I've read something about the Asian financial crisis being caused by the IMF pressuring Asian countires to liberalize specualtive capital. Is this true?
@zuzuzuko39473 жыл бұрын
Most of it ia already liberalize, so it's wrong

negative current account means more money is going out or owed, not the other way around.
@tonysoviet3692 Жыл бұрын
In this video it means that negative current account indicating foreign investors are pouring in with foreign direct investments, and positive current account means investors are pulling out. Like what you said but it's the other side of the coin.

i dont see the riot and killed people is the worst i think IMF is the worst, and it also show how stupid the government at that time, to take an easy short-term solution to solve their problem because IMF killed some of our part that actually growing and threatening the western competitor yes, one of it was our aviation industry

it seems like i lost it here. Please somebody explain to me how the current Account deficit of 24 billion indicates the 24 billion of capital flowing in the country? We read it here as mainly the difference between import and export.
@ozgoldebronokia8210 Жыл бұрын
You may confuse it with current trade balance, which is the actual gap between exports and imports. Current account deficit means more capital outflow than inflow.
@bobbinsthethird8 ай бұрын
Basically think of trade as being ships crossing the oceans exchanging goods between countries. When there is a Deficit, that means that other places accepted pieces of paper in lieu of goods, and are holding onto that money. And when there is a Surplus like with China, their central banks suddenly have a lot more access to US denominated currency than the US does Chinese denominated currency. In this case the differential would be 24 billions worth
@sylvio16872 жыл бұрын
why current account surplus indicates that capital is leaving the country and current account deficit means capital is flowing into the country? shouldn't it be the opposite?
@Sorararawr2 жыл бұрын
i think what he means is that when a country has current account deficit, it borrows capital for its internal country investments, aka external borrowed capital flowing into the country.

Corona crushed local economies, while corporations were seeing record profits. An economic crisis like the Asian one crushes every business regardless of how big it is. Its not even a fair comparison

terrible video, speaker is speaking too fast, no visual representation of the words said aka good luck remembering anything; plus there was much about the crisis itself and the effects of it, but non to zero info on how and why did the crisis happen. TERRIBLE VIDEO
