So this is not the first time they considered bringing Ventress back, apparently they wanted to do it for “Resistance” but didn’t end up doing it. She never got her curved sabers back which is the point of the new saber yet it looks identical to her original ones (could be wrong but it certainly looks curved)

Ventresses ending is more open ended then ppl make it sound. Vos puts her in a lake n sees green tendrils n nightsister Magick engulf her and ASSUMES it was her spirit joining her dead sisters. When it was written it may have been their intentions as well, but in hindsight what Vos was seeing could hav been the magic working to save ventresses life! I think that Is how they will explain her return.. Vos wrongly assumed he watched her transition to the spirit world, but what he actually saw was nightsister magic beggining the steps to save her life..perhaps it took minutes,days,weeks or months floating in that sea of green witch juju, but the end result was her regaining her life, strength ect..I truly believe if It wasn't always the plan,that somebody on the writing teàm reread dark deciples and realized that ventresses "death" was very open ended and wasn't written as definitivly as it probably should have been and took it as an opportunity to continue her story without changing the canon. That very small detail of " tendrils and green Magick engulfing her" creates just enough doubt to bring her back without being too cheap about it lol. She always had a "out" with her nightsister background, but it would have been a cheap "out".. the way her end was described gives them a " we always meant to bring her back n that's why it was open ended" lol..do I believe that? Not really but do i believe it was a convenient happy lil accident? Yes...yes I do..

Ventress is a character that has “died” at least three times in legends. Her coming back now, in canon with the affiliation with the Nightsisters and their magicks, is probably the least “how did they bring this character back from the dead” issue that I have. This could be where they bring the hibernation trance ability back into canon. In legends this ability was used to explain how a Jedi who we seen slain by General Grievous in the 2D clone wars micro series is later seen in one of the comic arcs set a year or two later. If anyone has played Knights of the Old Republic 2, will know that Kreia also uses this ability when the Exile finds her and assumes she is another dead body like the miners. In the Legacy comics, Cade Skywalker I think also used this ability to fake his own death following the Masscre on Ossus (his best friend and own master were unable to sense him in the Force, even though their ship was still in the same system). And another famous user was Jedi Master Tholme. Tholme used this during the Siege of Saleucami at a time when Quinlan Vos was still a double/triple agent and a servant of Count Dooku. Tholme fought Quinlan and faked his own death so that neither Vos nor Aayla Secura could sense him. I see no reason why Asajj Ventress could not do the same here. Faking her own death plus Nightsister magick gets her a get out of jail free card. As to why she didn’t seek out Vos again, who knows. Maybe that story gets moved along the timeline so that by the time she is fully healed events of Revenge of the Sith are underway and she doesn’t find him again until sometime into the Imperial era 🤷🏻♂️ I kind of hope they make a bounty hunter series using the same style animation, with Ventress as a main character who works alongside other bounty hunters. Her story could be similar to that of A’Sharad Hett: former Jedi who survived Order 66 and disgraced Tusken leader who makes a living as a bounty hunter. Said show could also give us the western style duel between Cad Bane and Boba Fett that we were supposed to have gotten in the bounty hunters arc of TCW.
@hh-dm6cp8 ай бұрын
Don’t you realize how much that cheapens a pay off or redemption arc by undoing her death with no consequences? It makes her sacrifice less and makes further stakes feel less impactful since nightsister magic can just bring her back if she gets dipped in a little pool. On top of that, it raises questions on why the nightsisters didn’t resurrect their other fallen sisters with this magic rather than zombie shit

For most of her life, she was either a victim or a weapon, and no one who met her ever really stopped to consider that she is still a person. My biggest problem with this is that ventress’ death was handled so well and very emotionally in dark disciple. To bring her back just makes that death seem unimportant in the first place. It was very clear that she was very dead at the end of the novel. Her body was prepared days in advance before being laid to rest on dathomir. That’s about as dead as you can get, and nightsister magic (to my memory) has never been shown to reanimate someone this well. They always come out looking and acting like zombies. Don’t get me wrong, there have been times where bringing a character back from their supposed death was a great idea and allowed for more storytelling, maul obviously being the best example of this. And while they barely did anything with her, seeing phasma again in the last Jedi was a bright spot for me. They even gave her a decent comic miniseries. But to the degree we’re starting to get these character resurrections, it’s making Star Wars feel like a marvel of dc comic where death means nothing, and that’s not what Star Wars is

I have a theory as to how Ventress might have survived: Quinlan Vos. He did learn the basics of Nightsister Magic, and we know he’s still alive after Order 66 because his name was on the wall of surviving Jedi in Kenobi. Maybe he fled to Dathomir where he thought no one would follow, and used the Nightsister Magic to resurrect the one person he knew he could trust. In regards to Merrin and Taron Malicos, I am fairly sure that the Tomb of Kujet and Mother Talzin’s coven were separate locations. The terrain is different, and even Merrin is afraid of Kujet’s tomb. Odds are Vos won’t even see them.

I think her death was always meant to be a Gandolf situation where she is reborn and changed. Her death, while impactful and important for the story that was being told, was always written with room to bring her back because they chose to leave her body in what could be described as the SW equivalent of a Lazarus pit. I think that the writer was told to leave the door open for her return and did so in a way that does not require much mental gymnastics to explain how she is back.

My theory is that during her training under Dooku, she was constantly exposed to his force lightning, then when she was betrayed by him and went back to the night sisters, the little “bath” she took to join them altered her body a bit, making her more resistant against force abilities like Force Lightning. We see that it altered Savage Opress took a similar one and he lacked any natural force abilities, so I believe it would have an even more profound impact on Asajj Ventress since she was born a natural force wielder.

Maybe Quinlan Vos used Force Healing, like Ben used on Rey! There are multiple reasons why I believe this to be true. In The Rise Of Skywalker, Ben & Rey are seen side by side to try & finish off the sith once & for all. When Ben was pushed back & was assumed dead by palpatine, Rey had to finish the sith herself, but she died in the process. We see Ben well & alive walking towards Rey. Ben gave his own life-force to Rey, so that she may live, sacrificing himself in the process. In this scenario, where we see Asajj Ventress & Quinlan Vos going up against Count Dooku, like we see in The Rise Of Skywalker. Quinlan Vos gets knocked out & is assumed "dead" or "knocked out" Dooku tries & make sure Quinlan Vos is dead by using Force Lightning. Asajj Ventress leaps into the lightning sacrificing herself in the process. Once Dooku left the scene. Quinlan Vos took Held Ventress's lifeless body. Now this is where the interesting part comes in. Quinlan Vos gave his own Life-Force to Save & Bring Ventress back to life, like what we see in The Rise Of Skywalker. Personally, I believe this lines up for the Dark Disciple. I've never read Dark Disciple as I usually never read, so I may be wrong about my theory. But either way, I believe that Quinlan Vos used his own Life-Force to save Ventress, sacrificing himself in the process to save his one & only love. Tell me what you guys think!

I believe this to be a great idea. I read parts of the dark disciple a few months ago. The way you make it clear & understandable makes it easier to accept as to why Ventress is alive and well after the clone wars.

Force lighting talk: I believe if the emperor have wanted to, he could have killed Luke instantly with the lightning after he tossed his lightsaber away. Is it possible ? I think he just wanted to torture Luke first.
@hh-dm6cp8 ай бұрын
I mean he killed Vader pretty quick which there is the argument that he is mostly machine but even still… also his lighting in the sequels was ridiculously powerful so there is that. P.S. Sorry about reminding you of the sequels.

My first thought was it was a CLONE of Asajj Ventress (especially since this show seems so much about it w/ that mountain or whatever) - but that wouldn't make sense would it?

Bringing her back is a great idea. I dont think weve seen enough of her story. Kind of a similarity If you've only seen mauls story up to when he fights sidious and looses savage, the last thing you see is him getting electrocuted...you might think he dies but he comes back.

asajj is a night sister... so well.. they CAN come back someway or another, that's cool for me
@chancho9158 ай бұрын
I'm going to say it i think it is going to be unpopular. Bringing back Maul was a poor writing decision. It is now an excuse for the writers. Why did Reva survive? "Well Maul survived being cut in half." How is palpatine alive? "Well Maul used the force to survive." How did Asohka come back 3 times?"Well the force can do miraculous things. Look it kept Maul alive being cut in half." At this rate i wouldnt be surprised if Dooku came back as a talking floating head.
@esteban209695648 ай бұрын
maul gave 40% of clone wars best moments... do you think George would had kill maul in episode 1 if he though he will do something else after episode III? fck no.. he killed him because at the time he didn't need him anymore... if you wanna give a good end and background to a character, are you gonna shoot yourself in the foot just because "I killed him 10 years ago when i didn't even care about it"? or you just bring him back and develop that character and give him or her a proper progression and end??

In the canon novel Dark Disciple Ventress was lowered into the Water of Life on Dathomir. One of the canon attributes of the Water of Life is it resurrects the dead AND heals the wound that killed the person. Wookieepedia has an article on the Water of Life with the sources on its attributes. They didn't retcon her death nor does it go against canon.

I’m that case it just makes the Night Sisters retarded for not resurrecting their fallen sisters in the water every time one dies. No matter how you cut it, this is bad no matter how you cut it.

They're just using her to make her another Disney Girl Boss character. She has some fan support, so she's just another tool to turn in to their Lady Boss agenda. They don't care about the previous stories.

They have, as of late, been changing the lore from the books. As much as I loved the Tales of the jedi shorts about Dooku, they changed the lore from what was established in the book Dooku, jedi lost. I do not mind them bringing her back. The book was supposed to be clone wars episodes that got cut. It was Katie Lucas, yes we that Lucas, who wrote and was going to direct the episodes. I hope this deviation turns into a live action appearance. I agree, there is a lack of focus on strong female star wars characters and see Ventress back is a step in the right direction.

It says Vos took part in Nightsister rituals. Perhaps he's the one who healed Ventresss (off book) and maybe kept this fact/her hidden while she fully recovered 🤷♂️

Carl “The Duck Man” Barks was an Oregonian born in Oregon that created the Oregon Duck, Donald Duck in the comic book of the same name, Donald Duck Comics. He was known for changing people’s lives across the globe. If we can show our love again for the content that each creator made for Disney, then we don’t have to be divided like we are today.

I love Asajj. She's such a cool character. There is so much they can do with her. She's a nightsister. She was trained by one of the best lightsaber duelist to ever live. She kind of has that Revan light side/dark side thing goign on where she sort of appreciates aspects from both. And just her personality is really cool. Even her voice is great. I really loved her character arc in clone wars and am really excited to see her again in bad batch!

Well it’s not because they don’t give a shit about the book or consistency or even the concept of how resurrecting a character without any long term consequences can highly damage emotional investment or the stake’s established by the universe.

Like you said, if people who get CUT IN HALF and stabbed survive (sorry Qui gonn) then why couldn’t Ventress live? I had mixed feelings about her actually dying in the book. She’s always been one of my favorite characters from the show. Both versions of it, and I could listen to her voice all day 🥵. I hope she’s back for good, and I’d love to see something else with her and Quinlan later on, or even something with her meeting Merrin between Fallen Order and Survivor. Ventress was the reason Grievous massacred the Nightsisters leaving Merrin by herself when she was just a little girl, so that would be interesting to see them interact. My love for this well rounded character knows no bounds, so im definitely excited

I found something interesting about Maul getting cut in half. I might be wrong but he may not be the first person to cut in half and survive. There is a character in Star Wars Dark Forces game that survived and you have to fight him in the game.

Lucas viewed all the novels, comics, games etc as being completely separate to his story. They were basically licensed fan fiction (not a knock on fan fiction or the EU by the way, there are EU stories and fan fics I love). When Disney took over and said that everything they make, in whatever medium, would be canon and would line up properly, I was skeptical because I knew that the moment some big shot director wanted to tell a story that didn't vibe with established canon from a book they've never read, there would need to be some kind of retcon with a new novel or comic being written to explain discrepancies because the movie or TV show is always going to take precedence. This happened all the time during the prequel era, authors were having to jump through hoops because George would do something in the movies that didn't match a particular novel (Zahn's concept of the Clone Wars in Heir To The Empire being the perfect example). It's even happened in the Disney era to an extent. The entire post-ROTJ era of novels and shows have been trying to cover for JJ's bad ideas in Force Awakens to explain why the New Republic was a colossal failure and why the heroics of the OT heroes proved meaningless, all because Abrams doesn't have an original thought in his head and wanted stormtroopers in his movie. So I guess Filoni wanted to use Ventress in Bad Batch and now the story group has been tasked with a way of making that work. There will probably be some tie-in comic or novel to explain why she survived. This kind of thing is also very common in DC and Marvel comics. In any case, I don't think Ventress should have been killed in a book and since I view the entire Disney era as fan fiction anyway, I've no problem with bringing her back.

I hope with the nightsisters being more prominent in Jedi II and in Ahsoka, that it’ll be some form of night sister magic that revives her or heals her

I am wondering if the Ventress shown in the Bad Batch trailer is not the original Ventress, but is instead a clone. After all, season two ended on Mount Tantis on Wayland like in the original Thrawn trilogy. After all, a brief scene of Ventress showing off her force abilities for a brief moment doesn’t mean that she would not be a clone that eventually turns unstable like Jorus C baouth or an unstable Palpatine clone.
