@SweetHime3 жыл бұрын
@@AM-pr5hl funny enough I actually linked my Instagram account so they could see what my specific style was like and a couple of accounts within my style. We also were able to give details about what types of florals we liked and I tried to describe simple daisy patterns etc but it seems like thred ups plus size clothing is very dated with their plus size section. Yeah some of the stuff was slightly pastel but not in the style I prefer. which I tried to emphasize at my ending segment that they need to put more effort towards their plus size clothing and starting adding fashionable pieces, as this kinda reiterates why plus size people don’t go thrifting and prefer to find their own clothing.
@AM-pr5hl3 жыл бұрын
@@SweetHime This is a very helpful clarification! In previous Buzzfeed style box videos, it's shared with the audience when participants send their instagram accounts or provide other more specific details to the stylist. Since that was left out, it felt like the online quiz was all everyone did and part of thred up's problem was the fact that they don't have a way to get more detailed information from their clientele. But you're right, turns out they just don't have the goods to back up what they're trying to do.
@woin93613 жыл бұрын
It’s so irritating that plus-sized people have to get excited about the opportunity to tailor a basic item instead of people dazzled by cool pieces that fit their body relatively well from the jump. “Ok, I guess this fits, this will work in terms of fitting onto my body” is not the same thing as “I feel gorgeous in this.” It’s not cool that we rarely get to have that feeling

As a tall plus size woman AND an avid thrifter (literally in there almost 2x a week), I can tell you----go to the thrift yourself and don't do this *ahem* trash box. I've found so many fabulous items in there in my size. In my personal opinion, it is harder to have someone shop for you in general but also as a plus sized woman, you know what you like and how you like things to fit and how to handle any of your body insecurities if you have them, and sadly the online world and these boxes don't really do well with that. I’m plus size and just received my first Goody Box a few days ago. Some of the items I received were ones I would’ve picked in person, and some were way off. Not all of them fit and those that didn’t were from brands I’ve never shopped with before so I probably don’t know my right size with them. And, a personal riff I have with thredUP, some of the items they sell are 10+ years, but are priced pretty high. That being said, the only item I’m keeping is a pair of jeans from Old Navy, a brand I buy a lot of clothes from, that were made in 2011 and are priced at $17.99. I’ve worked at Old Navy, so I know the style is discontinued and not worth that price. Some things this video does not tell you-you have to pay a non-refundable $10 for the box. You have a week to decide and ship things back. If you keep something, the $10 is applied to the item. If you decide to return them all, you lose on your money. Of course, this is only my point of view and experience on the Goody Box. I really love that As/Is did a video that features plus size fashion and the major obstacles we run into.

No thank you, never going back lol I've gained weight over the past year and am truly plus sized now and it really is a shame that it's so god damn rare to find stylish, well fitting clothes for my body size. It just seems like a marketing flaw?? Like, fat girls have money, you idiots! You're doing capitalism wrong xD If you're in Europe, then maybe you wanna try h&m owned fashion brand "monki" - they have clothes up to a european size 46 (their oversized stuff probably 48), they're affordable, they're very on-style as the kids might say, they do not retouch their photos, they regularly use plus size models and don't photoshop them, they are... trying for sustainability. My wardrobe is almost exclusively monki now, and the only jeans to fit me in 15+ years are from monki. They understand how to tailor for curves (a lot of the time at least).
