Brother, "LAW" not sabbath, there is a lot of LAW in the bible. if its fulfilled I tell you its NOT Gods Law and or The 10 Commandments. What Christ talking about is the LAW from mankind sense from Abraham, Isaac, Moses, Jacob, and etc. that is the law, like Circumcision and sacrificing the Lamb, cause Christ is now the lamb who will sacrifice for our sin, and other law from them, not from GOD's Law, nor the Sabbath day. There is non in the bible that the "LAW of GOD" has been fulfilled" or "The 10 Commandments" has been fulfilled or "The Sabbath Day" has been fulfilled. Dont be fool! @@jo9354Many places suggest a change, not least the general fulfillment of the ceremonial law: Hebrews 4 for example speaks of “another day” and distinguishes rest in Christ and the Jewish sabbath. Also, the tradition of meeting on the first day of the week to celebrate the Eucharist is certainly present in the New Testament not to mention in the early church (breaking bread has historically been interpreted as the Eucharist, whereas modern evangelicals don’t want to see it that way). Like many modern evangelical readings of scripture, holding onto the Jewish sabbath rather than God’s rest seems to miss the substance of the law for the letter, ironically like the Pharisees. Unfortunately a comment section is not long enough to cite all texts and make a complete case.

Jesus is Messiah and he has already arrived, lived, died and resurrected. As Catholics, we right now living in the Messianic Olam Haba. God has put before us His feast, the Eucharistic sacrifice of thanksgiving. In the OT the day of preparation for the Sabbath is from Sundown Thursday to Sundown Friday at which point the Sabbath began. But what was Sabbath in preparation for? Rabbi Jacob explains that the Sabbath is the day of preparation for the Olam Haba. The seventh day = sabbath. So the eighth day is the day that they were preparing for. This is why in the NT the first day is also known as the eighth day as it follows the Sabbath. As you see, in the Olam Haba the day of worship is going to be the Eighth day/First day/Sunday when the Eucharistic banquet is set by God. To worship on Saturday instead of Sunday is to deny that we are living in the Messianic Age. It is a denial that Christ is the Messiah. He fulfils the last Sabbath by not disturbing it, rising on Sunday, fulfilling the Sabbath. If one is Jewish ie Hebrew Catholic it is fine to take part in Sabbath activities but the Sabbath must not replace the day of worship which is Sunday. How is this to be understood? The seventh day (Sabbath) is the day of preparation for the day that is to come in the Olam Haba (Sunday). God Himself will lay out the banquet. It is the Eucharist, the sacrifice of thanksgiving which the sages prophesied. The Pharisees were upset when Jesus did “works” of healing on the Sabbath, they were outraged that Jesus was healing on a Sabbath. Jesus healed on a Sabbath because He is the Lord of the Sabbath, the Sabbath has no power over Christ or His Church. Jesus said that He came not to abolish the law but to fulfill the law (Matthew 5:17). In fulfilling the law, He completed the law. How did He do this? Jesus fulfilled the Law by obeying the law perfectly and by completing the sacrificial system. Jesus saves to the uttermost! In what way can we offer one more sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins? Jesus pronouncement, “It is finished,” signified the completion and fulfillment of the law.

@@autumnwoe6356 The Church came into being when Christ died on the Cross, but it was formally inaugurated on Pentecost, when He sent the Holy Spirit as He had promised. St. Paul speaks of all Christians as members of Christ, so that with Him, they form one Mystical Body (Cf. 1 Cor 12:12-31; Col 1:18; 2:18-20; Eph. 1:22-23; 3:19; 4:13). St. Paul did not use the word Mystical. It was developed more recently to bring out the fact that this union is unique, there is no parallel to it. It is not the same as the union of a physical body, nor that of a business corporation. The Church, the Mystical Body, exists on this earth, and is called the Church militant, because its members struggle against the world, the flesh and the devil. The Church suffering means the souls in Purgatory. The Church triumphant is the Church in heaven. The unity and cooperation of the members of the Church on earth, in Purgatory, in Heaven is also called the Communion of Saints. When St. Paul uses the word "Saints" in opening an Epistle, he does not mean they are morally perfect. He has in mind Hebrew qadosh, which means set aside for God, or coming under the covenant. Being such means of course they are called to moral perfection. But of course, not all have reached it in this world. The word "Saint" in the modern sense means someone who has been canonized by the Church in recent times, or was accepted as such by the Church in earlier times. If a person is shown to have practiced heroic virtue--beyond what people in general do - in all virtues, the title "Venerable" is given; with two miracles by that one's intercession, the title is "Blessed"; two more miracles can lead to canonization and the title of Saint.

*** The Bible does infact show that Sunday is Christ's Sabbath and that it was God's plan before the foundation of the world. The Book of Deuteronomy clearly shows this. Sunday is Christ's New Covenant Sabbath. Here is how and why. In the Old Testament there are two lists of the Ten Commandments, one in the Book of Exodus and another list is in the Book of Deuteronomy: Ex 20:1-17 and Deut 5:1-21, both of which explain the purpose of the Sabbath but both explain the purpose of the Sabbath differently. The Book of Exodus tells us the purpose of the Sabbath is to rest and to remember God's creation, however, in Deuteronomy Moses tells us that the purpose of the Seventh day Sabbath is to remember the Exodus, that is, the Exodus from Egypt. The Old Testament is a prefiguration of the New Testament - the Old Testament points to its fulfilment in the New Testament. The Letter to the Hebrews tells us that the New Covenant is greater than the Old Covenant (Heb 8:6) - and that the New Covenant reality is made present in Christ Jesus - while the Old Covenant pointed to something greater to come - the fulfilment of the Old. Jesus Christ, by His death and resurrection, brought about the true Exodus - not from slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt - but the true and real Exodus from slavery to sin and death. If the purpose of the Sabbath in the Old Testament/Old Covenant was to remember the Exodus from Egypt - then the purpose of the Sabbath in the New Testament/New Covenant is to remember the True Exodus of which came through Jesus Christ, which is the Exodus from sin and death, and which is clearly greater than the Old Covenant Exodus; for Christ's Exodus was accomplished by his death and his resurrection - his resurrection which took place on the First Day of the week - Sunday - not Saturday. So Christians celebrate the true Exodus from slavery to sin and death on the day Christ accomplished it. In addition - by Christ's resurrection on the First Day of the week - Sunday - Christ has brought about a New Creation - which the New Testament confirms - Christ Jesus IS the New Creation and He IS First-Fruits. There are Sunday Sabbaths in the Old Testament (Lev 23: 9-14) called First-Fruits. God made the Jewish Feast of First-Fruits in the Old Testament to always fall on the Sunday - that is - the Sunday which followed the Saturday Sabbath in the week of Passover week - so Sunday Sabbaths are already given us in the Old Testament - and First-Fruits day is the very day on which Christ rose from the dead following the Passover Last Supper. God had always planned that Christ would rise on the First-Fruits Sunday Sabbath - and Christians obedient to Christ's First-Fruits Sabbath Resurrection - gather on every Sunday. The Letter to the Hebrews tells us that there is a Sabbath day for Christians to keep but that it is "on a different day." Heb 4:8-9, says 'For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains then, a Sabbath-rest for the the people of God.' Christians are bound to keep "a" Sabbath rest but this is "on another day" - Christ's Exodus Day - Sunday. So Christians celebrate and obey and fulful the requirements of both the Book of Exodus (creation - now a New Creation in Christ Jesus) and the requirements of the Book of Deuteronomy (remembering the Exodus from Egypt - now remembering the true Exodus from slavery to sin and death) by their Sunday celebration of the fulfilment and reality brought about by Christ on the First Day of the week - Sunday. Christians celebrate this on the day of the week Christ accomplished it. In Christ Jesus Christians through Baptism have already entered the heavenly Jerusalem (Heb12:22) and sit with him on his heavenly throne (Eph 2:6) - they already participate in the eternal heavenly rest - and Sunday is a foretaste of that eternal rest - Sunday Mass (and every day of the week when we go to weekday Mass) we enter into that eternal heavenly community of the angles who forever pray and sing "Holy Holy Holy, Lord God of Hosts.." - this is the Mass - this is what the Mass is for - we don't have to wait for death and for heaven after death - we can come to the heavenly hosts and join with them in the eternal praise of God. The Jews in their Sabbath keeping remember the week just past - but we Christians put God first in our week - by bringing everything we are and have, with and for Christ - Christ is the First and the Last - Sunday is the First Day of the week so we gather together to offer and give Him everything - and He gives us Himself - truly present in the Eucharist.

Hi if a person was to go to the cross we would find the day Jesus kept as of the 7th day sabbath The Jewish people called the 6th day was preparation day The Christian faith calls this good Friday The gospel of Jesus christ states the next day was the sabbath That Saturday Then on the first day of the week which is Sunday Jesus rose from his tomb The gospel tells that the apostle and the church rest on the sabbath do to the 4th commandment of God We need to asks ourselves a question? Why did Jesus and his father wait until Sunday morning to bring Jesus back to life They waited a whole day until the sabbath was over to bring Jesus back to life Here is the answer we're looking for. The father and son had to obey their own law of God because the 10 commandments are a reflection of sin The father and son won't sin so they had to wait a full day in where they wouldn't break their own law for each other for this would be an example for the rest of us on his holy day the 7th day sabbath Friends Jesus told us nothing in his laws would change from the dotting of the letter I or the crossing of the letter T would be altar in his law So why is the Christian faith keeping the 1st day of the week ? In order to understand all this then we have to understand what happened in 2nd thessalonians chapter 2 verse 3 an 4 2nd thessalonians chapter 2 verse 3 and 4 In no means let no man decieve you for first a great falling away will take place first and then the man of sin or the son of perdition will be revealed in his own time Who opposseth and exalteth himself above everything CALLED GOD and he siteths in a temple as of God When it states as of God This is insinuating that he sits on a throne on earth as of the father in heaven sits on a throne in heaven For this individual would opposseth and exalteth himself above everything CALLED GOD , what are the title that Belong to Jesus and his father ? The father in heaven is known as the HOLY FATHER Mathew chapter 23 verse 9 Jesus tells us, call no man on earth your father but only the one you have in heaven The pope comes along and he is a man who takes up the title of holy father in which that title is only given to the most high God in heaven Then what about the title that belongs to Jesus himself Dose the pope take up Jesus's own title? In mathew chapter 16 verse 18 The pope proclaims he is the successor of Saint Peter And then he the pope proclaims this makes him the Rock upon the church In 1 corthinians chapter 10 verse 4 The apostle Paul Is telling us That Jesus christ is the Rock upon the church, Not peter For in mathew chapter 16 verse 18 Jesus is the subject in that chapter and he Jesus is speaking of himself as the only Rock upon the church In mathew chapter 7 verse 24 to 27 Does Jesus tell us to build our house of faith upon the apostle peter or upon the Rock which is Jesus christ So the pope of Rome siteths in a temple and acting as God himself in heaven What about he opposseth himself What dose opposseth means ? Opposseth means to be a representative for God in heaven or become the 3rd member of a party What dose exalteth mean? To be set at the highest level of rank or be reverence by many So dose the pope opposseth himself above everything called God? Answer yes he dose. For here the facts to prove that the pope opposseth himself For Jesus told us in his gospel that no man can go to the father without going thru Jesus frist So the father becomes the 1st party Then Jesus becomes the 2nd party Then the pope comes along and he tells us if we are not within his catholic church we are found lost and they who are found lost have no relationship with Jesus So without being in the catholic faith and going thru the popes own authority we will not have a relationship with Jesus and then lose the opportunity of seeing the father in heaven So the pope is telling us, it's him who is on the bottom line of this structure, and he's the one who has the keys of heaven and nobody has a relationship with Jesus without going thru him first What about exalteth himself The pope proclaims he is the successor of Saint Peter the highest rank upon the catholic faith and he is reverence by 1.3 billion catholic and by the time Jesus returns that number will Tripple So if the pope is the man of sin or the son of perdition in 2nd thessalonians chapter 2 verse 3 and 4 What is the definition of son of perdition? Scripture tells us that definition John chapter 17 verse 12 Jesus himself brings that title to an individual John chapter 6 verse 70 and 71 Jesus points out who carries the title of son of perdition The apostle judas was that man Who was judas iscariot? Let's examine judas He was within the first church He was apostle of Jesus for he volunteered to be his apostle He betrayed Jesus and scattered the chuch by his agenda Jesus calls this apostle of his the son of perdition Here are some other titles Jesus give us The son of man is Jesus christ The sons of thunder are James and John the apostles for Jesus The son of perdition is an apostle of Jesus who let the devil enter into him to betray Jesus In 2nd thessalonians chapter 2 verse 3 and 4 The apostle Paul is using Jesus own ideal in John chapter 17 verse 12 to give the church a warning who will be the man of sin The popes are the only men on earth who proclaim and carry the title of the princes of the apostles of the gentiles for Jesus christ So the apostle Paul is telling the church look out for a man who claims he is an apostle for Jesus and he siteths in a temple and being as of God The pope sits in the gentile temple in Rome Saint peter Cathedral friends So what about the great falling before the son of perdition in verse 3 The pope recieve the throne of Caesar in 538ad justinian of pagan Rome seated a pope at the throne of Caesar and he vigilous ceased the cepther of Caesar and torch of Saint Peter and church and state became a union. What event lead to this? In 321ad Constantine Unites Christianity with paganism and then the rd was paved for a new religion and a church in where the whole would could unite under a deception What happened in 321ad? The uniting of Christianity and paganism were compromised Paganism excepted the son of God for the sun of god And Christianity sacrifice the 7th day of the week for the pagan Sunday observance of their sungod that they worship And ever since 321ad until our day that falling away has been massive And now the day has come where the church of christ is aware of the man of sin or the son of perdition would come from in the world And he's coming from Rome The catholic church Friends Jesus face a son of perdition in the 1st church and we that are in the last church will also face this issue with a fallen apostle who claims he an apostle for Jesus

"the 7th month, the 1st day of the month" can't always be a Saturday... or the 7th day of the week. But it is HOLY. And you have to do a Sabbath-Day. Strange, isn't it? Who was God communicating with? Was he communicating his commands to Israel or did he establish a covenant with the entire world? It is obvious he gave the commands to Moses, called the Mosaic Law, and it was a covenant between the Lord and Israel. It did not establish a covenant with the entire world. As gentiles, we were never in a covenant relationship with God until Christ. Thus, we are in the NEW covenant. Not part of the Law. The first apostles made that quite clear in their writings, but sadly so many refuse to read and heed them.

I have tried to find a biblical evidence and I have questioned with other Christians why they worship on Sunday and I have not found a compelling biblical argument in favor of Sunday worship. I believe there is an institute described in Daniel 7:25 that has tried to change sabbath to Sunday but is counterfeit.

Rabbi Yakov (Teacher of Judah haNasi/the writer of the Mishna) ) taught that the Sabbath is only a day of preparation for the banquet which will be laid out in the Olam Haba when Messiah comes. It is the Jewish apostles who began worshiping on the Eighth Day/Sunday (according to Jewish calendar)... the day following the Sabbath, because the Sabbath is now fulfilled. Foolish of followers of Christ to want to continue worshipping on Saturdays when they have no idea why/what Sabbath was for.

@Marriage4life THE END OF THE SABBATH LAW - What law of commandments separated Jews from Gentiles? The Law of Moses! One of those commandments was to observe the Sabbath. Ephesians 2:11-15 - Today, we are dead to the Law of Moses. That is the same law that said, 'You shall not covet' and also said, 'Remember the Sabbath day; to keep it holy.' The entire Law of Moses was nailed to the cross. Romans 7:4-7 - The only reason that we are not to covet today is because the Law of Christ commands us! Romans 13:9, Hebrews 10:1, 9 - Those who appeal to the old law make make themselves a debtor to do the whole old law. Galatians 5:2-3.

@the Prodigal Catholic Wrong! Keeping the sabbath was part of the law that Christ took away. “He . . . canceled out the certificate of death consisting of decrees against us . . .; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ” (Colossians 2:14-17). Christians are no more obligated to keep the sabbath than the other Old Testament festivals or its food and drink regulations! In fact, we are warned against going back to the Law to justify our practices. To do so severs us from Christ (Galatians 5:1-4).

I'm amazed this priest admitted the Sabbath was established at Creation. That means the Sabbath is not just for the Jews. Most Catholic priests and Evangelicals deny this. What puzzles me is that Aquinas would beg to differ with the good friar. According to Aquinas, the Sabbath was changed, not because of scripture but because of tradition and the authority of the Roman church. This can be read in Summa Theologica. By the way, there is no text in the NT linking the 1st day to the Lord's Day.

Tbh, I go to mass on saturday afternoon. I consider this as part of going to mass on Sunday. My reasoning for so is because back then, they would consider the start of the day when the sun went down. If you go to mass on saturday afternoon, than it would be basically a very early Sunday. That's how I view it and been told. But if we really think about keeping the sabbath holy, I find it goes beyond attending mass. It should really be a day to set aside. Maybe pray for a bit. Take a moment to realize how God is in your life, and what he has gifted you.

*** 1 The Old Testament gives us TWO lists of the Ten Commandments - one in the Book of Exodus and another list in the Book of Deuteronomy. The Ten Commandments in Deuteronomy 5:15 tells us that the purpose of the Sabbath is to remember the Exodus - that is - the Exodus from slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt. If the purpose of the Sabbath in the Old Covenant is to remember the Exodus from slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt, then the purpose of the Sabbath in the New Covenant is to remember the Exodus Jesus Christ brought about by His death and resurrection. Jesus Christ brought about the true Exodus - the Exodus from sin and death - which the Old Covenant Exodus was only a shadow. Paul tells us in Colossians 2: 16-17, that not only are the "ceremonial laws" a "shadow" but that the Seventh-Day Sabbath is a "shadow" also. Here it is in Paul's Letter to the Colossians 2:16-17 : '16. Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival (that's the annual Jewish feasts), a New Moon celebration (that's the monthly Jewish feasts), or a Sabbath day (that's the weekly Seventh-Day Sabbaths). 17. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.' "Shadow" does NOT mean "done away with", it means "transformed". The Old Covenant Passover feast was not "done away with" but was transformed by Christ himself into the Body and Blood of Christ at the Last Supper. The sacrifice of the lamb in the Temple was NOT done away with but transformed into the sacrifice of Christ (the true Lamb) on the Cross. The altar in the Temple was not done away with but transformed into the altar of the wood of the cross. A "shadow" is literally an outline on the ground or wall. A shadow on the ground is not me - I am the real thing - the shadow is only an image, an outline. So too, the "shadow" in the Old Testament has become the reality in Christ at his death and resurrection, which he accomplished on the First-Day of the Week - not on the Seventh-Day of the Week. That is why Hebrews tells us that there is still a Sabbath day for Christians to keep but that it is On Another Day - that is what Hebrews tells us - the Sabbath is to be kept but kept on Another Day - its right there in Hebrews. Hebrews 4: 8-11, specifically verse 8, shows us its on "another day" For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience. God had always planned that Christ would rise on the First-Fruits Sunday Sabbath - and Christians obedient to Christ's First-Fruits Sabbath Resurrection - gather every Sunday. Christians celebrate and obey and fulful the requirements of both the Book of Exodus (creation - now a New Creation in Christ Jesus) and the requirements of the Book of Deuteronomy (remembering the Exodus from Egypt - now remembering the true Exodus from slavery to sin and death) by their Sunday celebration of the fulfilment and reality brought about by Christ on the First Day of the week - Sunday.

Therefore the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Sabbath was created at creation !! NO exodus then!!! Only Adam and Eve!!! Mark 2:27-28 These verses contain a number of things critical to Sabbath keeping: Jesus refers to the Sabbath as a specific day; it is THE Sabbath, not a Sabbath. The Sabbath was not made for its own sake as were the other six days, but as a service to mankind. An alternate translation would be that it "was made on account of man." Jesus presents it as the Creator's specific and thoughtful gift to man. It was not made just for the Jews, but for mankind. When God created the Sabbath, He intended it from the beginning as a UNIVERSAL blessing to benefit mankind. He made it to help ensure man's physical and spiritual well-being. The broader context reveals a disagreement over how to keep it. Jesus claims to be its Lord, its Owner or Master, and He thus lays claim to His right to show by His example and verbal instruction how to keep it, not whether to keep it. Since He expresses no disagreement with keeping it, He implies that He expects man-not just Jews-to keep it. He has a perfect opportunity here to reply that it does not matter if men keep it, but He gives no such indication. John W. @@chrismason8476 Mark 2:27-28 These verses contain a number of things critical to Sabbath keeping: Jesus refers to the Sabbath as a specific day; it is THE Sabbath, not a Sabbath. John W. The Holy Roman Empire under Constantine I changed the sabbath to Sunday in order to make it easier for the pagans to convert, they worshipped their sun gods on Sunday. That is where saints come into play, to make it even more easier for pagans to covert, they switched out all their deity’s for “saints”.. til this day Catholics will say “if you lose your keys pray to Saint Anthony” nobody should be praying to any saints. We don’t need any intermediaries. God hears our prayers directly, we don’t need to go through saints to speak to our father. Catholicism is paganism wrapped in a bow. It didn’t start that way, but over the years has become so corrupted. Jesus wasn’t born on Christmas, this another bit of paganism that Catholicism snuck into their doctoring, Christmas is a pagan holidays, which is why we buy pine trees and put them in our homes, the pine tree decorated with gold and silver is a pagan ritual. They talk it about it in the Bible, Jeremiah 10:1-5 "Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen … For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree".. all of these pagan practices that have made their way in to Christianity is due to the corruption of Catholicism.

The word rest means (Nuach) in Hebrew: To lay your weight down, a cease of business and activities, a more modern translation meaning is to be refreshed. In Psalm 23, you get a beautiful picture of this. Although many think of this as the psalm to read at a funeral of a loved one, it actually has nothing to do with death, but the refreshment and nurturing of rest in Christ and IMHO the rest of Sabbath. Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel wrote a fabulous book called "Sabbath". It was his favorite subject to discuss. A gem of a book. Even if you are not a Jew it offers a view of Sabbath that is very beautifully written, which can enrich a Christians understanding of it's Biblical history and the future celebration of it in Heaven with the Messiah.

Thank you Fr. Mike for your explanation, however i am still not confident. i feel that when we received the 10 commandments, God didnt intend for them to change or be interpreted differently. So i feel hesitant to call Sunday the Sabbath. Going back in time the day of rest (Sunday) became the day of rest as follows - Sunday was another work day in the Roman Empire. On March 7, 321, however, Roman Emperor Constantine I issued a civil decree making Sunday a day of rest from labor, stating: All judges and city people and the craftsmen shall rest upon the venerable day of the sun. I think when the Lord rose from the dead on Sunday isnt that day of celebration, a new day, a new beginning, the first day to a new covenant not the last. FYI i am an active practicing Roman Catholic who is studying the faith and wanting to understand our teaching not just skate by. Please dont take my comment / questioning as persecution.

Now, please think about this: "the 7th month, the 1st day of the month" can't always be a Saturday. It can't always be the 7th day of the week. But it is HOLY. And you have to do a Sabbath-Day. Fr. Mike, Jews believe that in the Olam Haba, that the day of worship on Sunday. This is evident in the Mishna, Pirkei Avot 4, and in the commentaries. Rabbi Yaakov ben Kurshai, the teacher of Yudah haNassi explains this. The Sabbath is the vestibule through which one enters into the Olam Haba - the Messianic age. In the banquet room of the Olam Haba, the Lord Himself would lay out the banquet. The Jews believed that the sacrifice in the Olam Haba would be a bloodless thanksgiving sacrifice. The word used by the Hellenic Jews was Eucharist. As the commentaries explain, one must repent of their sins before eating at the banquet feast of the Olam Haba. However, unlike the sacrifice of the lachem hapanim (bread of the presence of G-d) and wine before the Kodesh Hakodashim in the temple which was eaten by priests alone, this thanksgiving sacrifice was to be eaten by all. The Sabbath itself was understood to be a preparation for the Olam Haba which was to come. It is due to this understanding that the early Catholic Jews referred to Sunday as the Eighth day as the Seventh Day was a preparation of the Eighth day.

Thank you very much for your comment. There is a lot of need of experts of Jewish teaching and thorough Jewish interpretation of the Torah, like you, to fully understand Catholicism. Only a few people understand that if your Faith is that the *Jewish Messiah* (Jesus Christ) has arrived then you are Catholic. All the other interpretations do not refer to the *Jewish Messiah.* (Or, in the best case, they are good ok but seriously *incomplete* interpretations of the Jewish Messiah. In the worst case, they are just pagan stories about a non-Jewish Messiah).

@@lishmahlishmah Well the Tanakh (the Jewish OT) leaves out much, so that the people themselves become the living scripture. The Jewish faith is not based on the Tanakh but on Torah Shebaal Peh. That understanding of the Olam Haba is from the Torah Shebaal Peh (Oral Tradition) and found in the Mishna. G-d forbad Moses from writing the Torah Shebaal Peh because G-d wanted the Jewish people to become the living scripture, the living tradition so that the faith was transmitted from generation to generation through parents and the culture. This is why Christ never wrote a book, He taught the apostles and disciples an oral tradition. Just like Judaism, Catholicism is meant to be transmitted by parents to children and through the culture. Parents are the living scripture to children. This is also why Tradition is so important,

In fact, the change of the day is concretely backed by the Catholic Church itself which in many times of its historical endorsements and letters say that the Church had (and still has) the authority to change the Sabbath from the seventh to the first day, which it did -- and that this change is the most powerful evidence that the Church can dispense the word of Bible. The church also, therefore, changed the ten commandments so that the fourth commandment which commands us to remember to keep the Sabbath, is removed and replaced from the Catholic Church. So the hard truth is this: If you believe the Church you should go to church on Sunday. If you believe the Bible, you should go to church on the Seventh day (Saturday).

Very deceitful Eisegesis! There is no Biblical text that claims the sanctity of Sunday... Only Opinions... Sunday originated only as a tradition due to Constantine. The Biblical Sabbath (Saturday) Has, Is and Will Remain Sanctified throughout eternity. See: Revelation 22:14 and Isaiah 66:22-23 KJV Sanctity of Sabbath is the Seal of God. sanctity of sunday is the mark of the beast. It's all about worship.

Wrong! Jews and christians do not have different days of worship. God, alone made the days at creation and he alone could rightly claim a day as his day of worship.....and he has claim the seventh day of the week as his.....In fact , he called it my holy day (Isaiah 58: 13) In Exodus 20: 10 God called the weekly seventh day sabbath "the sabbath of the Lord thy God". One day Jesus met some guys "messing" with one of the commandment....and told them THEIR WORSHIP WAS IN VAIN.(See Mathew 15 :9 Any one found messing around with God's ten commandment will be told the same since God does not change. See Malachi 3:6.. .Psalms 89:34 ......Hebrews 13;8. 1Corinthians10:4. God wants us all to keep his ten commandments .... See Ecclesiastes 12: 13 ,14....John14:15. God also warns us of its importance.See Hebrews 10:26.God uses his ten commandment to DEFINE SIN /POINT OUT SIN. See 1John 3:4 The bible said the seventhday weekly sabbath WILL BE KEPT IN HEAVEN ...... NOT SUNDAY. See Isaiah 66: 22 , 23. The bible also say sabbath keepers...... NOT SUNDAY keepers will be saved! In Isaiah 26:2 God is opening the gate of heaven for people who keep the truth. In Psalm119: 142 we are told GOD'S LAW IS TRUTH.. The seventh day weekly sabbath is PART OF GOD'S JUDGEMENT LAW. See Psalms 19:7 ....Romans 7:12 See Exodus 20: 1 - 17.

But thank God for His mercy and forgiveness for those who KNOW NOT what they do!! Acts 2 ) Sooo, being since YHWH's Feast Days are indeed "shadows of things to come" and "The Body Of Christ" ... ( Col 2 : 16 - 17 )... And He fulfilled The Spring Feasts with His "1st Coming"; ... That's why many people believe that Christ, will likewise, fulfill the prophetic timing of, The Fall Feasts, at His "2nd Coming"! ( Lev 23 : 23 - 44 ).

WHAT? I'm a Jew and know what "sheva/7" means. It does NOT mean covenant. The significance of “seven” is woven throughout our lives and experience. The seven branches of the Temple Menorah. The sprinkling of blood seven times in the Temple. The seven days of shiva. The seven days of celebration for chatan and kalah. Seven aliyot. Seven mitzvoth required on Sukkot. Seven major days of celebration in Jewish calendar. Seven days of nidah… and on and on.

There's 2 huge problems with your explanation. First of all, the ot says clearly that you will keep the sabbath on SABBATH and it says this will be forever. It can't change. Second of all, the word Sabbath does not at all mean covenant in Hebrew. Where in the world did you get that from?

Whenever the Bible says ' Forever " in the great majority of cases it just means a long period of time that does have an ending. The Sabbath is a Covenant between God and His people. The Jewish Sabbath, and the Christian Sabbath.

@@alongcamejones309 Thank you for the info. I did not watch these videos for I did not know which one and they are 2 hours long. However, I was curious so I googled it and I do see many talk about a few instances where you are right and when it says "forever" it does not mean forever. It does almost always mean for as long as possible like by Hannah but it is only for as long as she is alive. You could always say sabbath is also only as long as possible so I agree it wouldn't prove that this means forever with just the word "forever". This is why I enjoy commenting on these videos because it gets me thinking about things I would not have noticed before and educates me and actually reinforces my belief so much. That being said, there is actually a noticeable difference when it says "forever" in many situations including the sabbath. When mentioning the Sabbath and many more times when mentioning the commandments in general, it always accompanies forever with "throughout your generations" or "for your children" or "for your offspring". I can't say this proves it is really forever but there is a reason why this is and I don't know of any instances where these words accompany the word forever and it doesn't really mean forever. There are no extra words in the bible so this is telling me something. I think it seems pretty clear it means any child ever born after you which would mean FOREVER.

@@nothingbutthetruth613 It's the type of language the Bible employs that misleads many people. i.e. Rev 13 ' All the world followed after the Beast ' 'All ' doesn't mean 'All ' and ' World ' doesn't mean 'World ' I believe in this particular verse. ' All ' just means a majority and the Greek word for World 'GE' can also equally mean Earth , World , Land. So I see this verse in Rev 13 as saying : The majority of the inhabitants of the Roman Empire approved and supported and admired their Emperor and their Pagan Roman Empire. For me the first 19 chapters of Revelation were fulfilled in the first century and don't have any direct relevance to the 21st century.

If you do enough research you’ll find the Catholic Church changed the solemnity of the Sabbath to Sunday. The church also states that it made that change because of her own power to do so. If you go back even further, before the first bishop of Rome, Emperor Constantine made the decree to change the Sabbath to Sunday in 321 AD. The Sabbath is the same today as it was when established in creation, before sin. The seventh day!

In the Council of Laodicea it says:” Christians shall not Judaize, by resting on the Sabbath, but must work on that day, rather honoring the Lord’s day; and, if they can, resting then as Christians. But, if any are to be found as Judiazers, let them be anathema from Christ.” In Mark 2:27, Jesus says “Sabbath was made for man.” In the Strongs concordance G444, it means anthropos, a Greek word for mankind or one of the human race. The 4th commandment says the 7th day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God. It also refers back to creation, and honors God as our creator. Jesus died on Friday, but He rested on the Sabbath which you failed to mention. God bless you for your efforts, but they are very misleading. You know the Papacy changed the Sabbath.

The Shabbat is the "day of rest" in Hebrew. The mankind can rest from the resurrection of Jesus Christ, in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Only then, could man understand that he was freed from sin, because of Christ's sacrifice. Only in that moment the man (I mean the Jewish believer in the Messiah or the Gentile believer in the Messiah) could understand what day was the definitive Shabbat on the earth. Waiting for the everlasting Shabbat in Heaven. Just observe the progressive meaning that God indicates to man: Exodus 20 "Remember that you are to sanctify the day of the Sabbath. (...) For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all the things that are in them, and so he rested on the seventh day. For this reason, the Lord has blessed the day of the Sabbath and sanctified it." Deuteronomy 5 "Observe the day of the Sabbath, so that you may sanctify it, just as the Lord your God has instructed you. (...) Remember that you also were servants in Egypt, and the Lord your God led you away from that place with a strong hand and an outstretched arm. Because of this, he has instructed you so that you would observe the Sabbath day." (freedom from Egypt) New Testament: "And the Word became flesh". (John chapter 1) The Word of God is Jesus Christ, the Messiah. He shows you the Shabbat. He shows you your rest and your freedom when He rises from the dead. Now, you can truly rest. He makes the Shabbat. He is the Shabbat. _"Remember that you are to sanctify the day of the Sabbath"_ In Hebrew: "The Day of the Rest"
@lishmahlishmah3 жыл бұрын
If you want one more evidence that the word "shabbat" means "rest" in Hebrew, the Bible gives you the evidence: KJV Leviticus 16:29-31 "And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that *in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month* , ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you: For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord. *It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you* , and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever." "A shabbat of rest": a much better translation (from Hebrew text) would be "a rest of rest", that's to say "an absolute rest". You can easily understand that "the 7th month on the 10th day of the month"... can't always be a Saturday. So, do you think God is changing the Shabbat day, even in the First Testament? Even in the Torah? Moreover, do you think that on Shabbat-Saturday you should "afflict your souls, by a statute for ever" ? Really? I don't think so. The Bible tells us that God, - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - is guiding man, step by step, to understand the true meaning of Shabbat. The Messiah, the Word made Flesh, the Torah made Flesh, reveals to believers the ultimate meaning. Together with the new day for Messianic Age (on the earth) : after the first Shabbat only for Jewish People, the Messianic Shabbat for all People. This is *the 8th Day* in Jewish teaching. Before the everlasting Shabbat Day of the Kingdom of God.

*Some more evidence?* Leviticus 25:1-10 King James Version "And the Lord spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then *shall the land keep a sabbath unto the Lord.* Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; But in *the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the Lord:* thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard. That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is *a year of rest unto the land.* And *the sabbath of the land* shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee. And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat. *And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee,* seven times seven years; and the space of the *seven sabbaths of years* shall be unto thee forty and nine years. Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family." Now, again, "the 7th month, the 1st day of the month" can't always be a Saturday... So, why does the Lord call "Sabbath" this day... if it is NOT the 7th day of the week??? Uhm... Strange, isn't it? What He said yesterday, He means it today and He will mean it tomorrow, if stealing was a sin, its still a sin, then it will always be a sin. None of the commandments were metaphorical in nature, they mean what you read. God is love and He is the Law, all of it, not some of it. When Jesus walked thw earth, He observed the sabbath too, dont be fooled by "modern day" teachings.

Slight error which leads to major misunderstanding: Yeshua was not crucified on Friday. He stated that there would only be one sign given that he was who he claimed to be. As Jonah was thre days and three nights in the belly of the fish, so shall the son of man be three days and three nights in the earth. His resurrection occurred after sundown after shabbat which, according to the Roman calendar would be Saturday night. You have to count 3 full days and nights backwards, otherwise his testimony of himself would have been false. His crucifixion would then had to occur on Wednesday, which was the preparation day prior to the High Shabbat of Passover. That is why the gospels account for a reference to removing him from the cross prior to the onset of shabbat (Passover). THEN the gospels reference Mary Magdalene and the women purchasing spices to annoint his body prior to discovering him resurrected prior to sunrise on the first day of the next week. They would not have been able to purchase spices on the day prior to the Sabbath unless there was a non-sabbath day in which to purchase them. So we have Yeshua crucified on Wednesday on the eve of the Pesach (a high sabbath), then Pesach, then Friday, when the spices would have been obtained. Friday at sunset brings the weekly sabbath. Then upon the sun setting, the next day would begin as what we call Sunday, or the first day.

The Lord’s day was always and only the 7th day. Jesus rested on the Sabbath at creation and he rested on the Sabbath after the cross. The new covenant was in the Old Testament. All New Testament Christians kept the 7th day Sabbath.
