Is there a reason that the 'l' remains in the definite article for the sun letters? Why doesn't Arabic use two different definite articles for the different words (i.e. Spanish (el/la), Dutch (de/het), ect.)
@nivienhelmy7697
@nivienhelmy7697 6 жыл бұрын
because it has nothing to do with the word being masculine or feminine. It's about the first letter of the noun. Arabic is a unique and rich language and has totally different rules from Latin based languages.
@Crick1952
@Crick1952 6 жыл бұрын
Nivien Helmy I don't doubt that at all. That's why I'm trying to learn it :) I'm just asking so I can understand, and those are the two languages I can speak the best and can use for comparison. So why does the /l/ remain even when it's not pronounced?
@nivienhelmy7697
@nivienhelmy7697 6 жыл бұрын
por sepuesto ! OK ...that's how grammar is. With some letters for easier pronunciation you don't pronounce el or al in full. That's how I explain it to my students : )
@nivienhelmy7697
@nivienhelmy7697 6 жыл бұрын
so you can't drop it because it's still there...you just don't pronounce in full. And anyway if you do pronounce it in full, it's a slight mistake ...no big deal

So... dental and alveolar articulations lead to the complete assimilation of the lam into the gemminated shamsiyeh consonant.
@ivornworrell
@ivornworrell 5 жыл бұрын
*Anita you seem to be somewhat erudite in your medical terminologies but just to make it pellucid, you spelt the word "gemminated" incorrectly (one m too many).After some degree of ambivalence I decided to erase all dubious feelings & pen you this dissertation since it appears to me that your level on medical vocabulary is still in its embryonic stage.*
