Currently at 460 miles on mine. Did my first 100 mile week in the superblast alone. I have a new pair sitting on the shelf. But the current pair still feels so damn good there is no desire to start grabbing the other pair new in the box. I honestly believe this shoe is one of the longest lasting shoes on the market. And to add to this comment I'm definitely not a runner who likes to take shoes to x amount of miles just because. When a shoe starts showing its ass it gets retired. These...I've got at least 600 miles to hit before I submit the retirement paperwork. And after that they will still get some part time work in. Will see soon.

All hail SuperBlast. These shoes are a gift from heaven. I broke my ankle 21 years ago; it shattered into three pieces due to a soccer injury. Some parts were fixed, while others were not addressed at all. Carbon-plated shoes have caused pain in my right ankle due to the fact they are unstable. I cannot exceed a certain speed due to the unreliability of the shoes on my feet. However, the SuperBlast has significantly boosted my confidence at all paces, it's an extremely stable shoe, it is fast, It is also the most consistent shoe I have ever worn, helping me maintain my pace for a long time. The shoes felt softer after 60 miles or so. I can't praise it enough.

Most comprehensive accurate review of this shoe I’ve seen. 100% accurate. I think also most reviewers just talk 90% about the midsole, but for me, I think the wide forefoot and comfy upper is a huge plus why the shoe is so popular that most reviewers hardly touch on. Also concur with the outsole, I’m just starting on my third pair and the first 2 lasted 200-300 miles before the outsoles got worn down enough to start to eat away the midsole and the shoes had to be dumped. At around 100 miles, outsoles looked almost exactly like yours too. I wish the outsole material was more durable, my only gripe. My fav shoes of all time otherwise.

Just finished my first 100km on this shoe, and contrary to most of the shoes I own, I find myself liking the Superblast more and more. Basically no signs of wear or tear, no matter where you look. The other thing I love about it is the uncanny ability to get more comfortable as you pile up more kilometers on your run. I usually feel them a little stiff during the first 2-3 km, then around 5km begin to feel like an actual part of your foot. Very easy to finish 10K, 15k, and at great speed too. 8 our of my 10 PR have been achieved with the SuperB's, the other two are in possession of my (still) super favorite Adidas Boston 12. However, the MOST important reason for me to love them is that no matter how hard or long I push them, my ankles and calves never feel discomfort or pain, and by always problematic foot plants (even tried custom made inserts to no avail) suffer almost no pain. Only 2 minor dislikes: the hollow "slappy" sound they make when running, and the need to be VERY careful when securing your feet with the laces. Hands down my favorite shoe in 2023! Thanks for the always informative review!

New to running, training for London and absolutely love this shoe. At around 480km and it is my go to shoe for long, steady and easy runs. I've just bought the Saucony triumph 21 for easy runs and I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as the Superblast! I agree that the outsole needs improving but the upper, midsole and especially the value score seem a touch harsh. The midsole is incredible and it can handle my marathon pace (4:15kms) comfortably. For what this shoe can do at so many paces, the value is unmatched. Good review and whilst the score is still good the Tekumi Sen review seems a little high (appreciate they are very different shoes).

Love this shoe, in 12 years of running, i can’t think of another shoe I’ve enjoyed so much. Has been perfect for long training runs around 5min/km whilst training for a 50km Ultra. Did 400km in no time and it still feels as good as ever. Can also pick up the pace. Being in Australia, I’ve not run in the wet yet, but have found the upper impossible to clean after using it for some light trail runs. That's what I heard about limited production back then a lawsuit happened in my country. Asics has only a few authorized shops where I live and whenever Superblast drops almost every size is sold out in a matter of minutes. This is happened many times with many colourways and last October lawsuit has been filed against these shops. Apparently, they've been buying the shoes with their own accounts and selling them in the black market via various 3rd party websites with inflated prices. I don't know how many authorized shops Asics have in the UK but the situation might not be the issue of short supply. As far as I know, we will see the first colourway of Superblast 2 in July and other ones in September.

Hey Edd, I think this was a spot on review of the shoe. I am typically a stability shoe wear, but picked up a pair of these and ran my first ever marathon in them yesterday. I am glad I did because they were much lighter than my Kayano 30s and we’re certainly stable enough for me to run that distance without pain or discomfort. It rained heavily from my last 8 miles and although my outsoul was starting to wear like yours at 137 miles,, it did just fine with traction for me.

It's a simple case of supply and demand. For Asics this shoe has been a financial windfall. Is it worth the retail price? Yes, because it is selling out at that price. In fact, if I were Asics I'd be inclined to jack it up another $20 for version 2 and see if there is still enough demand out there. Given the amount of positive comments regarding the shoe, I'd say it would still sell. Having said all that, I'd never pay full price for this shoe. I am not that rich!

Like mine enough to have near 200 miles on it. Does feel a bit slappy at times and even though it’s light it does run heavy or big? Dunno a weird feeling I can’t explain , never thought of the wide surface area as the cause but bet that’s a contributing factor.

Not going to go against the grain here, I’m also loving mine. I think they’re probably the most complete running shoe I’ve owned. I did have to go half a size down and I still think they’re roomy. What would I change? The cutouts on the outsole are as bad as the central gravel attractor on the GlideRide 3s, and I would love to see what they’re like with a more aggressive rocker.

I’m sure they can sort the cutout issues

2.6 is quite generous for the outsole. It's slippery, not very durable, and the rock holes are super annoying. Possibly one of the worst outsoles! I really like the midsole, but don't think it's worth the price. In your example of saving money vs a rotation, the rotation will last more km. Per km, it's not good value, imo. I really hope the leaked Puma Magmax will be a Superblast with Puma Grip and lower price!

It’s fine on road and pavement. Just always bring a screwdriver with you.
@bbnd54768 ай бұрын
@EDDBUD I find it very slippery on wet cobbles too. Until Pumagrip I always assumed it's just part of running. Now, grip has become a big part of how I pick my shoes. With a grippy shoe you can push on your intervals in any weather. Some AHAR+ shoes like Glideride 3 have great grip, so Asics has an easy fix to make the Superblast a 10/10 shoe.

Any shoe that slides on wet concrete after just 100 miles would be an absolute deal-breaker or me, and I'm confused why people don't feel the same way about the poor outsoles on many of these modern shoes.

Wore my pair (bought with a 15% discount because no chance I’m paying £195) for the first time this weekend during a threshold & hills session. I feel like I didn’t do them justice - I was knackered, ran poorly, HR High, all over the gaff. What I will say is, the SB kept me going during the threshold stuff. I literally got dragged round it by the pop. Again, I was running poorly, but I don’t think I’d use it for hill sprints again. Not sure it’s made for that sort of stuff, but I’ll remember that! Oh, and yeah, the outsole was pretty shite 😂

It’s the main downside of the shoe. But in fairness the rest is top

Ed doesn't lead us astray often but he might have with this one. this is the best running shoe in many years. if you liked the prime x strung then you're also going to love this shoe. the superblast might be the best shoe in the last five years. 800km of high end performance is unmatched. if you have bought this shoes yet buy it any price! these shoe tubers are just repeating what their pears are saying over and over. the mid sole works better than zoomx and the shoes it much lighter and stronger than anything nike offers. BUY THE SUPERBLAST

At what point did I say it’s not a good shoe? I gave it a 90% score?
@stevecolders8 ай бұрын
I describe these shoes as "functional". I don't find them particularly fun to run in and don't get any excitement from the ride. But, for long runs, particularly those with the odd effort in them, they just do the job without fuss. You also feel a whole lot fresher the next day, way more so than any other pair of shoes. If you're doing a lot of long runs, a marathon block being the obvious thing, they're worth owning, but I'm not sure you need them if your focus is shorter work.

Super forgiving on foot. Hard to beat for that aspect.

Hey Edd, thanks for the review,. Do you consider this shoe nice for a 85 kg (185 pounds) guy with a projected marathon time of 3H20 over Boston 12 ? I have nimbus but they are a little bit too slow for that pace. THank you.
@EDDBUD7 ай бұрын
This is massively lighter than the nimbus and very much a long range shoe. It’s huge in stack but stable and very light

I have pretty narrow feet so ASICS are the best brand by far for my feet. I've tried every ASICS shoe under the sun and Novablast 2 & 3 used to be my favs. These top even those. Finish long runs with more energy in the legs so for me at least, yes they are worth it. I kept thinking it over for 6 months as they are pricey, finally pulled the trigger 2 months ago. Zero regrets!
@EDDBUD8 ай бұрын
They are something all their own. It’s the max cushion without the huge weight. For example. These are 280g vs 350g for the invincible run

@@BGNewsReporter I have Novablast 4 wide, and they are one of my favorites, but with so many raving about the superblast, I can’t help but wonder how much better these are! I guess I’ll buy and find out

I do 40 to 50 miles a month of Treadmill, street and walks with Boss/Wife. Maybe 1 to 3 5k’s per year with dreams of a 1/2 someday. Would the Superblast’s be overkill for me? Already have Nimbus 25’s which are great but at times I wish they were a bit snappier.

Guys please don't cry about the cutouts catching rocks. Yeah it sucks, but you all praise the shoe for being light, well guess what's one of the reasons that it manages that... I prefer a lighter shoe that catches some rocks now and then (if you don't trail run it you shouldn't be catching many rocks anyway)

How do you compare the rocker geometry to something like the Novablast 3? I have the Nova 3s and while they are pretty good, they have almost zero rocker and I tend to slap the ground with my forefoot. I am looking to buy the superblast, but I am little concerned about that.
@EDDBUD8 ай бұрын
It’s a bit more rigid than the novablast 3. But more controlled in the rocker
