More of a practiced skill. I use to suck, but the more i painted the better i got at it. Especially work like this is very forgiving of "errors". I'm nowhere near this persons level, but I'm happy at the level i am because i finally stoped giving up on my self. Just gotta keep practising.

Oil paints at that, jesus christ even the cheap oil paints are expensive. I don't think it would be a stretch to say that there's about $400-$600 worth of paint on the canvas, let alone how much that big ass canvas would cost. If I was rich I'd shell out a shit ton of money for that painting. It's beautiful.

I saw one of her creations being made several years ago at the Little Italy art walk in San Diego. I believe it was "Jacaranda" because a petal of a Jacaranda tree fell on the painting and she incorporated it in. Iris is AMAZING!

@@MrWrathkun i personally see the resemblance cuz iris uses short strokes in her paintings, as did gogh. she also uses a fuckton of paint like gogh did. they both also use(d) bold colours which makes the paintings have even more of a similar vibe. but of course, art is subjective so you can have your own opinion on it. iris' paintings are also, of course, a lot more modern so maybe that could play a part in your opinion?

I love her art, but honestly i dont think any art should be priced as highly as it is. Theres things you could buy for 40000 that has far more time and effort put into it than a painting. I dont get what the pricing is based off of, is it effort? Time? Visual appearance? I dont think any of those could account for a 40000 dollar price tag. Just my opinion.

@@hridakshipareek1418 it's to move money around, if you are friends with an artist you can get them to set an artwork for a ridiculous price then if you buy it you don't get taxed on that amount so it's essentially scamming the system it's awful and there's a lot more to it than that as an artist it makes me sad that so much of the art world today is like this but unfortunately that's the reality

Awesome how she uses natural paint thickness to simulate texture and even depth. Even if this didn’t have as much realism, the attention to detail is everything and she’s got lots of it. The colors are so vibrant and vary in so many ways you’d need a sophisticated camera to even capture it.

Many many years ago I paid for studio time at the local art academy. No one understood why I loved painting with my bare hands. At the time, I didn't use gloves because I absolutely loved the feel of the paint on my hands, especially when I touched the canvas. It was therapeutic... and this may sound corny, but I felt connected to the canvas. Unfortunately I've been out of the art scene since then... life... ya know. Anyway. Words can not express the sheer joy I feel in watching this video. Finally. I don't feel alone with the artistic style that I love and miss so very much. Finally, we are actually getting some proper art in the big galleries again. Not just some nonsense that you have to allegedly interpret and then get ripped off when it comes to the price, but real genuine art that the person has put time, skill, detail and soul into every piece.
