The thing with "wasting paint", it's something I had to learn the hard time too. "It's such a waste of paint". I always thought that when watching people create something with a lot of excess paint, that was basically thrown away. There's a bit to keep in mind regarding the environment (as thrown away paint, depending on the type of paint, might be hurtful), but it took me quite some while to eradicate the thought of "all the good paint going to waste". Paint is there to create art. If you need a lot of it to create, then it's still fulfilling it's purpose. It's not wasted, when it serves the final product. I guess if you grew up with the mindset of "using everything till the last drop" (for example toothpaste, emptying the last bit of a ketchup bottle, etc) it's hard to shift to "it's paint and used for what it's made".

I think it also helps to reframe that for some of these artists, their video or performance IS their art. We are often more critical of people on TikTok because we don’t think it’s a serious platform, but this IS a livelihood for some of these artists.

As someone who has never known how to use programs like Procreate, I’d love a video on you learning/mini tutorial on getting started or what the different functions are. This was a fun video. I do watch reaction vids from other YT-ers, and enjoy them (most of the time, lol). Loved that stop-motion vid of the pencil at the end. Really creative.

I think the mango one was made with kind of like a whipped acrylic paint that makes it use less paint and more kind of modeling clay but acts like paint. If that makes sense.

I LOVE watching the art videos like at the 2.50 mark where they start with blobs of paint and make different landscapes. They make it look so easy but I feel like it isn't as easy as it looks. These videos are very fascinating to watch though. Can you imagine the disappointment if they didn't hit record on the phone before putting it in the bottom of the jar and going through all that to create something so cool looking only to realize at the end that it wasn't recording.

To use thick paint like this you put impasto medium in to it to thicken the paint you only use a little actual of the actual pigment paint

You should totally try the chunky paint painting. You just get as heavy body acrylic as you can find (it will say heavy body on the paint tubes) and something called "acrylic medium." There are a lot of different mediums but I think the one you want is just called acrylic medium. Subsequently, you can use spackle, so I've heard. I theink playing around with that may make a pretty fun video. There are even people who sculpt with these mediums, let them dry, then attach them to their work as a 3d element. It's actually what has inspired my current project!

The Tibetan monks that came to our school when I was young created this beautiful special coloured butter sculpture it took days and was so detailed then they proceeded to scrape if off we were shocked, but they explained to us the pleasure comes from the creating that’s when you are most at peace and meditative state

All the techniques or art tests in Tik Tok are one or the other interesting 😄 The last one was stop motion but it's incredible making felt objects and making it into a short film is a real adventure 😲😃👍✨ Yes, you should try Procreate. I imagine it's the same as Photoshop if you want to paint 🖌️💖

I would love to see you use the color cube in a adult coloring page. Now I did per order the color cube because I’m part color blind and looking forward to using the color cube be I always ask my husband what certain colors are because I’m not sure so hopefully matching the color name to the card will help. Why it is a waste of paint? -Honestly, the world is burning and we humans are wasting valuable materials like there was no tomorrow, I'm not saying we are running out of paint soon, but there is no reason at all to use half a tube to make a viral video, to then throw the chonky art in the trash because it has no more value and probably wont dry ever. Ive seen professional artist and painters say that it will NOT dry ever unless you mix it with something that makes it, but what that is, they don't know. Yes art is about having fun and expressing one self but we can also be a little bit conscious about our waste and use of meterials and what we portray as okay to the world. For me the thicc paint videos are nothing more than a "satisfying" quick fix that i want to eat, and that's it. I wont dictate what people use their paints for, but i do really think it is a waste, when you can't make it keep the form and frame it like it is. My best guess to making something that DOES keep the form is mixing paint or pigment with glue and baking soda perhaps? I made snow for my miniature diorama that way and it dooooes keep some form, but it also deflates a little, so who knows!

Do you feel the same about movies? They spend millions to create expensive makeup, special effects, explosions and more. Many of the props are thrown out, things are destroyed, and it’s ALL for the sake of “entertainment”, just at a larger scale. I agree with your points about being conscious not to waste excessively, but I also think we often judge other artists through a different lens because we don’t consider their entertainment as “art”, when for them, it’s their entire world and expression of who they are.

@@SarahRenaeClark Honestly yes i do feel the same with movies or concerts with extreme fireworks, fires and so on, but that is only my opinion and it wont change anything ;) I would like children and young people to see and understand how to waste less, instead of using and throwing away, as our world is doing very much still.. I'm not saying that it is not art and I'm not saying nobody should do it, but you did ask in your video, why people "hated" on it or disagreed on it and i simply gave an answer, an opinion i have heard many share in the art shop i work in. Also i hate disappointing my costumers, when they come asking how to do it or come complaining that the expensive paint they bought and used are not "working" like that Instagram post they saw.. I had to explain to lots of young teens, children or adults that many of their "art hacks" from Instagram and TikTok, does not work or doesn't work in the way they had hoped. Again I'm not saying this to discourage you or anyone in making fun art, but it is very wasteful when not getting the finished result to last.. It would be nice with a disclaimer or "a few days later" or you know, a video showing that its fun and nice but it doesn't last, then i could be like "why do that, but okay fair" :) If you do try it, and i would very much like to watch that video, i hope you will experiment a little with making the paint stay puffy! I would be super nice to see if it can stay like that and show how it works :) I hope you see i meant no ill will with my comment, i just find it hard to watch waste, and influencers that does not really inform what the hack looks like one week later, as these trendy videos often don't..
