So fun fact about Venom aka Eddie Brock: He’s not actually a villain, he’s an Anti-Hero. He was just antagonistic A LOT towards Spidey for kinda ruining his life. Note: Eddie was fired from his job due to spider-man actions, got divorced, rejected by his dad and finally got the news that he had Cancer. Venom (Eddie) actually wants to helps people. But he does kill criminals like the Punisher buy sometimes….. biting their heads off. Nowadays, Peter and Eddie are on good terms now. Now if you want good Venom comic recommendations, read “Lethal Protector” and “King in Black.” The later is where he gets his demon wings that you see in Spider-Man 2. Also characters I would want to see in this game: Ghost Rider (Blaze) and Black Cat.

He started as a straight up villain, but making him an anti-hero really works better, especially when separating him from Spider-Man stuff and giving him his own stories (also I love how the Venom movie sort of leaned into the monsterfucker angle of Eddie and Venom's relationship, even if it misses the whole toxic dynamic that Eddie is supposed to be Venom's toxic rebound relationship after his messy breakup with Peter, especially since Eddie also hated Peter).

No, he was definitely a villain, and is still usually/mainly a villain. Eddie wants to help people, but Venom doesn't, at least not usually. There are very few times he was good compared to him being evil. Also, Eddie wasn't ostracized because of Spider-Man's actions, though that's the way he sees it. The things that happened to him happened because he accused the wrong person of a crime, and faced the consequences after Spidey caught the actual guy.

Iron Man is an interesting case of visual design history, given that he has changed his looks more than almost any other superhero. Which completely tracks with his character. He's an inventor, always striving to push the boundaries of technology. So it makes sense that he's had dozens of different looks, developing increasingly advanced suits over time, along with specialized suits for specific mission profiles. Notably various "buster" armors tailored for specific potential opponents.

Yeah the OG Peni Parker (from the comic) was a HUGE love letter to Japanese anime...on top of being in class with the EVA pilots, they also had the classic Akira jacket (which Splatoon 3 had a version of for a recent Salmon Run month), and Peni's mech being a straight up EVA unit...same for Venom when which appeared in the comic too...that mech however would devour the pilots because it was a faulty machine iirc.

Scarlet Witch's powerset is kinda weird. The way I had understood it, her actual mutant power is probability manipulation and then she learned magic on top of that. But double-checking on the Marvel wiki, it seems like the probability manipulation mutant power also gave her an innate talent for magic (also, there was a retcon that made her no longer Magneto's daughter and also not really a mutant). Magik's mutant power is creating "stepping discs" that allow her and others to teleport, while doing a layover in a hell dimension called Limbo. But as a kid, she was kidnapped by a demon called Belasco and spent several years in Limbo (while only seconds passed on Earth). That's what made her part demon.

@ so comics work on a sliding timescale, meaning characters need to stay around the same age. Mostly this is dealt with by leaving it ambiguous. Xavier and Magneto didn’t meet 20 years ago, they met many years ago. But characters directly tied to a specific year get tricky. Captain America was frozen for longer and longer periods of time. The war the Punisher fought in was just the most recent war the US was involved in. Magneto was turned into a baby during an avengers storyline. Although the X-Men are so convoluted, there might be a different reason now. But how old exactly is magneto supposed to be? My headcanon is in his 50s, but he’s been written as late 30s to mid 60s.

The story behind tjat is that the illuminati, which is tony stark, dr starnge, mr fantastic, professor x, and i think a few other's, secretly decided to express ship the hulk into space to die, and for a while he just ruled over the planet he crashed on, had a wife, had a son, eife gets murdered by the illuminati, he goes back to earth and kicks everyone's ass, i forget everything past that point, but he's literally up there in the strongest hulks of all time, next to meistro and world breaker, and he's the drippiest version period, hands down my favorite. If i could mix that with meistro, oh baby that'd be the coolest fucking hulk in existence!

The moment I saw Magik in the roster I knew the game was in good hands. She's such a niche but fun pick to put into the game, you can tell the devs know their characters. Her backstory is that she can create portals to a place called Limbo, which is basically hell, and got trapped there as a child. She ended up learning magic and conquering it, then returning to Earth as a morally questionable hero(?) who basically fucks with the X-men and helps them on occasion. Old school Marvel fan and I have to say I really love the thoughts on these designs from someone otherwise new to these characters! I'll admit the 'cape shit' thing threw me off because I'm used to people online who really hate the concept of superheroes for some reason using that term, but I quickly worked out you didn't mean in derogatorily! I really love this game's look; all the designs are just OOZING with style and I love how its going away from the more grounded designs of the MCU. There's plenty of good reason for Magneto to be an older fellow; he was canonically a child during the Holocaust (specifically he was Jewish and from Poland, and in some account a sonderkommando, or a Jewish prisoner forced to participate in the horrors of the Holocaust), which is why he sincerely believes that humanity will inevitably try to wipe out mutantkind for being different; he's seen it happen over and over in his lifetime. The reason he's still young is weird superhero science, rejuvanation and this one time he got transferred into a younger clone body. Anyway some fun Hulk facts! Bruce Banner (at least in the comics) canonically has Disassociative Identity Disorder (as a result of childhood trauma by his abusive father, who murdered Bruce's mother, and whom Bruce spent most of his life blaming himself for, causing the Hulks to act as an internal monster for Bruce to shove all his ugly feelings at to feel like less of a monster like his father) and there's multiple versions of the Hulk and all are his alters. The powerful and simple-minded one people know is usually called the Savage Hulk, and he is explicitly a child alter, representing the abused child he once was, lashing out in explosive panic and pleading not to be hurt anymore. Some Hulks are more intelligent than others; the intelligent Hulk in the MCU looks a LOT like the Professor Hulk, which was a fusion between Banner and the other prominent Hulks at the time. (To be clear, that's not actually Bruce with the Hulk's body, but a merging of all their minds). That green energy beam thing is new, though it was premiered in an arc that a lot of people dislike, since it came right after a REALLY beloeved and monumental character run (Immortal Hulk) but most of it was abandoned, which upset a lot of people. That alternate costume isn't cosplay! There was a period where Hulk was exiled from Earth by his superhero friends where he wound up on the planet Sakaar and was made a gladiator slave, befriending a number of other outcasts, and taking up the persona of the Green Scar; an intelligent and brutal Hulk, implicitly suicidal and just giving up on being a hero after they betrayed him. That outfit he wears is what the Green Scar wore during this period. (Banner himself never actually appears except for a brief moment, and then his clothes stay in Hulk's size.) That more monstrous form adopted by Green Scar feels like a mix of two things; that disliked run I mentioned had the Hulk have a powered up form known as Titan, and the primary Hulk alter during the Immortal Hulk run was the Devil Hulk, a terrifying and even cruel intelligent incarnation dealing out horrifying justice upon those he encountered, ultimately revealing himself as a protector to Bruce and being the father figure he needed, warped by Bruce's perception into a demonic figure; in Bruce's mind, the Devil Hulk appears as a reptillian creature, and that powered up form in the Green Scar outfit looks a LOT like that form! (Side note; the Savage Hulk IS explicitly a childlike entity and therefore has no interest in anything sexual, for obvious reasons, but other incarnations of the Hulk ARE, and have had genuine romantic and sexual relationships. Not sure if the... size difference causes problems but I guess he figures it out. Also, the use of Ultimate Hulk WOUNDS me; Mark Millar, who wrote that setting, keeps trying to write Hulk as a sexually violent cannibal instead of the volatile but genuinely heroic hero and I HATE THAT.)
