don`t put that much attention of your circumstances, which is just a product of thought / Devil, like in the book of Job. Focus on the Lord instead & fast and your life will flourish. No attention to Devil destroys Devil, so just laugh about it. take it as a joke ("what is NOT") and offer it to God ("what is"). In faith difficulties vanish.

To all those reading this wanting to marry someone of another faith(or of NO faith): don't do it. I did and 10 years later, while we are still married, it hasn't been without extreme pain and suffering. It's a reason its a rule. Please. Just pray about it and get good guidance. Even a partner who says they don't care if you practice your faith, kids change everything. Your spouse can change and become more militant about their own beliefs (or in my case, lack of belief). Just don't do it. Trust me. Every choice you make has consequences and marrying someone who isn't on your level with faith, has big ones you cannot even fathom right now. The amount of suffering that is AVOIDABLE is not worth it. Yes, conversion stories like St. Monica's happen, and yes, God can do anything, but conversion comes within the heart. God won't force someone to accept Him. Please heed my warning out of love and charity - make another choice. Don't even consider becoming engaged to someone unless you know for certain you're on the same page about raising children in the faith. God bless you.

Mine was protestant and then he went full atheist. Now, of course people will say "Well Catholics can lose their faith, too". Yes, that's true. That said, you'll have way more in common with a PRACTICING protestant than any other religion. Have conversations about children (how they'll be raised - and don't give an inch on raising them Catholic, that's your duty, we either believe it's the true faith or we don't), roles in the family, etc long before engagement. I think that having a crush is easy. It's impulsive, short term, often starts from the things you stated (Can be other causes too), and isn't something that lasts on a long term permanent basis. Love is well beyond that, it's long term, everlasting term I'd say it should be, isn't always sunshine rainbows pretty, involves sacrifice, is often tough, but is all the more rewarding. A crush will get you a one night stand fling or short term relationship, love will get you a strong everlasting relationship. Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two. Louis de Bernières, Corelli's Mandolin It’s my favorite quote about love.

I have on only a few occasions felt physical attraction for someone not my husband since I got married. Did I act on those feelings? Nope. The love that I share with my husband is much deeper than mere feelings. Now, I did tell my husband about it, but that is also part of our relationship that we trust each other enough to share things like this. I would feel guilty about it if I didn’t tell him, because I would be hiding something. We don’t hide these feelings when they happen. We talk about it, clear the air, and remind each other how much love we really have together.

You owe it to your children and your grandchildren NOT to marry badly. After 28 years of abuse and suffering I can honestly say I wish I had heard any of this and been better advised but I wasn’t. I now am alone, broken, and struggling to see the good in any of my life. My children and grandchildren deserved better than what they got. It can be a conscious decision. I find the best way to do it is to stop and think about the reasons why you love your spouse. Observe the small details that make her/him cute and beautiful. As he's speaking this ... the song Marry You by Bruno Mars is playing in my mind. - Love this song~ however, the song is fun. Living it to that Fr. mentions here is very true. My late husband and I did all the firsts together. No feeling can make me "feel "like I'd want to enter into marriage again. Simply because I've loved and been. Love is more than a feeling indeed... we endure through love all the good and all the bad, it intertwines into so much more, we become aware of it's endless depth with presence. Feeling is something to that we can feel with anyone, but endless depth and presence in love... we can not. There is indeed divine providence and will to the very graces of this truth that entitles us in our relationship in marriage or togetherness. Feeling is only an expression to that love extends us in our depths of soul and self. - I think we need to hunger for the presence of depth in love not for the feeling of. - Great words from Father. God Bless ... and people feel the music, but live to do the dance. Just sayin...

I don't want to give you more work than you already have😁 so just a suggestion. If an adult 35+ asks you in confession what the feeling they have for someone else means just say "the feeling is spiritual and they should use resources they have to come to a good decision about their life. Resource means connecting the dots in their life that might have brought them here to feel this way, is their really something negative going on in my life, and say a priest can't help you it is out of my scope bc theirs more to it than the bible, philosophy or theology". God bless Fr. Mike. Anna

Hi, Father Mike, this is unrelated to this video, but if you ever see this, I need someone to explain this for me. If our thoughts come from our soul, shown by the fact that once we die, a corpse is all that’s left we can’t do anything that we could when our body and soul were United, if animals can make very basic decisions that are not purely instinct, wouldn’t they have some sort of immortal soul as well? I mean, as in the simple philosophy of the song Highwayman, “hung me but I am still alive” living minds can’t die after death as it is denied by logic. So, though animals are not intelligent enough to understand or choose to follow Jesus, they can build emotional connections as some sort of primitive love as shown by animals like wolves who non instinctively choose to mate for life, and never leave their partner as long as they live. Even if their minds can’t anywhere close to comprehend what a human can, wouldn’t they still have free will to the extent of what their mind can grasp? If you do end up seeing this, and wouldn’t mind at least briefly explaining if what I said was true to the Catholic faith and teachings, or if it’s still something we’ll never understand until we go to Heaven, or if I should be burned as a heretic, it would be greatly helpful. Thanks, Fr. Mike! Keep doing what your doing and changing lives! Love you, my guy! God bless!

Woah. This is absolutely perfect, Father. But let me be selfish, it is the love for God that wins all kinds of love. ❤️❤️ Thank you, father Mikkeeee!

Devil has access to our feelings but he doesn't have access to our will. So discern your feelings, not all are real.

You said the 'eros' romantic love does not make up for not sharing beliefs, values, approach to parenting, etc... I would have liked to hear your thoughts on when the person they are drawn to does share all those things---beliefs, values, parenting style, everything---while they do not have any of those things in common with their spouse. That is frequently the reason why some people are tempted away from their marriage, rather than the physical attraction stuff.

A man is supposed to see you as his wife not girlfriend. If he didn't than too bad for him. God has the right man 🙏 prepared for you, be patient. Everything good comes with time and if he doesn't come offer it up as a love sacrifice to God. I too am single and waiting at 37. Don't loose hope. Let us pray together that God in Heaven helps us find single Catholic/Christian men who pray, go to mass, and take women seriously. God bless you 😇❣️

I should have known this earlier. I wish my ex could see this. I am suffering a heartbreak right now, because of Eros.

Thanks for this video Father. I can’t help but notice how for the past few days, in the Bible in a year podcast, the Psalms you read differ by a verse from the corresponding day in the Bible in the year plan. I think the mismatch was the time we were reading Psalm 119. If I remember correctly, you first read Psalm 119:1-55 on the day the reading plan showed Psalm 79. God bless you for the awesome things you are doing and may His grace sustain you.
