As an Aussie revert, I’m from a culture where bacon and eggs is the norm! It’s also the go to meal the morning after a night out! I pretty much associated bacon with a hangover! Other than that there was always a ham present at Christmas although it was the least eaten item on the table! Pork was never big really in my family growing up. My mum didn’t like it so we rarely had it. I sometimes use Turkey bacon now in my cooking if I make a carbonara for example. But honestly I do not miss pork or bacon. I’m just grateful Islam found me 🤲

Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah, thank you for sharing 🤲 I've always wondered why hangover food is so greasy and nauseating 😂😂

Assalaamu alaikum. I honestly don't miss it and now looking back, it was gross and fatty - especially bacon! 🤢. I think I used to eat it because it was how I was raised.

Walaikum salam! Haha honestly, same! I remember the first time I had bacon on pizza - later that night I puked 😂😖

Haven't had pork like 10 years before I became a muslim and do nor miss it. I was working in a kitchen back then and one of my colleague told me the food waste goes to feeding the pigs and since then I was like😬 I imagined the pigs eat pork.. a big NOPE!🙅🏻♀️ so becoming a muslim was easy, AlhamdullilLah❤

Oh ew..that IS a big nope!😟 alhamdulillah it wasn't a big change for you then 😂🩷

I never had pork, but low-key, I kinda feel like the duck curry that we have here would be far higher on the food tire list than pork ham or something.
@halalsnackpack2 ай бұрын
Whaa Duck curry?? That sounds so interesting! We've only had seared duck or roasted. Never stewed or curried! Pretty sure its higher on the tier list tho 😂😂

My Chinese muslim friend said pork tasted good, tasted like chicken.. He told me that his father was mualaf, so when he was child he played in village field with village boys.. After he exhausted he went to his non muslim granma house to drink.. He looked there's sauced meat dish on the table so he ate it... And his Granma freakout when she knew my friend ate it. if his dad knew, his dad gonna be upset..luckly his dad wasn't upset But after that event his dad said to him that if he want to visit granma house make sure he doesn't eat anything on table unless drink water or non alcohol softdrink

Not a convert. I repeat I'm not a convert. I'm Arab. I worked in Abu Dhabi, because I have a preference for English over Arabic, I spent more time with other Western teachers. One day we were discussing things we missed from back home. One teacher said "bacon" and said well they have turkey bacon here, and she said, "it's not the same, you know what I mean? You know what I mean?" And she nudged my shoulder with hers, but I had to break it to her that I don't know what real bacon tastes like (and don't care to know).

I've been muslim for almost a decade and I can firmly say that bacon is overated. But Biltong.... Now that's a piece of meat that can shock you to the core. And Alhamdulillah, biltong(if prepared properly) is Halal
@halalsnackpack2 ай бұрын
Alhamdulillah, it really is overrated! Biltong on the other hand 😋
