In regards to the altoids tin holding paint - as someone who really doesn't know much about watercolors (I'm mainly a digital artist and when I do traditional it's generally acrylic or a pan set of watercolor) I had no idea the watercolor from a tube once dried could be reactivated with water! It makes perfect sense that it would NOW, but I didn’t even think along those lines at the time haha. Thanks for letting me know this was even a thing for someone who has never used it before hahaha

Ironically, you went for the more expensive pill box to get better quality (which you did get), but it was also one that was engineered to be easier to open since people using them may or may not be having problems with grip strength in their hands/fingers. Edit: It might have worked better if a cheaper pill box was used, although then you might be contending with hinges that break too easily.

The Altoid hack was made for watercolor and gauche, not acrylics actually. The tubed watercolors/gauche can be put in the little tin, let dry, and then you can travel with it. Okay but I used film canisters all the time to store extra mixed paints when I was in college and had to pick up and move from class to home to work on my paintings. and you CAN get film canisters still. I had a ton because I also took photography classes which included film classes. Photography shops and online shops are your best bets, but film does tend to come with it. Good for me as I have a film camera as well as my digital one.

Gouache will crack when dry, so it needs to be eiter a) stored in an airtight container, or b) have a humectant added to it, like honey or glycerine. M graham gouache already has honey so if you want to store it rather than use it straight out of the pan, that’s your best bet. I use M. Graham and Holbein with glycerin added and I store it in an airtight palette (like the transon pallette) and that works for me.
@MissMagic

It depends on the brand. Not all brands of gouache crack, and just a drop of glycerine added to the pan solves the issue for the brands that do.

Okay but fun story about Pill cases. So I take around 5 pills a day and once a week that goes up to 6 with high dose vitamin D. This Spring my mom and I went to Vietnam for a week and while were were there my pill case, which was a decent quality case that wound up costing about 10 dollars as it had separate compartments. for times of day popped open. Every single pill spilled out of it into the bottom of my bag and I spent about an hour tracking them all down. So yeah, the pill case one, not the best idea with pant.

the first art hack was intended for watercolours. It said in the picture. You can put tube water colour in the container, which will then set and can be reactivated with water. (You may have to mix something in with it but that's beside the point) As for the, pill container, maybe dont get a button release style one? then nothing's gonna hit the buttons.

For your sharpie hack, I’ve brought back a sharpie with my idea. First off, I was using a skinny sharpie so I don’t know if it works on fat ones too but.....here it goes: 1. Find the cap(I lost mine, that’s how it dried out) 2. Rub and move the tip around a bit 3. Shake the sharpie to move the ink around 4.put the cap back on 5. Wait a bit(until you think it’s good, I waited a couple hours, 3 or so) 6. Test it 7. If it doesn’t work, repeat until it does If it didn’t work for you then I don’t know why but I did it and it worked. Again, this was my idea and not from a stupid life/art hack Chanel. I loved the vid by the way!!

A note about that last one, it works because Sharpies, Copics and other fancy art markers (Mpexy etc) use an alcohol base for their pigment. This means you can also revive dead blenders with rubbing alcohol rather than buying expensive refills for them, but over time the colour might thin out a bit because you’re changing the ink concentration. However, if you try this on watercolour or non alcohol-ink markers (like the Faber Castle pens you might get for school) you *_will_* ruin them.
