I was holding down a player-controlled Burning Blade for my crew by trying to kill as much of the player and skeleton crew as possible. There were only a few skellies left, when suddenly one of the players of the Burning Blade completed a ritual on a nearby Skeleton Camp. This caused a respawn wave for the skeletons, which completely overwhelmed me. It was unbelievably cool and the event is absolutely awesome. Rare knocked it out of the park.

They really need to stop locking skelly cosmetics behind hourglass. You have to complete two prerequisites to get some items. A better way to go about it would be to either complete the commendation OR get the allegiance level to unlock it. That way hourglass players still have something to earn, and people who don’t like the repetitivity of hg, can earn it by doing the Burning Blade, or similar tasks. Even during xp boosts, I hardly feel motivated to do hg

In general the coats look cool as hell and I want to wear one as a skeleton There's already skeleton npcs wearing them and in general pirates are spoiled for choice for these coats so skeletons ought to have atleast one

I have so far sunk 2 Blades, and both have been this server wide brawl of the blade crew versus the world. It has been so fun. It feels so chaotic and adventurous. We gotta see how long the interest in the event will last, but as of now, extremely fun.

Took my Gally crew *six hours* to finally find a Burning Blade World event to claim as our own... but once we did it was PANDEMONIUM. We crushed Galleons, Brigantines, Sloops, claimed 8 camps and turn the ship in with 3 ships on our tail. The music, aesthetic, the details, its all amazing. You even get darker "hit" sound queues when firing on other ships. The BB is tough, potent, lethal, and I cant wait to play around with it more. -- My only gripe is that Flameheart himself did not get a little cinematic intro like LeChuck, no mystery, no tall tale, no in-game sequence where he arrived and gloated or anything. You just downloaded the patch, and there he sits.

This is the biggest update I craved for, Just what makes me disappointed is just well the skelly curse cosmetics. I understand there is a big gab of cosmetics between levels but. Lets be real. Players who play casually or retired HG players (me) have to go back into it again. And knowing it's state. It'll drive me away from it and other players too which it's just unfortunate. Yeah, I'm pretty new, maybe like 15 hours total, and any time I try hourglass somebody immediately cannons onto my sloop and one shots me before I even see them. Like I don't even get to play the game, I just die in less than a minute.

So one thing to note: SUPPOSEDLY doing rituals replenishes the skeleton crew while in command of the burning blade. If you have a rough fight and find a quiet period, do the rituals.

Its been so so long since ive seen 4 boat fights. During update day, we had two 4 boat fights and a 3 boat fight. I havent done the skeleton camp stuff but the update is awesome in the sense of it making different crews fight over 1 thing. Reminds me of when they added fotd.

I sold an 8 ritual on my first go with a friend. It was long and full of PvP, and insanely fun. I also got the "set 50 on fire" commendation on my second run, so I've already got some nice skeleton cosmetics to whet my palate! Can't wait to hop back in!

I just realized something. If the Burning Blade is immune to fire damage, could you theoretically mitigate the need to bail by putting a bunch of Chests of Rage below deck without any downsides? I might be wrong, it’s been awhile since I’ve looked into how Chests of Rage work, but it seems like a possible way to make water management easier on such a big ship.

A small feature they added, that I haven’t seen many people talking about. Is making your ship unable to just walk off of, they raised the edges of the ships near the ladders & harpoons, making it much easier to maneuver the grog chest, and making accidental swims less occasional 😂🎉

I wish a player crewed burning blade was actually contestable. I was on a server where 4 boats (1Gal, 3 sloops including me) were fighting the blade at once and it didn't even look like it was struggling. That thing is an absolute juggernaut so its really frustrating when you don't get to become the new captain, and you now have a bunch of other people to argue with over sharing the loot because there is no way in hell you are sinking this thing with just your crew unless its a full galleon crew.

We sunk the person who had the burning blade and then we took the new burning blade and we still had the old burning blade on us. So we used it as ship defense sword quite effective. I recommend this. We finished seven rituals before a galleon came and figured out the weakness for the burning blade and exploded it to full advantage. We did manage to get away from them and cash in for a little over 600k

even without server performance I feel like having it around when say...fort of fortune is active. The fort of fortune crew is at a beyond massive disadvantage unless they see them coming. You are already at a disadvantage if you don;t see a ship coming but you can still come back., Not sure you would have that come back chance witht he blade rocking up on you? I have yet to play it so I can't say FOR sure but it just..feels fromt he sound sof it to be to strong in THAT SPECIFIC instance/example

Been looking forward to this season ever since it got announced all those months ago, and it seems like it didn't disappoint! I do hope they make the Burning Blade ship separate from world events in the future, it's an amazing gameplay piece that shouldn't be locked behind chance. EDIT: I'm also absolutely thrilled they're beginning to put Hourglass rewards at lower levels than 100. Hourglass is currently a complete mess for new to average players because to takes 100 levels of blood sweat and tears to get even the most basic of rewards. Putting the knives at 50 is hopefully the first step to spreading the rewards out better so people like myself are more willing to put in the time to play the mode. It's not the best change (i still think the system needs XP rewards for doing well in fights rather than just win/lose) but it's definitely step in the right direction. I hope the recent successes Rare has had will push Xbox to give them more resources in the server department, I don't think I'm alone when I say Sea of Thieves is Xbox's flag*ship* title the past few years.

@ 4:45 The reason is that you are SUPPOSED to do the Camps. from what was tested in Insider, no one was doing the camps when they held control of the Blade. they treated as their ship and did not care for the camps, or didn't do the camps much only to redo their spawns. Also, the Quest log is locked out because Running has its benefit when going to the Shores now.

The burning blade is already op. Just imagine how hard it would be to do other events when a crew has control of that thing, they probably wouldn't be able to be done with it attacking you while your trying to do an event . so the that being the only event might be a good thing

I see there's a lot of work they put into the last few seasons, but sadly rare missed the mark on system integration again. It feels like yet another disjointed feature island that will slowly die on it's own once the players have had enough of it (i my self had my fill of this mode after pretty much one loop of the Camps, maybe before that) ● Once you're manning the burning blade the only thing you're locked into doing is skelly Camps. The variety here is lacking, like during my session even the constellations that i had to draw were always the same 4, bat, fox, spider and cougar ●Servers with an active burning blade see no activity for hours until a good enough crew sinks it or the occupants get bored. ●Commendations locked behind owning the skeleton curse which is a completely separate reputation system with no overlap whatsoever I reckon that we'll need some QoL updates or a whole season geared into providing missing features and fixing big and old bugs. ● Cosmetic presets to choose from are not a thing yet, that would be a fantastic feature. ● Maybe now that the burning blade is a thing, you could introduce dynamic crew resizing, without having stop a session in it's tracks. ● Merchants constantly scamming you out of your crates is still a thing. ● Guardians and Servants rep need more progression streams because grinding out hourglass is boring, it needs something more immediate (even if less rewarding). Also maybe stop locking huge grind after huge grind, would you?

This update looks fire, probably gonna download this game again and try it out. I really REALLY want more enemy variety tho, fighting the same skeletons and 2 ocean crawlers is kinda boring after a while, The giant fire skeletons where cool, and raid bosses are neat. but I want more normal enemy types. more skeletons with different move sets instead of "this one is weak to water" or "this one doesnt like light" how about a giant skeleton that has more HP and new attacks? or giant crab enemies (not the ocean crawler one) that will walk out of the water and attack from the beach. Idk, this game I guess is more PVP based which I love but still, im a single player type of guy and PvE is kinda my thing... But still, this update looks fantastic and I am most likely gonna try it out for sure.

Man...when hourglass came out I started grinding Guardians...I quit it at level 60 when the issues there came to be. I've done nothing since then...seems like I'll have to get back to it...finish it and start grinding Servants for these killer skelly cosmetics

My only issues so far is that the Burnung Blade music never stops playing, which you tune out eventually, but it still gets a bit annoying The other one is that the obsidian ashen wind skulls run out of charge with no way to recharge it, making the associated skekly commendation even more difficult I think half of its charge should be filled by half when a camp is done, considering its just another skull once its done.

best update in a long time, caters to all players, allows the sloop bots to still enjoy content and get hand held to play and allows good full crews to dominate servers again as they should, diving means the bots will filter out and pvp chads will come for the challenge

The big problem is honestly that the burning blade is too powerful. Even the swabbiest of galleon crews can wipe a server because its basically an indestructible fortress. Oh and also its near impossible to sink a player controlled one as a sloop.
