A slogan such as "power of feminine music" is certainly silly, it is really not that she wanted to make feminine music. But her art IS the epitome of femininity. May be she did not even know how powerful feminine her art is. Many many musicians pay her respect for her art. They are from all kind of directions and backgrounds, such as punk, jazz, heavy metal, and even hard core rappers. BTW. I can still figure a man doing the Wuthering Heights ballet style dancing but not together with the vocals. Thinking about it, actually I don't want to see that. Breathing - I am not sure if a man could have this idea.
@juanaltredo29747 жыл бұрын
I think her creativity and her outlook is very feminine and showed us to a lot of men this glimpse into a world we don't always understand or, some, tolerate. Its very difficult to negate that one of the things that make her unique, besides her natural talent, its the fact that she expresses that femininity and sexuality in a very personal way. shes one of the great artists of the 20th century, but shes also very womanly, in a great way, that nobody ever has to take in the wrong way. I mean,we can still refer to each other as man and woman, can't we? we're human beings above all, sure, but we're two different genres, and like the french would say, vive la diference

The ability to move her musically abilities in different directions, and her performances are just mind blowing. I put her at the Top and Queen of ALL female singers and along side the King David Bowie. Two individuals who produced fantastic lyrics and music.

Part of Kate Bush’s genius has flowed from her advancing feminine power without stooping into the gutter (i.e. she resisted the easy road of showing a lot of T&A) and instead was modest and much more elevated than that. She didn’t have to stoop, because she has genuine talent, and was being true to herself. This is a sharp contrast to those who pursue fame/celebrity by offering little talent, but far too much skin/far too much compromise. Notice how those on that lower path are quickly forgotten, but here’s Kate, all of these years later, being celebrated for her depth, for her originality, and for her unique talent.
@maishadigital84102 жыл бұрын
I mean, a woman can express herself however she wants. It’s not always stooping to project sexuality. That just isnt Kate Bush’s style. It’s her own thing. What is fascinating is how people use the term ‘Female’, ‘feminine’. If she were a man, no one would speak of masculine energy or masculine power. They would just be an artist. If Kate achieves something, it is transcending her sex. I can appreciate her as an amazing, wildly creative artist without having to be confronted with her sex. Female artists should enjoy that thing male artists take for granted. Being considered an artists above all else
@warrenbridges18912 жыл бұрын
@@maishadigital8410 Sounds like a contradiction to me. First you defend an artist's projection of sexuality. Then, in the next breath, "Female artists should enjoy that thing male artists take for granted". Kate always said 'SENSUALITY' is where art is at. As for "Masculine Energy", I was alive when young girls would rush the stage and tear every shred of clothing from a male artist's body... without provocation. How many female artists, (discounting exotic dancers) have come close to being raped on stage. Then you have the gall to call a guy out for simply mentioning "feminine power". Like it or not, there's something in a woman's voice that does things to a man's soul.
@andrewblackman61582 жыл бұрын
Kate had too much creative energy flowing to have to resort to the arrogant path of making sales through soft porn, as Madonna and her clones did. Madonna was a mercenary seeking money, power, and fame, as a means of distracting herself from her massive and unrelenting self-hatred. Kate had too much depth and self-love, too many fantastic stories flowing through her noggin, and like Tesla and Edison, had too many experiments to conduct along the high road, to resort to the low road. Kate produced enduring art, her mirror-opposites, not so much.

I'm a big fan of Depeche Mode, I had never known the taste of Dave Gahan on Kate Bush, really beautiful.
@McLarenMercedes10 жыл бұрын
Not sure what Martin Gore thinks of Kate Bush but he sampled the breathing sound from "The dreaming" (the song) for "Personal Jesus" in 1989. Or Flood did. Dave Gahan was 16 back in 1978 so I'm fairly certain he was more interested in Kate than her music. At that time he was not involved with any kind of music and did a lot of stupid things (joyriding cars he stole etc). Lucky for him his singing voice caught the attention of Vince Clark in 1980, who already had a band with Martin Gore and Andew Fletcher - none of which felt comfortable singing the songs they composed. Kate Bush is an influence to many musicians, but I don't think she influenced DM particularly, unless they liked her use of the Fairlight sampler. They used it a lot for "Construction Time Again".

McLarenMercedes Interesting story
@RastaSaiyaman9 жыл бұрын
McLarenMercedes As for Kate Bush' influence on Depeche Mode, I'd say songs like "enjoy the silence", "A question of lust" and "Home" could have been Kate Bush songs. And I for one would have loved to hear Kate singing those songs.
@McLarenMercedes9 жыл бұрын
RastaSaiyaman Kate Bush could definitely sing "Home", though "Enjoy the Silence" is so quintessentially DM both musically and lyrically I find that to be quite a stretch. Had she made a cover of it and put her own touch on it, now that I'd love to hear. Kate never makes covers though - with a few exceptions like Elton John's "Rocket man" and that was for an Elton John tribute album, plus she's a friend of his too - so it seems she considers songs by other artists to be "holy ground". DM has had the good taste never to release covers either and when Martin Gore did release an album with covers he did so under his own name and even called it "Counterfeit E.P." - to make it clear the songs weren't written by him. Could Martin Gore sing "Suspended in Gaffa" ? lol maybe.
@RastaSaiyaman9 жыл бұрын
McLarenMercedes I'm trying to imagine how Kate Bush songs would sound like if either Martin Gore or Dave Gahan sang them and which songs they should sing... Which is not easy since all of them were written from a woman's perspective. As for Kate singing "Home" I have an idea how she would sound on that. Instrumentally, if you take the live version of that song from the 2006 tour where they opened it with the Air around the golf remix for the first verse and chorus before letting it morph into the version we all know and love. I also think she'd sing it in a low pitch, sounding like somebody who had a long journey and is glad to rest their tired body. But to quote John Lydon: "I could be wrong"
I love Kate so much, she’s the most inspirational and incredible human to exist! Definitely my idol❤️

In some ways her return to the top of the charts and the hearts of the public is similar to the film It's A Wonderful Life. Released in 1946 it didn't do well (thought Kate actually did well in her career way back) and was forgotten for 40 years, then started showing in the late 70's again and after a few years became the most loved Christmas movie ever. And those of us that lived through it the 80's was just a great decade for music.

She's influenced so many artists, some very unexpected one's too! I truly believe she's the most influential artist of all time. She's like the mother of all of these fantastic artists and musicians. First I discovered Kate and she will always be my number 1, but since then I've discovered so many more artists and I feel like finding my music taste made me a more whole person, it was like finding some very important puzzle pieces you know? Thank you Kate.

I saw Kate in concert the second time around. 30 + years on from her original tour, she has not lost the power to hold an audience in the palm of her hand. Mesmerising!

daniel mooij Yeah I really love Bjork I’m thinking there’s some Kate influence in her music. Yeah just googled it as a teenager Bjork wallowed in Kate Bush’s music. Thanks Kate for spawning another great musical talent.

Love bjork, a lot of people don’t though, I like strange, kooky female voices and Kate and bjork have that in spades.

It was probably an American List, they usually put their own Artists first. I saw another list where Whitney Houston was placed higher than Freddie Mercury which is hysterical.
@mpt32453 жыл бұрын
@@crazycatpetera1404 Was this based on vocals or overall artistry? Because when it comes down to it, Whitney was a better vocalist than Mercury.
@crazycatpetera14043 жыл бұрын
@@mpt3245 is you qualify “vocalist” by acrobatics then sure 😂
@mpt32453 жыл бұрын
@@crazycatpetera1404 Explain what you mean by 'acrobatics'. Whitney's voice was more powerful and lot clearer than Freddie's was. A large portion of people would put her ahead of him, american or not.

With due respects to previous comments, and not knowing when that countdown was first shown, but it is pretty obvious that while Kate is not always fashionable, her body of work is prodigious, and she remains a genius. Annie Lennox is, for me, a close second. However, I am biased as I love both ladies, and the landscape is constantly changing. The newest entrant to this very select band is, in my opinion, Florence Welch, of whom I am a big fan.
