Obviously, the 18-105mm F4 needs an update, but I'm not holding my breath. It's an internal zoom lens, but it has no weather sealing at all.
@ArthurR3 күн бұрын
That would be a popular lens if updated, for sure.

I bought this lens earlier this year, owned it for a couple months. Used it at a couple motorsport events I shot, and for a friends KZbin video shoot. Used it for pictures and video. I returned it after 2 months because of the immense amount of barrel distortion it has. I could never get an image of video to come out of it that I liked the look of. If they update it, I'd consider it but it was so disappointing for how much it cost that I don't know if I can go back to any Sony F4 lens

@frankluo2303 күн бұрын
I don't understand why that is so important to customers You only need 1-2 lens in each category anyway. If going full pro setup, Canon Nikon Sony all have complete lineup. Canon actually has better and more unique low end first party offerings.

Happy birthday Arthur!! For APS-C, I’d love Sigma to update their 1.8 zooms. They’ve got a nice compact DC DN Contemporary lineup, but we are ready for their Art line to hit modern APS-C mirrorless 😎 From Sony, I’d love more G prime lenses like their 15mm f1.4. Hoping for a 27/1.4 and a 56/1.4, I’ll even take a 90/2 ;) But I’d also love for a 16-55/2.8 G II, the original is getting pretty long in the tooth, it’s not even compatible with focus breathing compensation and could use a smaller form factor, more contrast and hopefully an aperture ring haha

I recently just switched to Sony a6700 and currently I have the Sigma 18-50 and jumped the gun on Viltrox 27mm f1.2 with its good reviews and I like the girth and 35-ish mm focal length. I'm debating if I should get a Sony 11mm 1.8 or a Tamron 70-150mm f2.8 G2. Happy birthday to you! I'm one of the grateful folks that found your APS-C focused channel!

The old Sony Vario-Tessar 16-70MM F4 could use an update for sure. Would make a great travel lens. Or the old 18-200! APSC is ready made for travel, so why not focus on lenses that cater to its strong points?
@JimW423 күн бұрын
Agreed! This was my favourite travel lens for years! Wish it was just a bit sharper across the whole zoom range and had weather sealing. Maybe an AF/MF switch while we're at it to help distinguish it further from the Tamron 17-70 f2.8.

Just buy a full frame lens in that range. Why limit a zoom to just aps-c when it can be used for both crop sensor and full frame sensor. Doesn't matter in this case. The Tamron 70-180mm f2.8 will do just fine. I use my Sony 70-200 f4 and 200-600mm with my a6700. Works great.

You mention the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 zoom for FF cameras. You wish for something like this for aps-c. The questions I have is: Why not use this lens on aps-c? It will work just fine and will service your A7C. I don't want to limit myself to aps-c long zooms for the reason I mentioned. It's silly and can be expensive overall. My two long zooms, Sony's 70-200 f4 and 200-600mm are often attached to my a6700 with excellent results. We have to be reasonable. I do agree that the smaller and shorter focal length lenses for aps-c are important, particularly if you want a very compact system for general photography. But, once you get into the long zooms, you are going to gain nothing by making an aps-c version.

7:00 By now I have close to no hope that this lens will come. With recent Sigma pricing (65 to 80% of the same FF field of view, same F stop), it would be in the $1000 - $1200 range, and I guess sales would be therefore quite tough. Hey, love your videos! What is the best AF budget lens for shooting portrait with aps-c? There are lots of them. I am considering the viltrox 56mm or the ttartisan 75mm (which is full frame) but I am open to any other lenses you may suggest.
@ArthurR2 күн бұрын
You nailed the two options. I would lean more toward the 75 F2 even though it’s full frame because I like the tighter field of view. But the Viltrox 56mm is excellent and a more “traditional” 85mm FF equivalent.

Best pancake lens for Sony a6000 series?
@ArthurR3 күн бұрын
Between the Sony 20mm and the Viltrox 28mm, the Viltrox 28 is better in my opinion. If you can do the slightly larger size, the TTartisan 27mm is optically better than both.
@apwip3 күн бұрын
Is the Viltrox 28mm f4.5 better than the TTartisan 27mm f2.8? I have the TTartisan for apsc and if the Viltrox is significantly better I would like to go for it. A comparison test would be welcomed.
@ArthurR3 күн бұрын
I wouldnt say its better for APSC. The TTartisan is a touch better optically and can be shot at F2.8 to F16. But in my opinion if you are looking for a super compact pancake, between the Viltrox and something like the Sony 20mm, the Viltrox is a better choice. If you are ok with a slightly bigger lens, the TTartisan is great.

I upgraded this year and the bigger hand grip alone is worth it
@ArthurR3 күн бұрын
Mostly its because i dont worry about it. With the 6700 I bring a carrying case and try to keep it nice and safe, with the 6100 i throw it around because it's cheap. And it produces the same results -- at least in photos.
