In regards to the altoids tin holding paint - as someone who really doesn't know much about watercolors (I'm mainly a digital artist and when I do traditional it's generally acrylic or a pan set of watercolor) I had no idea the watercolor from a tube once dried could be reactivated with water! It makes perfect sense that it would NOW, but I didn’t even think along those lines at the time haha. Thanks for letting me know this was even a thing for someone who has never used it before hahaha

Gouache will crack when dry, so it needs to be eiter a) stored in an airtight container, or b) have a humectant added to it, like honey or glycerine. M graham gouache already has honey so if you want to store it rather than use it straight out of the pan, that’s your best bet. I use M. Graham and Holbein with glycerin added and I store it in an airtight palette (like the transon pallette) and that works for me.

There’s one that ACTUALLY WORKS for traveling with paints - find an ice cube tray with a silicone cover. It’s not something that you’d put sideways in your bag but it’s something you can carry it out to a car with. And it keeps the paint wet for days

I've made two watercolour kits with altoid tins and gum wrappers. They work fantastically! Well, one set is watercolours, and one set is gouache. It's not going to work with acrylic, lol. I used the watercolour kit on a plane just fine. :-P I have videos of both on my channel. :-)

Yes! Using something less dry and stiff would help a lot too, but the method in the hack is great for mark making in experimental art that can yield some really unique results depending on what the ‘brush’ is made of and how it’s applied!

The altoids box palette and pill container is for dried watercolor from tubes. They both work really well.
@zaracousins37346 жыл бұрын
the first art hack was intended for watercolours. It said in the picture. You can put tube water colour in the container, which will then set and can be reactivated with water. (You may have to mix something in with it but that's beside the point) As for the, pill container, maybe dont get a button release style one? then nothing's gonna hit the buttons.
@bongos5286 жыл бұрын
she def got an "expensive" pill container but it was probably expensive bc its designed to be easy to open!! A cheap hard to open pill container would 100% work and im excited to try it

For your sharpie hack, I’ve brought back a sharpie with my idea. First off, I was using a skinny sharpie so I don’t know if it works on fat ones too but.....here it goes: 1. Find the cap(I lost mine, that’s how it dried out) 2. Rub and move the tip around a bit 3. Shake the sharpie to move the ink around 4.put the cap back on 5. Wait a bit(until you think it’s good, I waited a couple hours, 3 or so) 6. Test it 7. If it doesn’t work, repeat until it does If it didn’t work for you then I don’t know why but I did it and it worked. Again, this was my idea and not from a stupid life/art hack Chanel. I loved the vid by the way!!

A note about that last one, it works because Sharpies, Copics and other fancy art markers (Mpexy etc) use an alcohol base for their pigment. This means you can also revive dead blenders with rubbing alcohol rather than buying expensive refills for them, but over time the colour might thin out a bit because you’re changing the ink concentration. However, if you try this on watercolour or non alcohol-ink markers (like the Faber Castle pens you might get for school) you *_will_* ruin them.
