He is a true national treasure, a thought leader, and someone the black community and leftists alike ought celebrate and use as an example. They will not, however. He doesn't advocate for victim mindsets, nor is he of a leftist bent. The same can be said of the late Dr Williams. Both are/were PhD economists, authors, keen social and historical observers, and amongst the most eloquent speakers and defenders of ideas our modern times have produced, irrespective of race. Both clawed their way out of poverty, especially Dr Sowell, and humble origins, and are American success stories, not just black success stories. Cut the billions of public money going into UK Universities and use it to better finance our schools and expanded apprentice places so that ALL our young people get a decent start in life without political input. Another Tony Blair cock up we still have to live with, far too much public money going into Universities at the expense of manufacturing and commerce.

William Buckley was its most public, but not it's deepest, like Sowell, who published 15 books. I'd start with his 2nd, A CONFLICT OF VISION and his THE VISION OF THE ANOINTED.

It's possible to debate if we stop acquiescing to weak-willed people who haven't been brought up properly by good parents. Look at how they reacted to J.K. Rowling, I read what she said back then and was blown away they decided she was being phobic of any kind. Some of these people have made it their whole life though, their entire identity is the group they affiliate with the strongest. Others have monetary incentives to continue pushing a narrative. Some other folk have undergone irreversible medical alterations which makes it extremely difficult for someone who lacks conviction to come to terms with the potential that they made a mistake, that's especially true for the people who convinced them to do it. If someone does something like that as a child it's much easier to pin the blame on the adults around them, and absolve themselves of personal responsibility. Taking responsibility for something you did as an adult makes people feel stupid for having done the thing they've realised was a mistake.

Cofnas has long drawn the ire of academia for his research into IQ. All the left wing establishment of Cambridge needed was an excuse to get rid of him and he has, perhaps inadvertently, given them this. He is Jewish. And, given what is currently going on in Britain and the wider west, it will be interesting to see how his case pans out. Today we are seeing the cancellation in Britain of black "comedian" Dane Baptiste, for threatening comments at a Jewish woman. We are also seeing the "liberal" US establishment raiding "antisemitic" campuses and passing blasphemy laws to protect Jews. Cambridge has gone against the current trend. The issue highlights how this newly arisen battle within the liberal-left is shaping up. Unfortunately the outcome matters to all of us, even though it is really about minority communities amongst us

@@MrMjp58 Thanks, but I should have pointed out that, since power always reveals itself in the end, the outcome of the wider battle will reveal who is actually influential, and in the ascendency, in the west. The "Jewish lobby", or the "Third-Worldists". This is an important question for us

@@georgehetty7857 Bill H.R.6090. It has gone through the House and has yet to go to the Senate for approval and be given Presidential ascent. I understand it will certainly get both. It is a law that protects that particular community as well as its state (tried using the actual names but it got deleted) from criticism under terms defined by the IHRA (you will have to look up the abbreviation because I dare not state it here) which is based in Sweden - not even the US. It is the first time the US will have passed a law that directly challenges the first amendment while also aiming to protect both a specific community and a specific country from, pretty well, any direct criticism. While also relying on definitions put together by a foreign NGO All of this isn't without context. It is within the context of the internal liberal-left tussle taking place

Simon's desire for an considered, exploratory dialogue rather than a knee-jerk reaction seems so terribly dated; it's reminiscent of the tedious thesis of J.S. Mill's "On Liberty", (1859). Doesn't Simon know that times have moved on? At Cambridge these days, we know the truth of anything by the simple application of woke-think.
