Felix Semper's sculptures are made entirely out of paper. They each take months to create and are made from thousands of individual sheets. When Felix lost his business in 2008 he decided to give up his career completely and become an artist. His work now sells for thousands of dollars and he exhibits around the world.

@@didnt_ask_for_handle Initially, it's probably necessary to copy others to see what techniques you are going to develop and expand upon for yourself. If you adopt a particular style, you can modify it in a unique way to suit your tastes and interests. As you keep incorporating more and more approaches, you come up with your own custom blend. As long as you don't remain stagnant for too long and only copy the same thing over and over without experimenting, it should be fine.

The Chinese artist created this art 5 years ago and drew his aspirations from Chinese lanterns that they used in festivals. This insider video the artist preludes that he made something never knew or seen before. “If I was going to make a difference in life... I had to create something new and radical”.... I think that is why people are a little upset. He could absolutely figure this method on his own, but he should at least acknowledge that this art was discovered by Li Hongbo.

Also, for guys that are going to say it’s just technique that he is using, just like everyone can paint, no! This is like a anyone can make a sound out of a piano, but only playing the notes in a certain sequence, it becomes a unique song. li hongbo treated the paper in a certain way to make his unique art. Also Li displayed his art in an exhibition back in 2014...

FYI, the reason why li hongbo originally created his sculptures like this was because he was inspired by the traditional Chinese lantern production method. And so he blended the Chinese tradition with the Greek sculptures. This guy clearly had no idea where the concept originated from and just straight up copy it .

the chinese artist created the concept or style, but he might not have patented it(which is a pretty god thing, this allows artists a wider range to chose from when making art). the artist featured here is just using this style to portray his own work, while he maybe should have mentioned the original artists as inspiration, you cant just say he copied him

Clearly u have no idea about originality. Rubbishly accepted all those imitation, fake, copycat, plagiatrism blindly. I dont have problem with people trying any artform, but dont claimed it was your idea if its not. Give proper recognition, credit the person who inspired you. That is how artform should be. I get what ur saying but just because there are similarities in their work, it doesn’t mean that anyone is copying anyone, they easily could have came up with the same idea and had no idea the other had as well, it’s not like it’s a complicated concept to think of. If they had been copying each other’s sculptures (like what they are of) that would be different. I do see what you mean though and I agree insider is contradicting itself :)

sεηραι So you’re saying that any piece of talent you get recognize for, you have to find the person who did it first and even if you never heard of them, must give them credit. Besides, comparing crediting to quoting doesn’t help. You quote someone, you take what they exactly said and use it for your own purposes. You know who said it and if you don’t intend to quote it, you are then taking the credit on purpose. If you credit someone, you show recognization to them for helping you in your situation. This means that if you didn’t credit them, it could go in many ways. For one in this case, he might of never heard of Li so he didn’t credit him cause he wasn’t involved in his passion. He’s not crediting him on accident. On the other hand, he might of known who he was and didn’t credit him on purpose. So I say that comparing crediting and quoting is completely irrelevant in this situation. Funny thing is that Li Hongbo has the attention he gets even more from the butthurt people in the comment section.
