I journaled constantly through my childhood and teen years- then my mom read my diary and I haven’t been able to write and feel safe since. This video has inspired me to work through that wound and start journaling again. It may take some time to feel completely safe on the page again, but I think it’ll be worth it! Thank you for this video!

Oh wow, that's not an okay thing to do... I'm sorry that happened to you. 😳 I get scared off from journaling somtimes at the mere thought of someone reading. Maybe we should get ourselves little safes to lock our journals in? 😅

I know, a safe seems silly, if you don't have jewels... but it actually is not a bad thing to have in case of fire or flood, I'm thinking about getting one for my journals and important documents

My dad did the same thing! For many other reasons, we no longer speak. 😂 just know that your mom was WRONG and her doing that was about her insecurity and she violated your privacy. I hope you can find joy in your journal again.

So sorry about that. That happened to me when I was about 12, and it really effected me because I loved to write and it could have helped so much with my mental health at the time. It’s only now as a 60 year old woman that I am able to take my power back and start journaling again. And nowI I don’t care who wants to read my journals, I put all my truths in it. And now I do it with beautiful fountain pens. I hope that you can take your power back. Much love to you.

I used to write journals, but haven’t touched my note book for a year, almost. I was so busy and burnt out for a while that I don’t even know what am I feeling anymore, thus afraid to face all the unorganized things that are internally going on… this video really encouraged me to pick it up again, thank you 🩶

I've been journaling consistently for 5+ years. Always in a notebook for me. I buy whatever notebook strikes me at any given time. I jour AL about life, about good and bad, questions I have, rage and anger, when my heart hurts, when I'm frustrated... I journal about everything. I also have journals for my fiction writing, for career questions, story ideas. I have a gratitude journal. I journal pretty much daily. Sometimes for a few minutes and a page or two, sometimes for longer and ten pages. Journaling is how I let out how I'm feeling, what's bothering me, what's keeping me going or blocking me. It's my therapy. And I always feel better when I can get the shit out of my head and into the page... The good and bad.

This video is so helpful. I am a landscape photographer and am in the thick of making a book about photography in the Namib Desert. As it is a self-publishing book, there are so many aspects to consider and I really wonder what I have taken on. This video has helped me to stay calm, to get focused, and get journaling specifically about this project. I make extensive notes in the field about what I experience and how the photography is going. I had not considered writing a journal about a project until now. This will help get my mind in order which in turn will get me back on track. I think I was meant to find this video - thank you so much

I use my journals for sketching and for practicing my handwriting. The act of repetitive writing and pattern drawing is my version of mindfulness activity 😊 I feel much more collected and calm afterward and I've kept the practice up for two years now! Thanks for this great video! I'm inspired 😊

I have not ever been one to journal in 32 years of life and I recently started and feel like my mind can finally relax a little! It is truly life changing and amazing for discovering myself deeper and growing as a person :) Thanks for sharing your experience!

I tried journaling before but I really didn’t have a reason to. However, I’m this time of my life it has become a need. I think adding art to it will make it fun for me. Thank you for this video.

I just discovered your page, and I have never connected to something so much regarding the content you discuss in your videos. I am just beginning my art journey/ rediscovering my love of art. I used to draw all the time when I was in school, but I set it aside because I was too busy with school that I forgot what it means to do something you love. I've been rediscovering writing, painting, drawing, etc.

I have only one journal - and this is my mobile calculator - the day I get my salary and the very second day - all expenses which cut down my all salary in a few hours 🤣😋 But most of the time I live into my "NOTHING BOX"

I relate to so much of what you said. I used to write morning pages (stream of consciousness) frequently while I was in kind of a bad period of life, they really helped me gain clarity and peace. Also sometimes I write a mix between a journaling session and a short story from a third person which kind be used as a way of processing but also a way of romanticising everyday moments. I just found your channel and I really enjoy watching your videos, you have really peaceful vibe ❤️

Loved this video. I have many notebooks and journals that I use but don't have alot of time to write. Last year I discoverd an Australian artist by the name of Dan Scott and on his blog he has an article about the artist Marie Bashkirtseff who apparently was also a prolific writer and kept a diary since she was 13. I had to search for this article again because I forgot her name but it definately inspired me to start journaling again. Also much of her work was destroyed, but you can find some of her entries online and there is also a book.

I use to journal A LOT as a kid, was like writing really detailed lists of what was going on. Dont journal now mostly because I always forget to, but I should put something on my phone to use since my phone is usually near me (mostly because I fall a lot lol)

How can one like a video more then one time? Pretty please. I watched it a couple of days ago while finishing Cal Newport book and being in a kinda revival period of my journaling experience. Somehow I tended to think that I have to do it everyday to do it properly. And somehow you found the right words to explain to me the variety of options. I will finish a journal which I started 7 years ago pretty soon. It has my struggles with having the first dog, the first child, going through pandemic and now through this last two months horror. It will try to keep the object - the journal - as a memory. I almost never reread my journals as I whine like crazy in them often haha. But I think that it is absolutely brilliant instrument for everything! Now more then ever, when somehow we are expected to show off everything that we have inside. I always thought it is an amazing thing actually, because of my extroverted type of character, but now it think it is pretty twisted. Because we need stuff to stay inside. We do not have to live all our life as a performance. Thank you for this video, Louise!

Thank you so much. 🙏🏻🖤 Wow, what a treasure to have a 7-year journal with so many memories. (LOVE whiny journals!) Mine are mostly filled with career-related ruminations and relationship-related self-pity. I sometimes wish I would have documented a little bit more of my life as a whole. But what can you do. I do believe the most important task of a journal is to serve you while you're actually living life. And if it's also good memorabilia and entertainment later on, that's a great bonus. 😄 That's very well put: not living life as a performance. A very good reminder in the age of social media and content creation.

I always want to start a journal. But every time I start I only feel in 5 to 10 days and then I start forgetting it😏. Most of all I love buying the journals because they are so pretty. I really have to start a new Journal :-)❤. Thank you for the inspiration.

It's funny you were inspired to start journalling by a 'person' in a video game like that... but what is more clever is that your first entry speaks of a 'bird's eye view' and now you paint so many birds! I suppose you always fancied them, though...

May i ask...do watercolor paintings on paper need varnish ? Ty dear 🙏💕
@LouiseStigell
@LouiseStigell 2 жыл бұрын
Watercolors on paper don't need varnish, unless you maybe want to frame them without glass. Then you'd want some kind of protection against UV damage, dust, et.c. At least that's my understanding of it. 😊

Both, actually. Some thoughts I feel are best expressed in my native language, and some I "hear" in my head as English. So it's kind of a mess. 😅
