I just bought a minilab mkII black over the weekend and I'm loving it. It runs like a dream on Live and on my iPad; being able to map 16 knobs to some of the synth apps is a godsend.

Joshua Brumley how does it work on the ipad ? I am planning to buy it and would love to know
@JakeSweeper4 жыл бұрын
@@overtonefr It works very well. All that's needed is a camera adapter dongle appropriate for your model ipad to plug it in. It's also Class-compliant, so the ipad can power it as well if need be. Just about every app I've used with it works great and the few it didn't were groovebox apps that pretty much had midi support as an afterthought instead of proper integration.

I have a little portable Mini Studio that I can fit in my bag It consists of My Macbook Air 13 and it’s Charger An Anker Ultra Compact Bluetooth Keyboard A Logitech M355 A SanDisk 500 GB Extreme Pro SSD An Anker Powercore 20 Portable Charger A Focusrite 2i2 An Anker USB Splitter A beyerdynamic DT770 Pro (250 Ohm) or a Samson Tech SR850 (80 ohm) depending on if I’m reviewing an already mixed song Of course a pair of Apple EarPods just to review mixes An Akai MPD 218 (I needed a full 16 Pad Finger Drum) An Arturia Microlab A KORG NanoKontrol 2 A SHURE SM57 (For Acoustic Instruments) A SHURE SM58 (For vocals) and A Blue Ember (Also for Vocals) and some wind screens This is probably the best place to start from all the research I’ve done. Everything you need to be able to completely take control of your daw on the go without having to sacrifice anything as far as quality of Drum Pads and Keyboard Keys go. My only gripe is the Microlab doesn’t have any knobs but that’s where I can use the NanoKontrol2 as an instrument. Lmk if I should add anything to my set up or if there are better things to recommend to ppl lol

I'm really interested in the Arturia Mini-Lab MKII 25 Slim-Key Controller, BUT reading user comments on Amazon...(With respect to the)"…rotary encoders (the knobs). Any rotation medium to slow and the values start jumping arround, sometimes as much as 10%. So bad it is unuseable. (As per the Web)…I am clearly not the only one. The terrible thing about this is apparently Arturia have known about this for at least the last two years, and not just in this device". Another user says"…using Logic Pro X then I would say, give it a miss." Can you comment on these remarks, please? I'm currently using GarageBand as my DAW.

First: Great first name. Second: You were one of the reasons I also purchased a MiniLab Mk2, and one of the contributing factors to soon buying a KeyStep for my live MIDI controller. I've been toying around with the idea of a KeyLab Essential 49...but I think having the input & output options on the KeyStep might be more worthwhile at the moment (and my tablet is a bit under-powered to display my music and run Analog Lab at the same time 😕). Your video on the MKII sold me on it back in January. I take it with me to band practice all the time and the build quality hasn't let me down at all. Every single aspect of it is nearly flawless and it can't be overstated how much of a workflow monster it really is. You rarely have to remove your hands from the keyboard which is huge for me when recording. Trying to find the mouse after you practice a section over and over again only makes it harder to get a perfect take. Its by far the best purchase I've made.
