When we moved to FL from NYC I was in shock that every shop had bathrooms, and you didn't have to be a customer to use them. NYC was always hard to find a bathroom as either they were "customer only" or employee only. FL may be crap for so many things but bathrooms and actual helpful employees is something that is abundant, and appreciated.

If you think Hobbycraft prices are expensive you should see what the prices are like here in Australia, we have nothing like that shop here, and unless you shop at the $2 shops, which have limited ranges, you have to pay heaps more than anything in Hobbycraft. We do have online craft shops but the range is limited and expensive.
@Mark-nh2hs10 ай бұрын
The Range can be hit and miss. They charge more for certain art products over others. I use oil paints and they charge way more than Hobby craft. But it depends on region and what discounts there are. I find the Works (live in the North) have these Canvas pads for £2-£3 with 8-10 sheets and they are amazing love using them. Add your own gesso to them great for practice. Esp if using oil paints.

The Range is AMAZING It really only came into prominence about 15 years ago, I think there were a few around before then, but in recent years it seems every major city in the UK now has a Range somewhere! The one near me doesn't have a great deal of stuff in terms of art things, but for décor, it's brilliant! Hopefully, at some point, you'll be able to find a 'The Works' to visit too, they're another good, cheap art store range over here. I'm glad you found a good Hobbycraft, though - not all of them are as amazing as that. The one near me has really gone downhill over the past couple of years. And don't worry - completely understand what you meant about value for money - yes, for me over here in the UK it's expensive, but with the exchange rate, it would work out better value for you! @@ChloeRoseArt

Congratulations on your engagement! As a former employee of Hobbycraft, I wholeheartedly approve of Chloe’s choices. It’s one of the more creative and inspiring places to work as an artist and crafter. (Yeah, it’s not perfect, but I would love to work there again!) I love the wedding decoration ideas. Having a traditional wedding can be so expensive - especially when you’re trying to do all the things that are expected as standard! It’s so much better to use your creative skills and make the theme based on you, not the other way around! I can’t wait to see the finished creations.

Just add your own Extra gesso to them if using oils and I always buy a few when I see them.

Just a piece of advice on the wedding side of things, if you don't have or haven't considered yet, I highly highly recommend a day of coordinator. We couldn't afford a full wedding planner, but we got a day of coordinator who did things like setting up the table decorations we made, made sure that things went according to the schedule, and then tore down at the end of the night. It was a god send.

We have a massive hobby lobby here where I live in the states and i've seen the spectrum noir in there a few times. but it's a small selection as Copics and prisma color tend to be more popular. but they do have them then again they have a massive marker isle/section too so it might just be they had the room for it. cause like i said the store is huge! about as big as the walmart we have in this area as well. I love the Hobby Lobby here! we do have other stores as well like micheals but it was a hunt to find it! There is also a Joann fabric store but that's about it around here! we also have a flea market which is massive as well you can find some neat craft stuff in there as well! but also it can get weird some booths are... interesting to say the least lol.

Those fluffy worms used to be called squirmles here in uk, you can still get and also for cat toys. The works is very cheap for craft and art supplies, sometimes you can get some good stuff in the pound shop, WH Smith can be expensive for art stuff though. The bloke who owns the range also owns Wilkos now so has lots more range art stuff. In uk we only have to have loos in shops if they have cafes in them ie to wash hands. The lift is really meant for disabled and for prams, there are stairs. I’m in a wheelchair so it would be annoying to have to wait for abled bodied to all using it, wouldn’t be fair.

@@221b-Maker-Street I'm only seeing your question now! Sorry!! From what I have tried (and I am not an expert in acrylics/haven't tried many.
