I liked Scott Bryce's Craig back in the 80's and 90's but when he came back briefly in the mid 2000's it seems he was a bit out of character. Having him turn heal to a more protagonist villainous role just wasn't him.

@@Williamwestp24 Because the writers by that time were COMPLETELY out of touch with the heart and soul of the show. They made Craig a scoundrel like his early years, or ala the Hunt Block years but disregarded all the rich relationships he had created, especially with Lily and Lucinda. Just awful.

Old School ATWT. Brings me back to my childhood. Douglas Marland's ATWT was the best era. Basically 1985 to 1993. ATWT storywise and characters were untouchable. Scott Bryce will always be Classic Craig. They should have had Hunt Block play Craig's cousin.

All the people who weren't fans of the show during this era probably can't appreciate just what a smart, sexy couple Gregg's Tom and HBS' Margo were and boy were they passionate, even when they were agonizing or frustrating to fans. And yes, count me in as one of those who believe that Scott's Craig was the best and THEE one. Yes, the writing was far better during Bryce's era but Scott brought so much complexity and emotion to the role and that was definitely his doing. Screw the five people who gave a thumbs down. Must’ve been some sour NBC soap fans. These three had the best chemistry. Marx and HBS were the definitive Tom & Margo. I liked Dolan and Holmes. They’re good actors, too. But D&H IMO were so serious. Hilary and Gregg had loads of chemistry, lots of humour, and were just plain fun. Don’t even get me started on how pissed I was over Scott being let go and replaced with Hunt Block. Just one thing, Alan. Tom & Margo weren’t the longest married couple. Don’t know where folks are getting this. ATWT’s Chris and Nancy were married (on air) for 30 years. Tom and Alice Horton in Days we’re married for 29 years. The couple that might actually be the longest was Joe and Ruth on All My Children who were married for 43 years. That’s just off the top of my crowded head. Thanks for doing these. They’re a blast.

Alan, thank you for bringing together these 3 incredible individuals and amazing actors!!! I really enjoyed this reunion. It's definitely one of my favorites of all the reunions you've hosted. With no disrespect to the amazing Hunt Block and the other actor(s) who have portrayed Craig, Scott Bryce WAS, IS and WILL ALWAYS BE the ONLY CRAIG MONTGOMERY!!!! Scott's laughter and utter enjoyment in this moment is so genuine and absolutely infectious. Loved his stories of his first day and of working with the great Liz Hubbard, as well as the James Brady story. Gregg and Hillary were my absolute favorite combo casting of Tom and Margo. Justin Deas, Margaret Colin, Scott Holmes and Ellen Dolan were fantastic as well, however, Gregg and Hillary's portrayals made me actually fall in love with and care about Tom and Margo. BTW, Hillary mentioned that she worked with four actors who portrayed Tom. I can only name three (Justin, Gregg and Scott). Who's the fourth actor? The Doug Marland era from late 1985 to 1992 was the renaissance period of ATWT, IMHO. There was such a measurable decline in quality, storytelling and character development after Marland passed away. The Marland era was such a great moment in time that unfortunately I don't believe we will ever experience again in our lifetime. Loved this one!!! I'm hooked. If you can, please share this with Gregg, Hillary and Scott. Please continue with these reunions post quarantine. Happy Pride!!!!

i'm glad that hillary clarified the whole situation with the "grandmother clause" because i know eileen fulton has had to fight against those rumors for years when the only reason they existed is because of the ageism in the industry. characters lose babies all the time in soap operas nowadays so it's a little jarring to hear them talk about margo's miscarriage so honestly. it's always really uncomfortable (and kind of horrifying when you think about it) that so many soap opera actresses have to play the deaths of their actual, real life children, especially when not killing all the characters actually creates more drama for the storylines. i know everyone always talks about mary stuart having to play the death of her son on search for tomorrow, but i only just turned 27, so i think the worst one i can remember is sabrina and patrick's baby dying on general hospital, especially since teresa castillo was still pregnant and they were drawing that storyline out for so long. it was so painful to watch, even for viewers like me who never really cared for sabrina. i think since soaps often go for shock value as a genres staple they forget that certain subjects need to be treated with the seriousness they deserve or otherwise not be dealt with by writers who can't handle it. that said, i absolutely loved lyla and casey. for me, they were the best and most well-written atwt couple of the 80s. that scene where craig first finds out about them and lyla completely lets him have it while craig is literally crying because his mom has a boyfriend (lol) is really great. and then craig runs to the police station to tell margo and she starts laughing at him for overreacting. genius.

This was amazing! I watched as a teen from right before James Stenbeck died the first time until.....sometime after Lily separated from Damian Grimaldi. I LOVED Scott as Craig! He was charming....and still is. Gregg felt like such a better fit for Margo than Scott Holmes, although Scott was awesome in his own right. And Hilary B....I was sad when she left the show. Great show this week! You know what would be good to see? A few shows with all the Margos or all the Craigs, or all the Toms. Both Betsys would be nice. Or do a show with Craig, Tonio, Sierra and Lucinda.

Oh wow Alan. This has to be the most amazing reunion you've set up yet. It was just a magical time for the show when Doug Marland was head writer. Oh and these three people. Such amazing talent. Scott Bryce, wow. He is such an amazing storyteller. I could listen to him all day. I'm sure I had known this at some point, but I totally forgot that his dad played Bill Bauer on GL. Sweet Hillary. She was my favorite Margo. And she had the distinction of working with three different actors playing Tom. OMG, The Ying and Yang story had me rolling. And Gregg. I was very curious as to what he would bring to the reunion, given the fact he was just on for two years. He was absolutely my favorite Tom, hands down. Gregg's interpretation of Tom was totally different from Justin's. And Gregg had has many stories to tell as well. I loved him talking about his family, the wonderful Marx Brothers. He was getting kind of choked up about it. I'm glad to know the producers actually were trying to convince him to stay with the show. I kind of always wished Gregg took them up on their offer. Who knows, he could have been with the show for the remainder of the show, and we wouldn't have known Scott Holmes, not in that role at least. I totally forgot that he won the Emmy for his work. I assume it was Best Supporting Actor. I would have loved for Alan to have asked Gregg if he had a favorite Marx Brothers movie. He's a fabulous singer to, and there are some videos on KZbin of Gregg singing. I would have liked for him to have talked about his personal life more, maybe what life was like back in his soap days being gay versus being gay today. Does he have a boyfriend or husband? But I also respect his privacy to. May I say that I've had quite the crush on him for quite sometime. The Montgomeries were my second favorite family right behind the Hughes and even ahead of the Stewarts and Snyders. Again, Alan, thanks again for an amazing interview. Those laughs were much needed and infectious. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I wish these actors had never left their roles! ATWT’s loss was definitely OLTL’s gain.

I like Scott's face when he laughs! I never saw that with Craig. (I realize they are not the same people.) I miss this soap and the Doug Marland years.

They will always be Tom, Margo and Craig to me and I really hated it when they left. It bothered me more when Hillary left because she claimed at the time that she was taking a break to spend time with her kids and I accidentally turned the TV a couple of weeks later and she was on OLTL. If she had gotten a better offer there I just wished she would've been honest to the fans about it instead of lying about why she left. I loved her as Margo she'll always be Margo to me.

I thought after Ellen Dolan left the role of Margo in 1993 that Hillary would return to the role but, she doing One Life to live. They probably did offer her job but, she didn't leave
