In this week's episode, we are once again playing and brewing MTG old school decks in our favourite gaming pub in Amsterdam, De 2 Klaveren. In this match up, I am taking on Richard's black weenie build featuring Stone Throwing Devils, Erg Raiders and the infamous Vampire Bats!!! Will my professors (Sage of Lat-Nam and Argivian Archaeologist) be able to invent solutions to deal with these threats from the darkness which appear to grow in strength under a full moon's light...

Lotus becomes insane in later mono black after FE set comes out. Before that though, it’s still good. You can go wide, attack your opponent down to 7 life or less, then Drain Life.

Oracle rules makes using a mana vault to help untap another pointless, the damage is dealt during drawstep if vault is tapped.

Psychic Allergy is a very bad card, have you seen the upkeep cost?

Hi Anr, yes it’s a card that requires some thinking and the right scenario, but it can be useful. I would use it as a finisher. You don’t have to pay the upkeep cost.

Of course you can use one Mana Vault to pay to untap the other Mana Vault, why shouldn’t you be able to? This means that one Mana Vault won’t damage you but the other one is going to, since the ability triggers at the beginning of your draw step and you can only pay to untap it at the beginning of your upkeep.
