Interesting. I always thought he was actually referring to his sister and not his sis-tah. I do think Billy Idol was imagining something a little deeper and darker than he admits here. There seem to be some incestuous overtones the way he's talking down to her now and her new "little husband." Like, you know I've been gone, but you also know we've shared a lot of beds together growing up and that you really "want" me. I'm the one you dream of and the delusion of a perfect marriage will end again. I also image this isn't her first time at the alter, which accounts for some of his cynicism. But she's rather as disturbed as he is. None of this is to say he actually thought this about his own sister, just that he let the perversions in his mind out for a little walk when writing the lyrics. And nobody say I'm projecting!

The reference to "White Wedding" is simply the bride in a white gown. The more interesting thing is the "Shot Gun" reference is to a "Shot Gun" wedding. In other words they have to get married and "start again", a new life. Back in my day it was because of her being pregnant the wedding has to be faster than planned.

It wasn't just that she was pregnant. Usually father showed up with the shotgun and made the guy marry his daughter - or die - hence, shotgun wedding. Also, white was supposed to represent that she is still a virgin on her wedding. A widow, for example, should not wear white if she remarried - at least in the old days. Now, most people don't give a s@#t. No one expects the woman to be a virgin at her wedding - even though, I have heard some do exist - lmao.

My granny had a shotgun wedding. Her suitor took her on a buggy ride and they were gone too long. She said when they got back her daddy was on the porch with a shotgun in his lap and a preacher by his side. She was 13. They stayed married until he died of old age, then she got remarried at the age of 80. ✌️

Billy Idol had a bucket load of charisma and was some performer and still is with his latest song Bitter Taste. For a real Billy Classic apart from Rebel Yell which i know both of you have viewed have a look at To be a lover, racy as heck and full of energy and vibe...one of the back up singers in the group is the same girl from the Aha "take on me" single. He beats David Bowie for the most solo number one albums by a British artist and ties with Madonna for second-most solo chart toppers ever. He is only beaten by Elvis. Please give him a listen.
