Fiona Apple is one of the most prolific poets of our generation. As a professional musician, I don’t say that lightly. Her pen game is next level. She was only 17 when she recorded this song. She came out of the gate a prodigy.

Thanks for doing this, guys! I can tell Asia didn’t know what to make of it! She wrote the song in 45 minutes when she was still a teenager. I met her when I was a radio announcer in SC. She is super sweet and very talented. She regrets the video because she thinks too much attention was paid to it and not the song itself. She was very young at the time, and now she’s in her mid 40’s. ❤

Yes! Thank you for requesting Fiona. She's been in some polls but always runner up. Her music is amazing and she was definitely a prodigy. Everyone was so focused on her eating habits, physical and sexual health because of the video and her age... they completely missed the mark of her talent and were so quick to judge all the "social red flags". She rose to fame extremely quickly at a young age and got eaten alive by the judging public that it caused her to be somewhat of a recluse.
@Julieroo28 Жыл бұрын
@@scapito Ikr? Everyone who is familiar with and likes Fiona is always rooting for her and wanting her to be happy. @brandy0121736 ай бұрын
Wide awake is a scary place. Funny, the new word that some people use for name-calling on a group by another group as if it is to be an insult… “‘woke democrats”. The people who say it don’t even realize that it means ‘awakened’, ‘acutely and newly aware’. ‘crystal clear’. Wake up (if you can withstand it). If I had to choose from one type of “disturbed” over another, I’d choose to go down twitching because the stark truth is too heavy, as opposed to being “disturbed” as in smiling and chanting cluelessly thinking it’s a fun and right thing to do marching with a parade of ‘friends’ carrying machine guns, noises, and baseball bats to break in to the nations capital to murder congress and end democracy. THAT is supposedly much healthier than “woke”. I’d rather be insane because I know the difference between right and wrong and traumatized by what is truly happening then an insane person that can’t exist without following a cult leader. Doesn’t anybody remember the term “Drinking the koolaid” because some guy somehow managed to convince like hundreds of people who used to be normal people that it was a good idea to all commit suicide at the same time including killing their children in California back in the ‘70s??? WTF happened?? HUNDREDS of dead bodies were found on a property. They all drink koolaid laced with some lethal chemical at the same time and it was a unanimous plan. THAT IS WHERE WE ARE. If they say Fiona apple was disturbed, so am I.

Maybe it's just me, but the ending soundscape of this song always gave me Beatle vibes like something from their "Magical Mystery Tour" album. Some other cool female singers you should check out are Devil Doll "Walk With Me", "Why", "Gypsy Bitch", "Sweet Lorraine", and "To All Our Friends". Lavay Smith And Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers "What's The Matter With You"-that's some cool boogie woogie. Amy Lavere "Cupid's Arrow", "Big Sister", and "Take 'em Or Leave 'em". That song is featured in the movie "The Heartbreak Kid" with Ben Stiller and its very funny. Would be a good Reelin' With Asia & Bj" reaction.

She was EIGHTEEN when she wrote that. An Old Soul who lived, loved, and betrayed hard. Actually, she was the one who was betrayed. This was written because she had turned in the entire album that she had made, and the producer said, well, we need something that catchy, more upbeat, so she wrote this during a lunch break, and you can research that, and it's a fact. Listen to her song, "Limp.".If you want to hear her rip down the man who hurt her in the first place. If that man got away with his integrity intact and his identity unknown, I do not know how. But as harsh as she appears to be on herself here, she let it rip on him. And something tells me he deserved it. And every time I listen to this album from nineteen ninety-eight, I keep thinking of eighteen, HOW was she only EIGHTEEN? SHE WON A SLEW OF GRAMMYS AND THEN VANISHED FOR A WHILE, AND NOW SHE SINGS WHEN SHE WANTS TO. AND I SAY GOOD FOR HER.
