Asuna actually was a noob in cannon. The copy of SAO that she played on wasn't even her's, it was her brothers. She wasn't a gamer in any way before SAO. Infact SAO was her first game. Brother was away and she ended up using it on launch day.

In the original anime, Kirito's "Evil moment" (as you put it), was about him deflecting unfair hate from other beta-testers by making himself an even greater target with the whole 'beater' thing. He figured he could handle it because he was a solo player already anyway. So it seemed 'evil' but it was actually really very selfless. ~JD

That wasn't very well explained... But in the real show, it's implied that they didn't actually realize who he was (because he had his stats and level set to hidden)

@@darklord3861 aight so basically in ww2 hitler (the leader of Germany) he and his people had been killing Jews at what they deemed in ineffective rate so they made the final solution to speed up the process. The guy who originally brings up the final solution is German sounding.

ok, so i'm not that good at explaining things but I'll give it a shot. (if anyone has anything to add that I missed or want to elaborate, feel free) Now the reason why Kirito had that evil moment in the OG anime (If thats what you are confused about) was to take all the blame and lable himself as the "beater" and take most of the attention off the other beta testers so everyone would work together to complete the game.

The impression I got from that scene in SAO was that Kirito saw the resentment that people had towards beta testers and basically tried to channel all of that animosity towards himself so other beta testers would be safe. Hence basically bragging that everyone is a newbie compared to him since cleared nearly twice as much of the game as anyone else ever did and promptly takes his awesome loot drop and leaves. could be wrong as the scene is very ambiguous, but that's how I read it.

SickHead I think the idea was he set himself up as basically THE Beta tester. He set himself up as the person for everyone to focus their anger at instead of Beta testers as a whole. Not saying it's good logic, but I think that was the intent of the scene.

i should point out that Kirito implied he knew things and let Diabel die to get the last hit bonus and give himself an unfair bonus and not help people while making normal beta testers as incompetent as a noob. put it this way, and he makes himself look like a prick. he vilified himself to be THE VILLAIN people thought beta testers were edit: that is what he wanted people to think

He had said 'evil moment' because he wanted as already said in the top comment take the blame so as stoping the others from distrusting and maybe even killing each other off.

The odd thing is in that the anime never mentions or even hints about is that the majority of those 2 thousand deaths ARE beta-testers. I'm unsure if it does in the novels (I discovered this through the sao fandom wiki) So when it comes up in the meeting with that knowledge in mind, it's sad to see the death of nearly 2000 beta testers... are being blamed because the beta testers aren't helping... (Kind of hard to help when they're dead, eh?)

Kirito made himself the villain so they non-beta players wouldn't hate the beta players as bad if didn't. Basically he took as much of the hate he could. So the rest could act something like like a unit. Also Asuna was a freaking newb. She wasn't using her own nerve gear, it was her brothers. So this was her first game ever.

Not in the way that the abridged shows. There are cats, and there is a catlike species that players can choose to play as in another game, but there is no actual cat that plays SAO.
