I have some grandchildren that would love this! Love the sad irons on the stove . If you use them - well, you don't need a gym membership for a workout! I started ironing using those but mom only let me iron my dad's handkerchiefs.

Its great over ice cream too! If your grandchildren like ice cream, they would love it! Handkerchiefs are a great thing for young ones to start on :)

Funny Cortney just made the chocolate syrup yesterday, the recipe she uses calls for maple syrup and you can thicken it, if made with water by adding arrow root powder, keeps in the refrigerator for several weeks.

Carob powder doesn’t have caffeine and has a taste of chocolate.

My daughter discovered that we were out of chocolate syrup. We just made this and it was extremely simple. The results were great. I had to rewatch and pause at each step to get the ingredients and amounts correct.

The cocoa doesn't mix with cold milk because of the fat content. If you mix it with some hot milk first, it will be easy to finish

Yes, me too and I would use pure stevia instead. Some do not like the taste, but it doesn't matter to me. It is sweet.

The problem with this kind of syrup that nobody on KZbin shows is that you have to consume it immediately. If you plan on storing this syrup, you're going to literally have a hard time, because it's going to get way too thick to pour if you cool it down. The problem is that a big component of cocoa is starch, which is gelatinizing when you heat it. That's how it's absorbing the liquid. The key to turn this into a nice chocolate syrup is to add a tiny bit of the enzyme alpha-amylase, which is commonly used in beer brewing or whiskey distilling. It's super cheap, 15 grams will cost around 3-5 bucks and that's enough for up to 30 liters of syrup. It's naturally present in germinated grains or in your own mouth because it's a component of saliva. You can't taste it, because it's in our mouth all the time and our brain has just learned to ignore it. Controlling the heat is pretty important when using alpha-amylase, because higher temperatures can denature the enzyme. You want to hold it at 63-70°C for around 10 minutes to break down all the starches in your cocoa powder. 0.1g of alpha amylase is enough for the amounts you listed in your recipe.

Some people use a little bit of real butter in it.
@ArtisanAcre3 жыл бұрын
Oh my yes! I usually put it in after I've made a cup of hot cocoa from it, I do that too when I make a cappuccino from it, the butter does truly add something special to the flavor.

Chocoholic here! I have been buying the expensive ones and some taste better than the others. Lea, If I did not know that you just had surgery, I would not even think it. You are doing great, just keep resting. It actually takes 6 months for the anesthesia to get out of the body. And, although you will feel really healed good after a few weeks, it really takes time for the cells to rebuild and put things back together after they cut into them. (don't know if I am wording this exactly right, but the gist is the same). Maybe when everyone is blacked out for a while, they will reflect and see what is important and what is not in their life. Opinion. I think quiet is a lost art in today's culture and it might be rediscovered and that will attract some to you. Others will be horrified by the quiet.

Hi Martha! First let me say thank you for the words of encouragement. I tire easier right now but I feel pretty good. My incisions are still a bit sore with the scabbing but other then that I'm okay. Now let me say I had no idea it took so long to heal completely! That could explain why I tire so easy right now and why my taster and stuff has been out of wack! I was pumped full of so many meds in a 3 day period, I don't even think I got half that on my c-sections. Thank you my friend for sharing your wisdom, I appreciate! God bless you!
