Great video!!! Delta and her husband Pat were very important to Elvis. Long before fame and money when times were hard for the Presleys, Delta and Pat always made sure Elvis received a special and significant gift for Christmas. Elvis never forgot their kindness and interest in his well being. Elvis loved Pat deeply. When success did come for Elvis, he tried to help Pat start up a business, which ultimately failed. Elvis was hurt greatly by Pat's sudden and unexpected death and immediately told Delta on the phone she was going to move into Graceland and always be with him. Marty Lacker led the crew who picked up Delta and Pat's car in Alabama and brought both back to Graceland. At one point, Minnie Mae, Vernon, Delta, and Nash all lived in or adjacent to Graceland and Vester worked at the gate and lived nearby. Elvis always lived up to his childhood dreams of caring for his family. Keep up the great work!!!

I had the pleasure of being yelled at by Aunt Delta when I toured Graceland in 1982. As I was waiting to enter the front door of Graceland with the tour group. I accidentally leaned against the doorbell which caused Edmond (the dog) to bark. She came out of the kitchen and yelled at me to quit ringing the doorbell because it was making her dog bark! A little late in the tour (We were the first tour group that day), we caught her sitting at the counter in the kitchen. The kitchen was not part of the tour then but the curtains weren’t pulled over yet so we got to see the kitchen. When we walked by the kitchen, Delta jumped up and gave us all a dirty look and then quickly pulled the curtain to hide the kitchen.

I went when Graceland was first opened but don't remember seeing Aunt Delta. One thing to keep in mind was that most people didn't know she lived there. Now we have Internet and all this info. I had a friend that told me Graceland was open for visits after she had toured. I can imagine it being strange to want to sleep late and knowing you have people touring the rest of your home. I'm glad Aunt Delta stood firm and didn't leave. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Wow, wow, wow! Amazing video Ashley! I loved learning more about Aunt Delta!! I didn't know she over saw the housekeeper and did the grocery shopping. Very cool to know, then I love that she set the dinning table and put fresh flowers on it for the fans. Keeping those chandlers sparkly, etc...She looks like she would have been a brisk person, saying whatever was on her mind. With having no children to "soften" her and her nip of the booze I'm sure gave her a sharp tongue. But I love that she would apologize and with the apologies came the little gifts. Very interesting video Ashley!! Aunt Delta certainly did live there a long time and I understand how she was feeling when they opened it to the public. That would be a hard one! then having to stay out of sight on top of it, another hard one. My favorite part is how Elvis didn't even think twice once his aunt called in a panic. He simply sent the guys to go get her and her belongings and moved her in! That is Elvis, very few family members would do that, especially today where everyone just wants to live their own lives and not really care about the aging family members. Again, amazing video Ashley!!!

People who have a STRONG PERSONALITY, like Aunt Delta. You let them "vent" and YOU, "smile". Once they get it out of there system AND GET TO KNOW A PERSON, they ARE so ENDURING, and they are "REMEMBERED" in a good light. I've met many with that personality. I was the only one who got along with those difficult personalities and everyone was still "bad" mouthing out loud, condemning them :( I ALWAYS had Elvis' WORDS running through my head, when people like THEM, did those things to a "sweet" personality. Before You ABUSE, CRITICIZE and ACCUSE. . .Walk A Mile In MY SHOES :) AND Elvis' WORDS from CHANGE OF HABIT: If "YOU" Have The HABIT; of PUTTING PEOPLE DOWN. . .or Just Because they are from THE WRONG SIDE OF TOWN. . .CHANGE "YOUR" HABIT(S) ! ! ! I spent my Middle/High School Years sending out Post Cards to the Local Radio Station for their 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. REQUEST LINE where the DJ's would READ my request for _______ to _________. There was SOOO MUCH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE towards all the girls. Request for: girl's first name. . .to BOY'S first name; who was PHYSICALLY HURTING the girl(s). The Teachers LISTENED and KNEW who I was Dedicating the ELVIS songs to AND THE BOY'S MOTHERS WERE LISTENING, ALSO :) :) Then I requested a GREAT VERSION of Elvis' U.S. M A L E, son, that's ME! Elvis spoke the words/lyrics with CONVICTION, POWER. . .those boys NEVER went near those girls ever, again. Their "MOTHER'S" took care of that! ! ! Elvis taught "us" Fans so much through his words in his songs. . .How to TREAT ONE ANOTHER. . .His OPENING words to Walk A Mile In My Shoes. . .the lyrics on-line under Hank Williams SR. or under Luke The Drifter: MEN WITH BROKEN HEARTS. . .hits me in the "gut" every time. . . .

Wonderful story on Aunt Delta. I was lucky to be taken to graceland while in Memphis shortly after it opened in 82 by a friend who lived in memphis. Aunt Delta was walking the grounds and just glaring at us while we were in the backyard of Graceland at that time they had some of Elvis' cars there. I was 16 and felt very shy and awkward because even though i loved Elvis it just felt wrong to be going through his home after his passing very intrusive. At one point i was going to take a picture of one of the cars the pink cadillac Elvis bought for his mother and then immediately i put the camera away because i just could not get myself to take the picture i felt as if i was intruding on Elvis' home that he bought for his mother and his private belongings. I immediately felt a sadness i did not think would come across me there. As i looked away there was who i now know as Aunt Delta holding a dog in her hand staring in my direction the same lady that was glaring at all of us beforehand she looked in my direction from a distance and It seemed as though she had a very hard time with people going through graceland and the grounds. Because she was just staring at all the people outside that day without a smile. RIP Aunt Delta❤

G'day, A great video covering the life of Aunt Delta. Q. A question about Elvis. I've heard mentioned that Elvis often donated many of he's stage jumpsuits over the years. Have any of these ever turned up. So thanks for sharing another great video ✌️

I finally had a chance to check this out. Awesome!! I was very lucky to see Aunt Delta when she lived at Graceland. It was my first trip to Memphis in 1987 and when our tour group got to the carport Delta was walking her dog by the shrubs. I was even able to get a photo of her--being careful she didn't see me. I didn't want to anger her. She probably would've kicked my backside!! :)

Very good Miss Ashley, before Elvis moved to Graceland,he lived on Audobon in Memphis.its' a long story but for my one fingers sake, i'll cut it back.Someone at her work lied and said they went to EPs house.she and three friends went for real.E was in hollywood, but my mom,by herself, was brave enough to knock and met Mr. nd Mrs. Presley.

You are probably tired of hearing it...... but excellent and informative piece as always. I thank you for that. I was a teenager in the summer of 1982 and my family visited graceland. I do remember just entering the Jungle room/den coming in from the living room area. I remember being about half way into the Jungle room/Den just looking at things and then all of a sudden a dog starting barking like crazy about 10 feet behind me and there was Aunt Delta, although I did not know who she was at the time. She just sort of laughed and apologized for the dog and said a few words which I do not recall, then went about her business as older ladies do. Kind of reminded me of my grandmothers. I thought it was so strange because I was not aware anyone was living in the house and was surprised to see someone just casually moving about, with an animal no less. There was no explanation from any tour guides about her that I remember. From what i recall she kind of came out of no where, possibly from the step area leading down from the deck or where ever the stairs go that are located on the south end of the Den. She was very 'comfortably' dressed and was not rude or unwelcoming from what I remember and she moved sort of slow like an older person would. I remember the stairs as being dated with a dark wood paneling type of material. We were very limited as to what we could see in 1982 compared to what I hear and see in videos today. My mom still has the pictures from the visit in her photo albums. I also saw Elvis in concert at the youthful age of 10 on March 22, 1976 in St Louis. At the end of the show you could hardly hear him or see him the crowd was so wild. Mom has those pictures as well. Saw Uncle Vester in 1975 or so in front of Graceland guarding the gates. He had the thickest slicked back hair. Have pictures of that as well. Ashley, thanks again for your efforts and the successful presentation of your videos.

Back in the 1970's when I read Elvis used Aqua Velva, [TV Commercial was "fun" :) :) ] I went out and bought ONE bottle for my Blue Jean purse (Nostalgia) and one for my Gym Locker, after showers in Middle / High School. Everyone liked the Aqua Velva, mild scent [there was NO perfume sold in stores/Drug Stores, just STINKY Avon sold door to door] :( I passed my bottle around. . .girls came to me in the Middle School Office, where I worked part time, to get my Purse Aqua Velva, got caught by the School Nurse :) :) :) After the student came out from the closet and handed me back my bottle of Aqua Velva, the Nurse smelled it and LIKED the mild fragrance. The School Nurse COMPLAINED about a female Teacher that bought STINKY Avon perfumes. . .where ever THAT Teacher walked through the school, you COULD STILL SMELL "THAT" perfume for over "3" hours :( :( When that Teacher walked into the tiny Teacher's Lounge, all the Teachers got UP and LEFT because of the "stinky", Avon. . . "m e m o r i e s" :) P.S. I haven't stopped using Aqua Velva :) :)

Ashley? You could share here, the ?couple? of times after I think? ? Vernon had passed and Aunt Delta, Minnie Mae and Nancy Rooks HEARD someone breaking IN, I believe Aunt Delta got HER GUN, someone called Security, the person was arrested. The other times, Nancy Rooks didn't tell the ending, IF, someone TRIED to break in? ? I'm "sure" Aunt Delta made sure all those doors were Locked, before dark, every night. GREAT Job :) :)
