me: didn'T got that line also me - tryin' to teach one of my not-a-cat-person-friend: "when a cat comes to you - you may gonna pet it - if s/he allows you to; when a cat lays down - that's not 'pet me on my belly' but rather only a 'yea, I may not have to fear harm around you'" just cause a cat exposes its belly doesn'T mean it's askin you to rub it - it's a sign of, at first, showing s/he feels at least somewhat safe around you - and maybe after you get along with eachother, a sign of trust - and I know for sure from DECADES of experience with DOZENS of cats maybe it's a stray just try to get some attention - maybe it's one of your relatives pets - a cat only gets down if it knows that no harm can come to it and/or if s/he feels save around you - and only after long time of bonding it's a sign of s/he's trusting you to safeguard it - as long as a cat hasn't accepted you as trustworthy most (about 99 out of 100) will keep protecting their belly by either stay to attention full alert - or, if s/he feels somewhat comfortable around you, laying down onto the belly - it takes A LOT of time and trust a cat starts to accept you as that stupid human being eager to rub that belly ... and dare you if you think any bad of the cat if s/he starts to see your hand as prey and natural reflex kicks in with scratching and biting - it's a reflex gosh dang it - your cat is a predator after all - a sneaky silent killer - and if YOU make the mistake to expose your hand within reach - it's game over - your hand is now prey and belongs to your cat in fact: as I grew up with cats around me - I know this very instinctive behaviour - and to some extend I actually DO enjoy it - but no cause I'm sadistic to myself but rather I enjoy that the cat plays with me rather than some toys - although I know in this very moment the cat only sees my hand as the prey it has to kill - I also know in the next moment I'm "the servant worthy to be taken as 'non-hostile' within the cats surroundings" like someone wise said: "many see dogs as mankinds best friends - but cats are so as well - you sure have to work for them - but in return they love you as unconditionally"

I just feed my cat a little bit at a time. He is an outdoor cat, so that way he will always stay close by. So basicly he eats the whole day , but a small portion at a time. This really worked ( for me). All i have to do is whistle at the frontdoor and he comes running. Its a dog in a cats body. He knows when he comes when i whistle, he gets some food. Works like a charm

Smaller meals might also help. Instead of one can of food in the morning, split up the servings. Mine get fed several times a day. Same amount of food, just distributed throughout the day. Nobody likes having to gorge themselves once a day then being hungry until the next day.

I always thought of myself more as a dog person until I ended up with a cat. I say ended up with and not adopted because he just kinda showed up outside of our apartment meowing for food and craving attention. Based on his age when we found him, we're pretty sure he was a Christmas gift that got too aggressive and bitey (because oh boy, he was so aggressive when we first took him in) and got abandoned. He's an absolute menace in my apartment and ruins all of my stuff, but I love cuddling with him and how he has to greet me when I first wake up and has me pet him while I pee (it's my morning ritual now). I love how low-key he is and that he doesn't need my constant attention like a dog.

Some people enjoy the attention dogs give them while cats tend to ignore you and do what they want. While cat people dont enjoy the tackling and licking to deathness😂 some dog people dont like this either but it can be trained out. Also people enjoy the protection a dog can provide. If your cat has a similar problem of eating food too quickly, I would recommend trying a food bowl that has a bump in the middle and distributes the food In an O shape. It helps them take their time eating and I use it with my 2 and 6 year olds

To overcome cat allergies, my grandkids grow up with cats. They are very affectionate as much they are independent - most cats love human company & ours always hang around us. They seem comforted by our presence, our voices even if we're working on the laptops/PCs. Good video!!!

Not especially. Maybe sphinx but they also groom themselves, so that doesn't solve the issue. I think it is different for each individual but for me, long hair is fine. Both my cats are from shelters. In my opinion, cats that go outside are the worst for my sinuses. When one scratches me it takes longer to heal. I have to wash my hands frequently. I avoid carpets or curtain or any fabric that stick to fur. I don't let them enter my room, so they can't sleep with me or on my bed. I take a medicine only when it's too much to handle, particularly when I do their litter. Other than that, life is pretty easygoing.

Devin should take the solid black cat that threw up to get his heart checked because that's a sign of heart disease (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), especially if there's no food in it and it's just saliva looking stuff. I recently just lost my cat to this and it's important to get it checked out so they can be put on the right meds to prevent congestive heart failure. don't write it off as just acid reflux.

My cats have hairs balls constantly for the last 5 years, my cat before them has them constantly for 13 years before he got lung cancer. That saliva is actually normal to follow a hair ball witch was what was near it. Black cat hairballs look like poop. Also my comment is not for argument. I JUST witnessed a cat get struck by a car and die in the street 5 minutes later, so this video could not have been more timely; it was very nice to see cats alive and happy after witnessing something so horrific. PSA - please drive down suburban streets at a reasonable speed limit please, and try to watch your surroundings. I have no doubt that poor cat would have had a better chance if she wasn't hit at 40mph, or maybe even at all. (Special shout out to the officer who was willing to stop and help two crying girls with the cat).

JazzyNym also PSA - keep your cats inside. Indoor cats have a significantly longer life span. Once you raise even one cat as an indoor cat you'll realize how much better it is for them.

When I still lived with my parents, we had a cat that got run over despite the fact that we lived in the countryside with very few neighbors and very little traffic. Finding him in a ditch when he had been gone unusually long was extremely traumatic. Needless to say, now my parents have a new cat and they've raised him successfully as an indoor cat, and my dad has built a cute enclosure outside with a door leading to our house.

Steph M - True, although I'm fairly certain this was a stray or feral cat. The cat in my picture was an indoor/outdoor cat (and was actually technically feral going by the definition) and we never worried about her getting struck by a car; she died at about 14 of cancer, and another we had died at 17 from age related ailments. So I've never had a hard stance on the issue, since I grew up with indoor/outdoor cats and none died nor had injuries from cars, etc. but it is something I would never consider now, especially living in a city. While it might seem cruel to some, honestly nothing is more horrible than what that cat went through in its last moments so I gotta say I'm firmly on the side of fully indoor/supervised outdoor cat living now.

I loved my roommate’s cat. I’m also allergic so I’ve never had one of my own but I wish I could. But if my friends cat or roommate cat needed a home I’d happily start myself on allergy medication and take them

I am quite severely allergic to cats. My reaction will vary due to the time I spend with them, how fine their fur is, and if my skin feels like over reacting at the moment. I can have anywhere from hives from one brushing up against me to full on allergy attack standing in the same room to just a stuffy nose from sleeping with one. Despite this, cats are amazing and I love them so much.
