weight any input to this

Awesome, just awesome. I always wondered which casting method you prefer. Sand or plaster?
@michael66193 жыл бұрын
Nice!!! Is there any reason for casting the holes at all? Would it be stronger to cast whole then drill? Or doesn't make a difference?

Out of curiosity: at the bottom of the ingot, what causes it to sink or indent in the middle?

Hey bud. I was hoping you could help. I've been attempting to cast a 3-D hand of my son and I've found it to be very difficult. The best method I've found is buying the quick set powder stuff that starts pink and turns white and hard. Then I fill that void with molten wax. Then I remove the "rubber" stuff from the wax "casting". Then I make the mold with sand and used the wax hand to make the final mold. Then once hard I melt out the wax. We're using tin. But with so many transfers from material to material the final casting isn't as detailed as we'd like. Do you know of any material that can withstand tin temps and still capture the detail? Or can you think of a better way because this is the best I've worked out so far. Thanks for your time.
@ArtByAdrock3 жыл бұрын
You’ll want to use investment plaster and then melt out the wax. Sand casting won’t produce the results you want. 👍🏻 hope that helps

If you cast those in brass you can peen the entire surface causing it to work-harden (it'll leave a nice texture too)
