If "Forever Changes" isn't an all-time top 10 album for me, it's very close. I've seen this and other live performances around this time, and the band Arthur assembled is great. I believe he was sick by this time, but you wouldn't know it here. Great upload, and I can't stress enough how game changing is that gem of an album titled "Forever Changes".

I'm a musician from 60's and 70's Hollywood. I was lucky to have seen them many times. Forever Changes was one of the greatest albums ever. Arthur Lee's genius is evident. Sgt. Pepper has nothing over this. ❤❤ RIP Arthur ❤❤

The story of the album title is that Arthur Lee was breaking up with a girl and she was upset, reminding him, "You said you'd love me forever!" Arthur's supposed reply was, "Forever changes." There's no album like Forever Changes. It's beautiful.

I heard the same story. Sounds like a classic response.

Un des plus grands albums de l'histoire de la Pop Music et du R'n'Roll ! Forever Changes is a Masterpiece !

Forever Changes is one of the best, and perhaps the most philosophical albums ever made. It came out the same year as Sgt. Peppers but about 5 months later. Arthur Lee was definitely a man with an interesting history, as was the band itself. They were one of the Doors biggest influences, and Arthur Lee got them their recording contract. Jimi Hendrix was influenced by his friend Arthur Lee's sense of style. This concert took place only a year or so before his too early demise. It's good to see him enjoying himself and appreciated by the crowd!

One of my favorite bands. Favorite song, Signed DC. Lost him too soon.

_Forever Changes_ is the loveliest, lushest psychedelic album of the 60s, incorporating horns, strings, and rich imagery in its songs; "A House Is Not a Motel" is a favorite of mine. Songs from other Love records, such as "Seven and Seven Is," really encapsulate the time.

Big Love fan here - so glad you enjoyed it!!! I saw him the same year as the Glastonbury concert at Manchester Academy. Unfortunately they couldn't fit the strings on stage that night. 👍👍

I met Arthur Lee at the House of Blues in LA. A musician's musician and very humble. They were more popular in LA than the Doors. Arthur didnt want to tour, so it limited their promotion and success. In fact, at one time he hire Jimi Hendrix as his guitarist before Jimi was famous. Later, I saw Arthur Lee and Love play Royce Hall at UCLA. The audience milling about in the lobby before he took the stage was like a who's who in rock, including Paul Stanley of Kiss. They were all there to pay homage to a master and a genius. As was I.

I read the real reason Arthur didn't want to tour was he didn't want to be away from his dealer (according to members of Love)

Those new young band members are actually a band of their own called Baby Lemonade (named after a Syd Barrett song). They teamed up with Arthur Lee to tour around the world.

Great to hear a song by Love although I am surprised by how few have watched and liked it. Time was when no self-respecting rock enthusiast would not have heard of the band and they did seem to take their own path musically. I'm glad to have heard this. I'm ashamed to say that I only have "Forever Changes" but listening to this perhaps I ought to hear more. I'm glad that you've been playing some left-field choices. I think that I still have Aldous Harding and Spiritualized left so they ought to fit in nicely.

Arthur Lee used to tour by hiring players for each leg. I have a buddy that did a west coast run with him.. Lee's gravitas is so compelling that everyone wants to do their best to impress. In person he is very humble.

Thanks Harri, from a favourite album of all time. Saw him with the Four Sail band in London. What a treat for fans to see him and the album revived live in his later days. This performance played enthusiastically and rather fast! Still magic after all these years. He was about 60 here, what a treat it must have been for him to finally play in front of these mega-crowds.

Arthur Lee was a musical genious. All the string arrangements were already there on "Forever Changes" 1967, but it took until just a few years before his death before they could be implemented on stage - I was lucky to see one of the first shows with that in Stockholm. Maybe influenced by "Sgt Pepper" but he definitely had a mind of his own.

I don’t recall if I suggested this to you but you nailed it by finding this versionIt was made not long before Arthur’s passing and he was definitely in a weakened state. This is a classic. Old Rocker, Young Band !

Great choice. I think this was the Glastonbury 2003 video. Arthur also did a minor stage appearance at the 2004 Glastonbury. Arthur had a troubled life, drugs and imprisonment. However to people like me ,and hopefully others, his (and the band's) music was so important. Johnny Echols, guitarist is still touring in the UK in 2024. Lead guitarist Mike Randle joined for appearances 2000s on.
