With open hand i set it much lower to be comfortable, not just a bit.

I can’t seem to tune my snare and Tom’s because I don’t really know what they’re supposed to be tuned to because everyone’s drum is diff and mine sounds bad

Try this for snare : loosen all lugs, then finger tighten them till you can't move them by fingers. Then using drum key 3 full turns every lug on top head, 4 full turns on bottom head - turning 1 full turn at a time across each lug(not 4 turns then next lug). Last put some dampening on the top head, a tone gel works great. For toms only 1 turn for top, 2 turns for bottom. Snares generally sound better when they're tuned tighter, toms tuned lower. Bottom heads must be slightly tighter than top.

I have a power beat stand and the rod is very short so I can't set it too high or else I will not be able to open it enough. Is not so fun playing with it too low, sometimes with crossed arms my right stick hits the left one when I play offbeat or syncopation rhythms 🥲

Geex seems like you could use a longer rod, try getting one second hand or sth?

Find the rod specs looking by girth in millimeters and the thread count. For example Tama uses a 6mm with an M6 and rods come in both short and long.
