the ham and banana part was so funny i’m sorry 😭 reminded me of the recipes dylan hollis makes. the oysters one sounds delicious but with anchovies instead maybe? also just pear and cheese go so well together without adding too many things, but some of these were truly, um, interesting. haha. as always you made my day ashley 🫶

Frog eye salad was one of my faves as a kid! Maybe it's a Minnesotan thing, but that's not a dessert: it's a salad you eat with the meal. It's made with Acini de Pepe pasta. My mom always made it for family graduation and bbq parties. We have SO many "salads" that are jello/mayo/marshmallow/fruit/cottage cheese/cool whip based in my family (I think it's a Midwest/MN thing).
@kristimallen29 күн бұрын
My mom used to make this when we went to my grandparents house in MN and she called it Pepe Salad. She used colored marshmallows in it.

I agree 10,000% with you on everything you described and or made to try. I do make my own homemade stuffing with bread, broth, seasonings, herbs, onions, and celery. Then I take a quarter out for my dad and add chopped, very minced oysters to his. I've tried it, not bad but, I'll make and eat my original one all day everyday if I never have to eat my dad's again!!!! Lol Hope you and your wife and all your furry cute little babies had a wonderful Thanksgiving 🦃🦃

@mz.exoticthetattedupchefАй бұрын
If you don’t mind, please share your recipe. I’ve never had green bean casserole. Very opened to trying it.
@NickBrunetАй бұрын
@ of course I will share! ☺️ so I take fresh green beans and I actually just microwave them for a few minutes to steam them and get them started and set them aside. In a sauté pan I sauté mushrooms (I typically use a mix of baby Bella and oyster mushrooms) and sliced shallots in butter and olive oil with salt and black pepper. When they are golden brown I add garlic for a few minutes. And then I add in cream of mushroom soup, heavy cream, a ton more black pepper, a bit of cayenne, oregano and paprika. I let that simmer for a bit and then I put all of that mushroom mixture over the green beans (in a buttered baking dish) mix it up and, yes, I top it with a ton of those good ole’ French’s fried onions. Bake at 415° for about 20-30 minutes and you are good to go! It may sound simple or basic but the addition to fresh mushrooms, shallots and the slight spice from the cayenne and black pepper plus the smokiness of the paprika make a difference for sure!! Enjoy and if you make it let me know what you think!! 🤓🙃🙂

Acini di pepe! But as an Italian-American, I've never heard of it in a dessert! I *have* had a delicious dessert with noodles, though - Sweet Noodle Kugel. AllRecipes has it. I grew up in a neighborhood that was half Italians, half Jewish. Kugel was on the menus, and I loved it! There's also a potato kugel variety that's savory. Also good. My husband used to talk about pawpaws. He was a Southern boy. I've never had them! What's your culinary heritage? I loveeeeee oyster dressing. SO good. OMG CREAMED ONIONS. I haven't had those in 30 years or more, but my mother used to make them. I think they're more just from the 70s than from an area. Now I want them. I WANT THEM NOW. Make that banana thing go away now please. LMAO "your daddy won't know the difference."
