Maybe the reason for charging port not being USB is because it can take voltage up to 18 not 5v standard USB. You can use 4s lipo with adaptor plug to charge this kind of goggle.

This is not an argument. You can make any adapter. But my native battery is only enough for 20 minutes of flight. I still had to solder the stupid adapters...

​@@MrCrankSeryou can, but then you are throwing a 18V micro USB adapter on the marcet someone could accidentally plug into their Phone. Also I think you are not allowed to do that under USB specifications.

From an actual user (me): The 800D has a larger screen of 800*480 while the 800DM has a smaller 900*600 screen (so higher resolution with smaller dimensions). Makes sense if you're about to use an extra lens in front of it to accommodate the user wearing glasses of whatever strength. Don't know if the screen dimensions are also exactly 1.4x smaller compensating the resolution fully. So it is in theory aiming at same experience but it actually depends if your glasses aren't too wide. I remove mine for that very reason and then I have to extend the box length (which can be done easily) so in the end the screen will be smaller to look at (for me). If your glasses fit however, it might get to a close match of the 800D experience, but without the hassle of removing your glasses. So best tip here is to measure the width of your glasses and if they don't fit into a rectangular of box 13 cm * 4 cm (with a margin) you'll better off with the 800d (as you will be removing your glasses anyway).

I removed the battery from the EV800D and use a 4000, 2s battery on a cord, and proper lipo charger. A ton of flying time. Noticed a bit of improvement in wearing comfort too.

Hi man, can you please explain if by "on a cord" means that you connected the 2s to the old socket that the 1s was ? Can I replace the old 1s with a new 2s and don't fry the board ?

The EV800D has a 5-inch screen with 800x480 resolution. The EV800DM has a 3-inch screen with 900*600 resolution. Do you think the resolution of the EV800DM helps to overcome the limitations imposed by the smaller screen and smaller magnification? Appreciate your inputs.

Thoroughly enjoyed the review. I have the ev800d and absolutely love them! Perhaps someday I may get a proper goggle like Skyzone OLEDS. But for now I'm spoiled with that huge screen. Hitting gaps you become very easy with those. If what you say is true I will be a true Master with proper goggles. I couldn't resist I did order the goggles in this review. When I get them which should be in the next few days, I will let you know what I think. I ordered them because I wear glasses and I'm hopeful this will improve my fpv experience. Although I suspect I will continue to fly with my ev800d 's. I just can't get away from my big screen.

Get the 800DM over the 800D. It is alot better in the long run as that screen will show the lively image of a caddx ratel. 800s just don't have enough resolution.

Hi Sam Great video and information on the EV-800m and I loved the 800D's, I had used mine for a year before I got AOMWAY Commanders, but I haven't seen it in person but every one is saying that the focus is not the greatest. Now I use the 800d for a monitor. Thanks again for the info and have a good week.

the buttons are better than the ev800d, press them too many times and the bottom of the button breaks and stops working, they should use a board that sticks to the case with a ribbon, i guess they dont cus of cost, same as why they use the cheaper barrel jack power connector. theres got to be an abundance of those things.
