It didn't work for me, but I'm going to keep trying... My least favorite part of making bracelets is threading those seed beads onto the hemp cord. It's nearly impossible and frustrating as heck.

You could try burning the end of the string with a lighter or candle. Sometimes I'll burn it quite a bit and cut it to form a tip to thread beads, but it depends how snug the fit is.

Great trick. Can you kindly help me solve my problem? I bought some freshwater pearls from China. They arrived strung (so there must be a needle out there that fits the hole.) None of my needles will pass - they get stuck at the eye part. Any ideas? Want to stitch them on to fabric.

I am using a #4 weight yarn, beautiful but rather ....not chunky....fluffy? Thick but very soft. What size bead will fit over it? I always see info for whole bead size. What about the hole of the bead? Would a size 5mm fit? I have a flexible beading needle (Godsend!!!😙) and am looking at beautiful Imperial Jasper beads. Yarn is a bluey turquoise. Not real green. The beads are colorful. Lovely. Suggestions as to bead size?
@ArtOfClay
@ArtOfClay 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment! I'm not very familiar with yarn weights and beads, but i found a chart, that may help you here: www.beadbiz.org/handy-info.html According to it for a medium yarn ( #4 ), the bead size should be 5.5mm. I hope I've found the right information, for you. I wish you a wonderful weekend. :)

@@ArtOfClay I appreciate the chart so much and, also, you taking the time to reply. I was looking online at the Imperial Blue Jasper in a size 6mm but will definitely look at the chart. I need all the help I can get😊. I want to bead the bottom quarter of the shawl. So excited. Nearly half way there and just started yesterday. 5 skeins were given to me from someone's stash and as I cannot find Universal Yarn Shades 'Solids', I fear it is discontinued😢. Part acrylic, part wool, amazingly soft. Of COURSE it's discontinued!😒 Oh, well. Have a peaceful evening, my friend.

Thanks for your reply! I appreciate that there are so many nice people on the web. This Imperial Blue Jasper looks SUPER beautiful and I guess the shawl will be amazing. I hope 6mm to be the exact size of the beads you need. Good luck with the project! :)

Perhaps it's weak, dried out, thread. Sometimes people have spools of thread that have been rolling around in a drawer for years and when they use it, it breaks easy. They sell beading thread that is extremely thin and exceptionally strong. Be sure your own products are in good order before you shoot the messenger.😶🙂
