Mod Podge makes photo transfer medium specifically for putting images on wood, canvas, etc. There are instructions on the back of the bottle. It works better than just plain Mod Podge and, in my opinion, preserves more of the photo's original color.

You can make quick stickers with that rubbing method, too. No ModPodge needed. Take (glossy) clear sticky tape and place it over a laser printed image. I’m pretty sure Xerox version works, too. Scrape the surface with your fingernail (palette knife?) until all of the image touches the tape. Dunk the tape under water and rub off the printer paper. Let dry and the sticker is finished. 👍🏽

Usually tape winds up non-sticky, but a glue stick fixes that. I found magazines (the cheaper the paper, the easier it scopes off) work great. My favorite is to lay a mag page, then stencil, and tape, then burnish with paper tool, nail painting tool, or a Q-tip around the stencil edges, and finally soak for 10-15 minutes. Page usually comes away all on its own if you soak it long enough, And the stencil-covered areas are still sticky.

I didn't try those hacks, but it absolutely can't work for oil. Maybe for those new water solluble oil paints. It also can't work with acrylics. Once those are dry they are like plastic, no matter how much water you use or how long it soaked. I can only imagine water colors (yes, they can make your brush look like that too) or Gouache, wich both always react with water, no matter how long ago they dried.

Hi Chloe! Big fan of your videos! The first hack for dried paint actually works. I do art myself and have a few brushes I’ve accidentally set to the side. What I did was take 3 dryer sheets, and 6 ounces of water. I wrapped two of the dryer sheets around the actually brush and mixed it up. Like I was swirling the brushes and rubbing them and pressing them against the dryer sheet. Took ten minutes to get a large coating of paint off.
@edzara91376 жыл бұрын
Really fun video. I've actually been curious about some of these hacks myself so I'm super glad you did them! I've also done some these myself. For the soap frayed brush, it doesn't last. After you wet it you just get soap in your paint or water and it goes back to it being frayed again. The Crayola marker watercolor. I've done this to and it's great! Just wet the plastic really quickly after you put the marker on or it'll dry. Also instead of putting water on the paper I just dropped a ton of water on to the plastic and you get the same effect. You can also make a sort of DIY copic with this method. Color permeant marker on plastic and mix it with rubbing alcohol. I've done a few of my inktobers this way and its pretty great, cheap, and easy. It's not the real thing but it does quite well.

I was doing a watercolour painting today and i noticed one of my favourite brushes were really hard and sort of crusty so i tried to wash it, dipped it in water with soap ETC and nothing worked until later on when i was painting my nails I thought i would try rubbing the paintbrush in the 'Acetone Nail Polish Remover' and it loosened it and now it is back and at perfect use. It Didn't affect standard of my paintbrush and it became as good as new!

Art professors when I was at school recommended that mod podge technique multiple times while I was in college, so it is legit

I have a friend who's a photographer, and she does the transfer trick to sell canvas prints to people ^-^.

the photo transfer works best when you varnish it afterwards!!

I agree 💯! BUTTT does it have to be a certain kind? There's all different kinds now. And I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on varnish. I'd rather spend it on expensive brushes and high quality paints.....or reefer...a girl has priorities after all.
@tofutofutofu4445 жыл бұрын
Anna Hoffer i believe we just used a cheap wood varnish in my art class and it worked fine!!! anything to bring back the vibrance because the transfers can be pretty grainy and dry/faded looking

The last one that you did is amazing! We did it in art class like about 20 years ago. We had like a proper white string that you would use for crafts or even like making bead jewelry as a kid. Like the really strong one. We painted it with watercolors or some water based paint and it is really cool if you mix like several colors on the string. I remember also using a light weight on top of the paper/sketch book when pulling the string. I recommend experimenting with this technique. It is so fun and easy and pretty. 🙂

I totally SWEAR BY Pink Soap for all my paintbrushes!! It’s SOOO amazing! It conditions brushes, it’s so concentrated you hardly have to use any at a time, and all my brushes look and perform like brand new, no matter how old they are. Plus, it smells like almond oil, and makes your hands baby-soft! 👍🏻

Valery over at Art a la Carter did the string pull thing. She has a video showing different kinds of materials and techniques. I'd love to see someone do a challenge where you use that technique to make a full piece of art.

Definitely late to the party here 😂 The floss flowers are best done with cotton string or thread. Or any other fabric thread. Just not plastic dental floss

I always do the mod-podge/canvas thing on wood. Looks really cool, especially if parts of the wood texture come through. Takes some time to complete but is definitely worth it.

hey guys if you ever need a digital pallete for colorpicker take a picture and go to filters in whatever app or software, pixalate it, then find a crystalize filter over that :))

Just found your channel, loving it! Subscribed. The soap trick really DOES work on bent brushes. It just takes a bit more time, like 2 rounds at it. Get really soapy, use your fingers to shape the bent the bent bristles back to shape. Let dry sideways overnight, then rinse. If that doesn't quite do it, give it one more round. Last chance, soap, shape, then cheap water based school glue, thin coat with fingers, let dry overnight. Wash off with water. ( my Dad taught me that one)

Another hack that actually works for dried paint brushes is boiling some water (and adding a tiny bit of vinegar if you can but you don’t have to) and pouring it in a cup. Let the brushes sit in there for a little bit and the dried paint loosens and your brushes are back to normal!
