I got diagnosed with OA at 29, been dealing w. Pain since 28, im now 30 and im always in pain. Trying my hardest to stay away from pain pills so i push through.. its very depressing dealing with this disease at a young age.. its hard to workout ,walk , and just live a normal daily life. I had a pin placed in my hip at 12 and these are the long term affects from having uneven legs. Blah.

I really feel for you. I'm 46 and both my knees need replacing but my surgeon wants to wait for robotic surgery to be available in the UK. It causes so many problems with hip bursitis and achillies tendonitis and my right hip is wearing. It's so hard to work full time and deal with the pain and have had to give up riding my horses. Stay strong, push through is my motto!

I’m 37. Was diagnosed at 34 with Osteoarthritis of the Spine. Very painful and debilitating. I stay in pain 24/7. I also have bone spurs and bulging discs. I feel like there is no hope for me. I feel useless and a burden. Im on social security disability because of it.

Hi Kelly Thanks for telling us your experience of this disease. I am now in my 50's with eight years as a diver in the military followed by 30 years deep sea diving in the offshore oil and gas industry. This is the first story I have found which has been told by someone with whom I can identify. I have spent many hours looking for stories from the likes of top sportsmen etc but with no joy. I have osteoarthritis in my right hip, right knee, both ankles and knuckles of both hands. I am going to attempt to remove most sugar from my diet amongst other things and combined with some training see if I can improve my mobility. I am still managing to work but the condition overall does worry me. I remain optimistic of obtaining relief one way or another. Kind regards Phil

I noticed when I'm at my leanest, the symptoms subside dramatically. Almost to the point where it feels like it's healing. But the moment I stay too long at a higher weight, I get reminded of my mortality.

Hi guys, i have OA in my right hip, also my head bone is already dead because of lack of blood supply to the head of the bone, it started with little pain in my buttock and after a year x rays showed that there is no cartilage, worst thing is that it started when i was 27, now im almost 33 and i can tell you that its hell, painkillers dont work anymore like before and its every day battle and struggle, im still young and i do everything to avoid the endoprothese, ive lost my girlfriend cause i cant be the man ive used to be, also i coudnt tell her about it, its so embarasing to be a man in young age and deal with such shit, hope one day there will be better solution than prosthetic, its been five years but i still believe in some medicine breakthrough, sorry for my bad english

Glucosamine and chondroitin can really help. I’m not going into detail about my osteoarthritis right now but it helped at least for awhile immensely.

I was diagnosed with OA in my spine since I was 27. After some scans, doctor said my spine had the deterioration of someone in their 60's and that it's only going to get worse. It's only been a year later, and for the last few weeks, I've had more bad days than good days now. It just sucks...

I was shocked when I saw this video! I had my right hip replaced at the age of 40 and now at 47, am well beyond needing a hip replacement on my left. My left hip hurts more than my right did when it was replaced...I've just been putting it off. The doctors don't know why I have such aggressive osteoarthritis at such a young age, now also affecting my spine. I too was fairly active, raising three kids on my own, working as a CNA and then Activities Director most of my adult life. This is the only other person I know of that needed a hip replacement in their 40's! It's awesome and sad to know that I am not alone!

Hi Kelly. Thanks for the information. I'm in alot of pain right now especially in my lower lumber. I'm 57.8yrs old female and I lead a very active life. On the go almost always and suddenly I had to stop all actives and my bed became my friend a few days ago.. The pains are sever.. It's radiating down both legs. I was diagnosed last year about June and the doctor never gave me any advice just offered pain meds... I really need to know about what's the healthiest diet and exercise..

I’m 38 and have it bad it neck and lower back and both shoulders and knees and even big toes. I’m just now getting it treated. It’s been like this for 6 years at least. I am extremely active and a fun Saturday for me is spent with a chainsaw in hand or on a tractor. I love to work, can’t sit still, and regularly put in 16-18 hour days of anything from computer programming to plumbing to logging. I am a business data consultant and have flexible hours to do the stuff I want to do too and am basically a high tech red neck.
