People say the dishonorable ending makes more sense but it really doesn't. I got proof of this because the TB can kill you but can be cured if you take your life nice and easy but Arthur said he couldn't, he saved John and was attacked by Micah, even with his TB weakening his body over the course of Chapter 5-6, he fought Micah pretty good even with his body being severely weakened by the disease. The fight between the two made the TB stronger and progressed way faster and it killed Arthur. Micah was the cause of why the TB killed him way faster than sooner. So that can be John's redemption for Arthur.

I swear I felt so many emotions just suddenly come bubbling up after watching his good honor ending on the mountain. It's like, I've experienced his journey with my own eyes (like I was right there with him) from a rough start to a tragic finish; watched him go from a ruthless outlaw/Dutch's enforcer who blindly followed orders because he'd do anything for his gang, to a man trying to make peace with the world after: "For the first time in my life, I'm faced with an enemy I can't see, or put a bullet into." / "I guess I...I'm afraid." (that line right there broke me; hearing someone like Arthur Morgan admit that). When he died, that build-up with him hearing everyone thank him and calling him a good man, it made me happy and sad at the same time, because he still viewed himself as "bad" despite everything he did for Redemption. But having *our* horse die (I loved that horse like a daughter), combined with him telling Dutch: "I gave you everything I had"? Like damn, man. I've NEVER cared for a video game protagonist like I cared for Arthur. For some people, the game that "broke" them was The Last of Us, or The Witcher 3. For me it was RDR2. And the funny part is that I disliked cowboys before this game; thought they were all pretty boring. Even now, the cowboys in this game are the only ones I've ever liked. Don't know how this didn't win GOTY.

This was the last game I ever played with my dad. It came out right before his dementia robbed him of his last good moments. I remember him being absolutely stunned into silence by how beautiful it was. Once his disease became to much I didnt return to the game until his passing recently. My father was an addict for much of his life but got sober for his family and was a truly great man. Always carried his younger years with him. Suffice to say. Arthurs story truly kills me. Watching a man redeem himself. Watching a good man fade from a horrifying disease. Thank you Rockstar.

One of the finest characters to ever grace a screen, not just in gaming, but everywhere and anywhere.

I agree he's a nice character but that's an overstatement. He doesn't have enough backstory compared to some movie characters

"Thank you, feller. You know there ain't enough kindness in this world, that's for sure." That line breaks me the most. Just the fact that a completely random stranger is enough to speak to Arthur in his final moments is really special. We're all strangers to most people in this world, but just one act of kindness is enough to make a friend.

@Poop From completing one of the last debt collection missions, you come across a guy loading a wagon with supplies before he gets attacked. You help him fight off the attackers but his wagon goes up in flames and he then reveals his pregnant wife and Arthur feels like shit. You can either take the money he offers or refuse, and if you are honourable enough to refuse, he says that line to you before leaving.

I love that Arthur remembers that in his final moments; I remembered that mission immediately because that line is so well-written and delivered

For me it was the Jimmy Brooks line for some reason. "You saved my life. You're a good man" Inmediately after hearing that i started tearing up.

I think this story is way heavier than a movie. In the movies, you watch the character for some hours, and you might fell touched. This game, you play it for days, weeks, months, then all that happens. Impossible not to cry.

The fact that you literally are that character since you control him contributes so much to this.
