This video was so helpful!!! A potential client asked me to look into Asana and it looks so much more powerful for the cost, but when I transferred my info I couldn't get it to work right. This video has kept me from quitting on clickup. Thank you so much!

You're so welcome! I would agree the ClickUp's cost is a major competitive advantage vs. Asana! Let me know if you hit any hiccups while making these tweaks!

Thanks for this! I've just transitioned from Asana to ClickUp, and although it was very daunting at first, I'm starting to see the benefits. It's early days, but I think there's no going back to Asana for me as ClickUp is so much more functional on the free plan than Asana ever could be. ❤️

As an Asana convert myself, I couldn't agree more! 😊

Had to pause your video 2 1/2 minutes in to say that you are saying exactly everything I have been thinking about Asana and clickup! I really wanted to use click up but found Asana easier to start with, now that I have the hang of Asana I am finding the lack of features frustrating. Plus the price point is muchhhh better for Click Up than Asana! Anyways back to your video. Just wanted to say thanks!

Very insightful video Layla. Thank you very much. I'm a Asana Partner but I'm seriously considering moving over to Clickup. I have tried many times to do it in the past but when I do, I'm so out of my comfort zone that I always go back to Asana. I'm looking at using Clickup up GTD style mixed with CRM functionality. That's what I have in Asana at the moment but Clickup and its many extra features. I'm using the free version of Asana. I work alone and Asana Premium is for a min. of 5 licenses. Why do I have to pay for 4 unused licenses? So here I come Clickup. I'll check out all your other videos. Thanks again for your work. 😊

Thanks so much, this has really helped. I've been using Asana for 5yrs and now moving over to CU I just couldn't figure out how to move everything across in the same way.

Hey Janet! I'm so glad to hear this helped! Ex-Asana users have been a real theme lately and I've been compiling quite a few resources trying to figure out the best way to explain the "reframe" needed to make the shift between the hierarchies! 😅 Are there any open questions for you still on this piece? I know this certainly didn't hit on everything! 🙂

The biggest issue I have right now is in my meeting agenda's. I found in Asana it becomes very cluttered because we assign meeting discussion topics to people so they know they need to talk about something and we also keep the task in the meeting so that it isn't forgotten about and we have it in our view to follow up on. I am struggling with how to section off the topics for meetings with upper management vs lower management since we all have break out teams that work on different projects and different businesses. Some businesses are in growth phase and some are in start up phase but I don't want a separate folder for each business so I haves to to minimize the visual clutter that was happening in Asana. This video was somewhat helpful. I think I just need to learn more about how custom fields work to understand how to translate the data.

Thank you for doing this tutorial. I am transferring all of my organization's information from Asana to Clickup manually. I am running into issues with my meeting agenda since my categories for my meetings are broken up into topics and not progress status's so I ran into a block for this space/folder area in clickup

Great video! I've been struggling to find the right tool to replace Asana. I was starting to set everything up in Notion, but discovered ClickUp today. It seems to have just the right amount of pre-built structure, while still allowing a lot of customization (lots of similarities between the two). You did a great job of "denormalizing" the asana example into proper field types (I cringed at the asana setup haha). As an engineer, I love seeing that process! ClickUp fits a lot better with a Systems Thinking approach. I was just about to ask/google about subtasks vs checklists, but I see you have a video about that! Sweet!

Has the setting up of custom fields changes, I'm so frustrated because keep getting this error A Custom Field ClickUp is not enabled in this location field 605. Was going to migrate from Asana, but I can't even get started in Clickup. Thanks, your videos are great!

Aw, thanks Andrew! I really appreciate it! I've gotta admit the system I use for creating these videos is a bit challenging to describe in a few sentences...but perhaps that could be a great topic for a future video!

Hi! I loved this video, super helpful. I might have missed it, but how do you have it set up so that the closed status is in a different list and so that the tasks automatically move there?
@LaylaPomper Жыл бұрын
Hey Fell! Do you mean a different List view? If so, when you create a new List view, ClickUp pulls the same tasks in the List. It's an additional way of viewing the same data. To show closed statuses, you click "Show Closed" in the List view, which will show you all tasks, including tasks under a closed status.

I operate a business that has several start up businesses which I need to include in our weekly managers meeting. I used sections in Asana to separate the actual businesses into individual to do's. I am sure this will be better once I figure out how to use this. I am using the template "meeting" but I don't know if it is causing me more frustration than just building it from scratch. Thoughts on using this particular template for multiple businesses to talk about in one meeting agenda?

Hi Layla. Great vids! I am trying to set up my ClickUp for refurbing property. And trying to make a Custom field in my LIst view so it states who is going to do the work (i.e. Task = Install bathroom suite - Custom Field = Plumber) BUT would like it to be able to be clickable so it goes to the list of Plumbers (Which will be a List in a Folder which will be a Contractor database/CRM. i.e. Folder = Contractor Directory - List = Plumbers... That List will contain a bunch of plumbers as different Tasks with phone number fields etc... SO either my main List of Works will have a custom field which brings me to the right Contractor List AND even better to that specific Contractor.. So May be have a tag for "Plumber" but have a Drop down for a specific Plumber that I can click on and go straight to him/her. Is that possible? Thanks in advance
@nickchinglish27733 жыл бұрын
The reason I ask on this video is because I would have set up a List of Plumbers under a heading in Asana.. but wasnt entirely satisfied with that idea. And your idea of setting those "Headings" as Drop downs and Labels is more what I was thinking for my above problem...

Hey Nick! I'm sorry for my delay because I HOPE you didn't create all this from scratch! The structure you're looking for would probably be best handled via Relationships feature. If you haven't already, this would be the video to watch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKXXlXuDdqikga8

I just went through the whole merging proces.. And now I get an error "You've exceeded 100 uses of custom fields" UGH. Any idea how to fix this? (without switching to a paying plan)
@LaylaPomper2 жыл бұрын
There is no way around this except upgrading. 😟 ClickUp severely limits Custom Fields on free plans.

We still use ClickUp as our main project management tool. There are certain areas that we have found work a bit easier on SmartSuite so we are experimenting there as well.
