The look on Reba's face when Asher won was something more than pride or happiness. She was deeply moved. She knew very well just how hard it would be for a large flamboyant Black man from Selma to win the majority of america's votes. Reba is a very graceful woman, but her heart was right there for all to see. Asher deserved to win. She knew it, John knew it, Chance knew it. And just because she is indeed REBA - her obvious love, support and delight in Asher and his magnificent talent guided him to the win. This never happens on The Voice. A beautiful thing to see. And at 69 she sold this duet with him too. Nice to see secular DIVA Reba and a more smooth, mellow, Asher. What a great night!

I haven't heard Reba's version. I actually didn't know she had done this song. That's what I love about these shows: They introduce me to newer artists and songs I've never heard and they remind me of music I haven't heard in decades sometimes but used to love. It's like being around young folks again lol. I never used to listen to country music unless it popped up on the radio, but it's changed a lot over the years and apparently my ears have changed quite a bit too lol. So thanks for the info, I will definitely take a listen to Reba again!

I love Asher to death, but to say that Reba was holding her own, is very strange to me---she is much more of a powerhouse than he is---but I forget that there are people who are not as familiar with her voice/songs.

I'm guessing because you didn't expect a Country singer to be able to sing R&B; but, Reba had a hit, with this song!!! Reba has covered lots of R&B: Aretha, Diana Ross, and Beyoncé, too, to name a few---and has even sung with Michael Jackson, JHud, Natalie Cole, and Travie McCoy (rapper)!! My philosophy is that Country, Rock, Gospel, and R&B are VERRRRY closely related---it's all about that bass, no treble (LOL)---maybe because, for instance, so many Country and R&B singers started-out/found their voice, by singin' in church!!

@@catwhisperer9489 Reba's version of If I Were a Boy is pretty great. They put some Beyonce style reverb on it and her voice just *rings* out. Reba was famous for her mini movie storytelling songs and videos. She may be sweet and humble on the voice but REBA is the only one name country DIVA. She's pretty country when she speaks, but her vocal talent and musical ambition have taken her many places. She did a stellar run on Broadway in Annie Get Your Gun. Sang the Irving Berlin songs beautifully. Her duet with Natalie Cole is wonderful on a Bacharach classic. Google Reba - Sweet Dreams of You, acapella, and listen to the power, agility, range and resonance of her VOICE. She's confident. I don't think she's ever embarrassed herself in what she tried to do. She drops back and gives props to Kelly Clarkson wailing when they duet on Up To The Mountain. Kelly and Reba did a whole tour together, singing each others songs and sounding soulful and devine. Not a country fringe or rhinestone in sight. Reba recorded a gorgeous cover of Please Come to Boston. She even sang a very stripped down version of "If I Fell" by the Beatles. Reba has a yodel and church inflections, a great voice and the performance ability of a superstar. The main criticism of her from Country fans was that she did too many riffs and runs, got too big for her britches, and wore them low-cut dresses! ❤

This gave me chills. Queen Reba shines as well as Asher. I never pictured those 2 singing together, much less this beautiful performance. Reba really showed her coaching shops with this win. As the new "country" judge, she took Asher who has a very different and individual style to the top. His voice and talent is undeniable, but we have seen in previous years that doesn't matter without the right guidance in song choices. Reba had obvious pride in Asher's win. She had to know as someone else commented that Asher could have hard time winning votes .
