when soldering, the hand with the soldering iron don't let your hand hover in mid-air, rest it on the table. this makes ur hand steady and makes it a lot easier to solder. i learnt that the hard way

Awesome job Hugh. Nice and clean mod. Stop the rattle just add a tiny piece of two sided foam tape. But this is still a great mod left a like and enjoyed watching

Have you experienced any voltage loss with a longer cable? I wanted to do long, so i can carry a battery in a pocket and don have that weigh on my head and it turned out that voltage loss is so huge that googles just show a "low voltage" and turn off

Hi, I'm about to do the mod bcs the stock battery is bad and it discharges in like 10 min. Can you please recommend the right Lipo battery to attach? I got a XT60 connector. I need the battery to provide power for about 1 hour.

I recommend adding kapton tape to entire back of the screen. The back of the screen looks like thin-steel or aluminum, and it's is conductive. One youtuber demonstrated in his battery mod video that this metal back is charged at something like 5v, so it causes bad interference if the screen touches the circuit board. (It was happening to me.) Yeah, so about 2 or 3 single layer pieces of kapton tape did the trick! (depending on the width of the tape. I think I have a roll of 2" wide kapton.) I hope this helps someone!

I did this mod with 18650s and my goggles cutout at 7.4v not sure what the deal is.

That's very cool. Those are they same goggles I have. The battery indicator is very unreliable so I usually end up using an external battery anyway. I might as well follow this video and remove the internal battery to make these goggles lighter. Thanks, Hugh.

So basically buy a jst 1.25 to whatever adapter, run external and play. Sounds super easy. I only say adapter because my hobby shop is a couple blocks away and makes any connections you request on site

Hi, can I use 3s lipo for this?

what external battery do you recommend? whats the minimum C rating or does that not matter.
@AsgardStudios3 жыл бұрын
Hi Niels. Currently I'm using the stock battery externally, and I'd probably stick with that size. I don't think C rating is important at all for the goggles. Mainly it's important for the quad, and only if you are racing or doing big punchouts etc. The goggles don't draw nearly the same power as the dron itself does.
@jonathancharlesferriols12083 жыл бұрын
Wow great idea. Can I also direct the power to a power bank supply instead of a lipo?

Does anyone know if the helmet supports 4s battery?
@kennyinuk54202 жыл бұрын
thanks for that , i have just managed to break off my micro usb charging connector on my Makerfire VR goggles - this will be a much better (upgrade ) option than to repair /replace the little port . 👍😁

Great Video, got mine working however when I have my sd card in the goggles after adding the external battery my goggles switch off, then if i take out my sd card it works fine, had anyone else had this problem?
@jackr6690 Жыл бұрын
I've had this issue with stock ev800d goggles. Reformaatted the sd card and the problem went away.
