Lovely video fella it's a great thing to do when working long hours day in day out to have a good brew & clean up even more so when it's a project at home it's bring a tad bit of focus & clarification on what your doing take care fella

Hi, thanks for your review. So, does the shaft area need to be greased? thank you.

Hi Nigel, I took out my rear flange and drive shaft, at 268,000km, at the time, all replaced with original LR drive shafts, but all in one. The latest Puma versions have mounted this version at the rear, precisely because of the problem of shaft and flange shelling. Be that as it may, I agree with you, that Ashcroft produces excellent products.

I got cap heads from Accu in 12.9 with a proper bolt flat on them, they do them in black and stainless.

Same on my 03 TD5, no grease on either of the fronts and rusty all the way through.

This is exactly what I’m looking for, a quick question, as the Ashcroft ones a a tight fit, if I was replacing these in situ, in other words still on the vehicle, would tapping them in place be an issue? or would it be better removing the shafts and putting the new flanges on?

Good question. I should imagine "tapping" will be OK, but any more than that could cause issues?

Hey Nigel, i just bought two sets of these as well for my 110 td5 from 2001. had a bunch of oil and grease and crut and rust even actually seeping out of those OEM rubber caps I decided I'd upgrade for something proper. got one mounted in the back without any dramas. however I'm having a bit of a hard time on the front? it seems like the half shaft on the front isn't sticking out enough the get the retainer ring on? is it not needed? done a bunch of upgrades to my Td5, lovely vehicle and was in need of some love and actually hopefully for now this is the last to get in back to real nice condition. anyway I appreciate the detailed explanation and maybe I missed how to do the front ones properly :p thanks a bunch regards Hugo

YES!!!! You need that circlip and shims on the front to stop the CV smashing into the inside of your swivel. Theres a thread in the end of the shaft, use a bolt and grips to pull it through. You didnt miss anything, I haven't fitted them yet.

Not a bad idea to convert to oil lubed hub by using 3511 seals and cutting out the inner seal in the stub axle so oil can pass from the swivel housing to the hub

The £35 HD ones are just as good. Been using them over the years. Ashcroft make some good products but these are unfortunately overpriced.

I think it's fair to say, that's a snug fit for the flanges.
