Why do you want manufacturing jobs to comeback to the US? Even if those jobs do comeback they will be replaced by robots.

Erik 567 So to be fair other countries should try to cut their purchases of USA goods and services and “bring back jobs”. For example, consumption of USA movies and music, consumption of NFL transmissions by Mexican citizens, use of Google and iPhones, of Microsoft products or of heavily subsidized agricultural goods.

US and the West can bring back their manufacturing but definitely the cost is way high and non competitive.

Billy Yap , I would settle for dispersed overseas manufacturing across countries that have some stability, and at least basic democratic institutions. If we can’t bring all the manufacturing home, at least transfer it to more open countries.

this is going to be a messy divorce if we arnt careful. decoupling and shoring up manufacturing, acquiring materials to make products.

More middle and high end manufacturing are going to China due to supply chain and vast market in China. The low end manufacturing will go to third world. China make products is cheaper is mainly due to the supply chain factor.
