love history so much thanks for this video. i am an Adangbe from the Ga adangbe tribe of ghana. we also joined with the british at certain times to fight the ashantis when they wanted to fight us as a revenge

I have this Ashantee Medal with Clasp to a guy from the 42nd Black Watch , it is a lovely looking medal , and the reverse so un-PC !! - delightful

You are probably correct. The Ashanti were very capable of defending themselves but not against a much better equipped army. Thank you for watching. Rob

But Ashantis were also armed with European guns

@littlegenius6932 the English had advanced weaponry that can fire multiple rounds. Also , the british brought soldiers from jamaica, India, the islands nd also from nigeria mainly the hausa tribe, also had tribes in ghana like the fante nd the GA tribe all together to fight the Ashanties.
