Why does it say that a Pastor should be the “husband” of one wife. Same with a deacon. It’s very clear.

Not really clear actually. The same "qualification" is said of deacons and yet Phoebe was called a deacon. The words have very general meanings in the Greek as to a role. Because of this seeming inconsistency we should study this more rather than just citing one verse.

Corinthians 14:34-36 (KJV) 34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. 36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? 1 Corinthians 14:34 Life For Today Study Bible Notes Note 22 at 1 Corinthians 14:34: Most commentators believe this is a reference to Genesis 3:16, which states, “Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.” 1 Corinthians 14:35 Life For Today Study Bible Notes Note 23 at 1 Corinthians 14:35: The command for the women to be under obedience (1 Corinthians 14:34) implies that the object of their obedience is to be their husbands (this verse). It might be better stated by saying, “The women must be submissive to their own husbands.” 1 Corinthians 14:36 Life For Today Study Bible Notes Note 24 at 1 Corinthians 14:36: It is possible that this passage may be saying the very opposite of what it seems to be saying. For example, Paul had already stated in 1 Corinthians 11:5 that women pray and prophesy in the church, so he was not forbidding women from speaking in the church altogether. Some think that Paul was addressing a particular problem of someone being disruptive by noisy discussions in the church. This may possibly be true, but by looking at the context, you can see that Paul was asking a question. This question could be paraphrased something like this: “Women are not to speak in the church. What? Hey guys, do you think that the Word of God originates only with you? Does it come forth only from you?”

Saw this and agree with it Genesis 29:9 “While he was still speaking with them, Rachel came with her father’s sheep, for she was a shepherdess.” Rachel watched over the sheep to make sure they were watered, fed, and safe. This job was usually for men only! God makes exceptions. He does what He wants. Mary Magdalene was the first female preacher who gave the good news. Luke 24:9. If women had to be silent in the church then why would a all knowing God have these women preach the good news of His resurrection? God is not confused. People are in a state of religion. We must study to show yourself approved by God. Paul was writing a letter to a Pastor of a church that had a previous problem. The woman at the well also preached. John 4:39 Huldah 2kings 22:21-20 she not in instructed men but men sought her out to hear from the Lord. Again, you cannot put God in a box. He will always do what he wants. As long as the person is submitted to God and does His will, he can use anyone. Esther was a Queen and was used in a co-governing roll along side her husband. Deborah also was a prophetess and Judge and the kingdom did not move to war without her Word. She was led by God. Many woman are led by God. And many are not and God will judge them. Just as many men are led by God and many are not and God will judge them also. prophet Joel saying, “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy'” (Acts 2:17-18). A woman must submit to her own husband. And her husband is the head of her. If the husband is a Pastor and allows her to help him and Shepperd the women. That is not anyones choice, but the husband. Also is safer in some instances for a shepperdess to deciple other women instead of the husband having one on one time with other women. Many legalistic Pastors have fallen like this. I encourage everyone to read their Bible in the Spirit and let God lead. No name calling only GRACE AND TRUTH.

@@brandibee7058 lol I know you want it to be true but that's not so. Rachel was at the well for a reason not because God was trying to tell you that woman could be pastors. She was there to meet Jacob so he could become his wife. Mary magdalene didn't not preach the Gospel she was told to tell the disciples he was risen and guess what? they didn't believe her. The bible is clear cut and dry on this issue. The woman at the well just told them to come see a man whole told her all about here life and the people believed Jesus not off of what she said but because they talk to him themselves.

Why do many people commenting on here think that if a woman teaches anyone that she is suddenly exercising authority over them? This is not the same thing as the office of the Pastor. When a man teaches another man, does it give him authority over that man? Of course not. It is the same when a woman teaches a man (or another woman) and nowhere in the scripture does it say she cannot teach a man. Teaching has nothing to do with having authority over another human being. It is a gift of the Holy Spirit and is meant to equip, to edify and to impart. We need to drop that authoritarian definition of teaching. It is messing up our theology and causing division in the church. In Acts 18, Priscilla and Aquila taught Apollos, a man. Priscilla was a woman and Paul had no issues with her teaching a man so why do we continue to condemn women teachers in the body of Christ? And 1 Timothy 2:11-12 is dealing with a specific situation that Timothy was dealing with at the church in Ephesus. It was not meant to be a directive for all women for all time. How do I know that? Because we know from other scriptures that Phillip had several unmarried daughters that prophesied (this is not a quiet activity). We also know that other women prayed and prophesied when men were present based on 1 Cor 11:5. We also know that women received the baptism of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost right along with the men. What was the purpose of this baptism? To be imbued with power to be Jesus' witnesses in the earth. Therefore, we know that there are multiple examples of women not only being present in the public gatherings but they were exercising their gifts of ministry too. Why are we so threatened by women using their gifts? We seem to forget that the early church was going through a great time of transition. Think about how hard it is for any of us to accept change. Imagine what it was like for them in a culture where women were purposefully kept ignorant and yet Jesus allowed them to sit at His feet and learn.

@Barnes, I agree. The reason that the majority of Christians have a very wrong concept of God is by despising the Old Testament, not teaching from it, never read it in its entirety. I knew God by studying the Old Testament and He emphatically says of Himself, "I am God, I change not!" So when I now read the New Testament, I do not misunderstand God's grace. I take into consideration that God is both an intensely loving God and a consuming fire!!! Both sides of God need to be understood in order not to "create a god in our own image" and call it the God of the Bible for then we deceive ourselves per 2 Timothy 4:3-4

Here's a breakdown of Andrew's unbiblical interpretation: #1) Andrew claims that the 1 Timothy Passage has the definite article "the". But that's actually not what the Greek says, hence why Andrew is reading from some English translation and not from the greek. In truth, there is no definite article "the", so the correct way of reading it is "I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over man", then Paul continues explaining how this is a universal principle. Also Andrew says the word mean "usurp" authority, but in reality it does not say usurp but exercise in the greek. #2) Andrew claims the Law doesn't lay this out when if fact it does ( Genesis 2:18; Genesis 3:16; 1 Peter 3:1) #3) Andrew equates being a prophetess to that of a leadership position, when there's nowhere in Scripture that says this. He uses Deborah, saying she "went out and lead a war" when in fact she only went to encourage Barak to lead the war. #4) Andrew says that the phrase "husband of one wife" could really be meant for women too, but that is not the case in Greek grammar structure. In this case, the greek more accurately renders this "a one woman kind of man". This is very specific for men, not a general application for humans. Here again we see Andrew completely revealing how little he knows on some of these types of things and the reason he really shouldn't be viewed at as a serious source of scholarship or authority on interpreting biblical text.

I expounded something in the Bible just today to my husband, a man. Why do men hate a woman to tell them anything about God? Does a woman keep silent if the Lord tells her to expound scripture to a lost man, and just let him remain lost? That does not make sense, especially when God does not reside in a building and we, the body, are the church. Conundrums like these are the reason we delve deeper into scripture and try to find out why Paul was saying what he said, what does it mean, and to whom was it meant for.

"The older women should teach the younger... (Titus 2:4-6)." He makes no provision for them to teach men, not just her husband. Notice who Paul says they should teach, or disciple - other younger women. He restricts it to women. See also requirements for elders - always directed to men. And why do women want to teach men, anyway? What is so thrilling about that? Being a prophetess does not mean they disciple men. Not sure why Bro. Andrew makes that connection. Notice also that Jesus had no female apostles, and Jesus often bucked the religious system of his day. If anyone wanted to make changes, it would have been him. Can she share the Gospel? You bet. Can she teach her male children? Yes. Scripture is clear on this (see Proverbs). But to disciple a man in spiritual authority is a man's job.

I'm a very talkative person and by the grace of God, I am spiritually inclined to the word of god... I think it is emotionally and spiritually better for a woman like me to be single missionaries than be involved with a church, much of this argument will cease, if you feel like "silence" is against what you feel like God has gifted you with in terms of the urging within you to teach others, either opt for a woman's only congregation or sell yourself to the Lord and take a decision not to marry and go for fulltime missionary work... both of these are according to the will of God and doesn't contradict the word of God and i have learned through experiencr that it will provide you with no room to feel offended in any way of any men in the church... many women find more solace in women only atmospheres where everyone is equally seen and treated within the boundaries of the bible and aren't emotionally scarred by men out of the will of God, there is very little room for unwanted discrimination and there is much more focus toward God and his individualistic plan for each woman in relation to the kingdom... Paul says it is better for women not to marry and so to focus all she is to the Lord and not anyone else in this world, there is reason for that, she won't have room in her life to worry about her traditional role in worldly terms as a woman, and only room for her role as a disciple of God in the kingdom of Heaven, completely sold out for God's purpose... that's a much more satisfying, self dying way of living, giving no room for bitterness or resentment toward the opposite gender and how they live their lives... if every Christian were single and completely sold out to the Lord, the kingdom would have seen a drastically rapid expansion that's for sure the only downside is procreation though... so in the end, to each to his own, even though staying single is the most effective way you can completely act out your individualistic plan in the kingdom and serving all his people...

Asku J........You can be involved in a church. There are actually churches out there who do support and acknowledge the call and anointing of God on the lives of women. Some of them are lead by men and some of them are lead by women. I have sat in a number of churches who had males as pastors who supported the call of God on the lives of the women in their congregations. The trained, licensed, and ordained these women and treated them simply as ministers just like the sons of God in their congregations. Don't argue with anyone, just gracefully and graciously do what God has called you to do, going where he opens the door for you to do it at.

Don't let another person's belief affect your calling. You can get married and become a missionary together with your husband. There are churches out there that believe in the ministry of women (Titus 2:3-5) (Acts 18:1-3,24-27). There are many judges but few laborers. God will really appreciate if you help in bringing in the harvest of souls (Matthew 9:37-38).

A thought came to me while I prayed about this subject...Esther was in submission to her husband(The King) but decided to break the law which could have resulted in her death penalty by going unannounced to visit the King for the risk of saving her people(The Israelites including her uncle Mordicai), she risked her reputation, and life to get a message out. Women who are called to Pastor like Joyce Meyer's and Stephanie Ike Ofar risk judgment, and religious Phariseecal hatred from people but they spread the Word of God with such love,truth, spirit and grace and God uses them. They have wonderful Godly husbands' who are by their side supporting the ministry in other ways. ◄ 1 Timothy 3 ► King James Bible Qualifications for Overseers 1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) 6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. I wonder why we try soo hard to twist the Word of God to fit our own agendas. Since when did he must be of one wife became she must be of one husband? Woman can be and do anything but not to have AUTHORITY over a man as it was and has been from the beginning of creation. Our families and the world will function better if we get to know our duties Especially in the house of the day Lord.

Brother Andrew might have missed it in this area, but come on guys, let's try to walk in love here. The Bible says to speak the truth in love, and to pray for one another. Instead, some of you guys are ready to write this brother off as a hell bound false teacher. That's one of the biggest problems with the body of Christ today; we're too thirsty to call people out as a false teacher and ship em off to hell. I know unbelievers that are more merciful than that. When Peter was playing the racist against the gentiles, God didn't give up on him. He showed him a vision and then sent him to preach unto gentiles. And even after that he backslid into his own prejudices at which Paul rebuked him. Never once did God or Paul write him off as a false teacher who's going to hell. They loved him, and directed him back to truth. Why can't we do the same here? All throughout the Bible we are taught to love each other, so how is it that there is so much hatred in this comment section. What God are you guys serving?

Paul's comments about women not speaking in church was addressed to married women only. It is the traditions and doctrines of men who have conflated that one scripture into keeping women from full participation in the church. Harmonized scripture shows absolutely that Christ intended women to teach and support the church - including teaching men. It seems to me that the men who complain most about female teaching are not able to mount successful counters to them because they would rather blame women than lead, which is what they are supposed to be doing. And by forcing a "lesser" role on unmarried women, they have cut the church off from the energy, love and support from many of God's children who happen to be daughters! The church is exactly where it is today because men won't lead properly and they discourage women from full participation - due entirely to their own traditions and doctrines, much like the Pharisees.

What about the male pronouns outlined in the qualifications for eldership in 1 Tim 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4? Paul is clearly teaching the office of elder/pastor is reserved for men. In addition, no woman authored scripture, no major prophets were women, etc. They play a role in church but they are to be receivers of instruction and are not to exercise authority over men. With respect, your exegesis is askew...

I agree. The Greek for husband of one wife means someone who doesn't commit adultery, someone who is loyal to their spouse, someone who doesn't have more than one wife, etc. I agree with you that if someone has a hard time handling their marriages, they might not be the best fit for leading a church. Pastors are not required to be married (Paul and Timothy were pastors of churches and were never married.), but pastors are required to be good husbands if they are married. Husband of one wife doesn't mean pastors have to be married since the Greek for husband of one wife means someone who doesn't commit adultery, someone who don't commit polygamy, etc. When Paul explains in 1 Timothy how pastors need to be people who are the husband of one wife, a good father to their children, honest, trustworthy, gentle, a good role model, spiritually mature, loving, caring, etc, Paul is trying to make the point how pastors need to be people with good Christian character, and Paul is explaining what good Christian character is.

80% of divorces are instigated by woman so what are men supposed to do? it says what God has joined together let no man separate. God doesn't recognize divorce unless one our both commit adultery. So if a woman serves the man papers that means nothing until she goes out and starts dating a guy and inevitably sleeps with him then it's ok for him to remarry because she is the adulterer.

Thank you for your question, Michael. We are happy to assist you. Andrew is referring to 1 Corinthians 7:39: "The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth..." Andrew is making the point that under the law, wives were to be in subjection to their husbands. Andrew points out that a wife's subjection to her husband was included in the law as well as the ability for women to be in authority, including Deborah, Huldah and Miriam who were prophetess. Thus, the law instructed women to submit to their husbands; however, did not limit women not to teach or have authority as we see in the examples given. I know the answer, just curious to see what Pastor Womack would say and I have to be disappointed by it as well. His explanation doesn't make sense. Bible would have said husband if it were the case hes explaining. You cant have authority over your husband but you can for the congregation your leading as a woman. Not everyone is gonna get it right when it comes to scripture, what matters is the gospel. If you get that wrong, then your in trouble.

"Jehovah Himself gives the saying: The women telling the good news are a large army." Psalms 68: 11. Speaking about Scripture in the general community is a gift from God. Aren't we thankful that Jehovah is Just, and we are not under the control of the Taliban. It is those who haven't heard these things that need to hear these things the most. Sounds like he doesn't want to offend any possible regular financial contributor's. Pity that, he is pretty sound but this is error 101. It is a commandment of the Lord. Jesus said. If you love Me you will keep my commands. The Holy Spirit through Paul says. Any man who does not recognise that a woman is not to have authority in the fellowship, that man is no longer recognised in the Ministry by God, he is not to be recognised!!! As Andrew would say. You have to let the bible get in the way of what you think. Andrew has sold out here, alas!

It doesn't say "the man" in verse 12. It uses the Greek word "andros" which means "a man" or "man", if there's no Greek word "tou" (the) prior to man. See 1 Corinthians 11:12 for example. Furthermore, 1 Timothy explains the reason for the letter in 1 Timothy 3:14-16 which is for how people will know to conduct themselves in the household of God (not in a marriage). Let's not miss that. "Husband of one wife" isn't referring to mankind because there's contrast to wife. The word for man in the Greek never means mankind when there's contrast to wife/woman. Also, it's not just a play on words because 1 Timothy 5:9-10 uses the same Greek construct but reversed "wife of one husband" when talking about female widows. It's a gender specific designation for man. Lastly, the marriage relationship of Adam and Eve is not the reference here. It's about the order of creation and Eve being deceived, which is a reference to all men and women, not just husbands and wives. I recommend that everyone who has watched this video to please go re-read the scriptures and study it more in depth.

Andrew Wommack... You've almost got it right. However, 1 Cor 14:34-35 is not a quotation from the Old Testament at all. instead, it's a quotation from "them of old time"... the original Rabbis of the Pharisee sect. Their sayings were passed down orally in the first century, and were binding on all Pharisees. The oral tradition was put into writing in the 2nd century... today we know it as the first part of what the Jews call the "Mishnah." And in the Mishnah, we have the exactly wording of "the law" quoted by Paul in 1 Cor 14. So what's going on here? Is Paul referring to the Pharisaical law, to try to make a point? NO. What is going on, is that 1 Corinthians was written as an answer to the church's previous letter to Paul, which we no longer have. That lost letter was full of questions. 1 Corinthians quotes from that lost letter, and answers the quotes. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 are not instructions from Paul. Those verses are questions from the church to Paul, which Paul is quoting from that letter. And Paul is answering the question! Look at the context, and especially at the verse immediately following the quote. Paul is talking about the gifts of the spirit, and how they are to operate in the church. He has just finished saying that you ALL may prophesy, so that ALL may learn and ALL may be encouraged. Every one of those 3 "ALL"'s must be interpreted the same way. That's a basic rule of Bible interpretation. Therefore, "all" who are to be learning and encouraged, are the "all" who are to allowed to prophesy. Are women excluded from learning? From encouragement? Of course not! Then they must also be allowed to prophesy! Now, look at the verse immediately following the quote in question. "WHAT?" (This is a Greek word that ALWAYS means ONLY opposition to an idea just spoken. It's a disjunctive conjunction: linking too opposing ideas. Therefore, what comes after the "what?" is directly opposed to what came before the "what?". And Paul says , "What? did the word of God come out from you? Or came it unto you only?" Now, evidently, somebody was trying to shut somebody else up. Forbidding them to prophesy. Verses 34-35 says some men were trying to make all the women shut up. And Paul's answer is very clear: NO WAY. Did the Word-made-flesh come out of a man? No. He came out of a woman. Did the Word spoken by God come only to males? No. Salvation is for both male and female. God has always used women, down through the centuries, in both old and new testaments, as much as males would allow Him to. (They limited the Holy One of Israel.) We have Scripture that was inspired through women, in both old and new testaments! You see, the Pharisees had such a low view of women they came up with a different Temple layout, from how God instructed Moses. God never forbade women from coming alongside men, into the Temple. God even used women as singers and worship leaders in Temple worship. God did lay the heavy work of temple sacrifice, on the men, because men are physically stronger, and it's very hard work, to be offering sacrifices one after another, all day long! But God never called for a "women's court" as existed in Jesus' day. That was all the work of the Pharisees, trying to shut women out and shut them down. Judaizers were always following Paul around, trying to pollute the early church with legalism. Pharisaism. How horrible that Paul's quote from the Mishnah is enforced by men in the church, while Paul's answer to that quote is ignored altogether.

Even if this flimsy argument is right, it does nothing to the overwhelming testimony of scripture that leadership is for men. How many women apostles did Jesus appoint?
@pollyjetix2027
@pollyjetix2027 4 жыл бұрын
@@555pontifex The church has been in denial for millennia of the evidence in Scripture concerning women in church leadership. No, Jesus didn't appoint women to the 12, and we don't know why. The reasons could have been cultural. Actually, this cultural pressure against certain male preachers happened in the United States 100 years ago. In the early Pentecostal movement, blacks and whites sat together and preached from the same pulpits .. but the blacks were threatened with lynching (by local baptists) if they didn't leave the white Pentecostal church. The early Pentecostal church was fully integrated. But cultural pressure forced it into a model less than what God wanted, due to safety concerns. Mary sat at Jesus' feet, as he taught his 12 disciples. In that culture, women did not mingle with men. Especially did a woman not sit at the feet of a Rabbi! That place was always reserved for a rabbi's star pupil, whom he had chosen to succeed him, as rabbi. Martha is scandalized, because she reflects cultural norms. Women belonged in the kitchen, serving the men. As the MEN sat separately, discussing the Scriptures. But Jesus reproves Martha. Mary was free to sit as an equal among the 12, and even to occupy the seat of one chosen for future leadership! There are quite a few women church leaders in the New Testaments, besides the women leaders in the Old, such as Deborah, Huldah, Miriam, etc. But of course, the Catholic church worked very hard to train Christian thought in a way Christ never intended... in many ways. Catholics operate out of a "top-down" authoritarian approach. Jesus called this "worldly" and antithetical to true Christianity, in Matthew 20:25-28. The whole male grasp for power and domination over women, is rooted in pride. It didn't happen until after the fall. That's why God warned Eve "He shall rule over thee." Just like every "curse" spoken to Adam was nothing but a warning of bad consequences of sin (and Adam was free to counter every one!) Even so, every "curse" spoken to Eve was nothing but a warning of bad consequences of sin. Adam wanted to rule over her, because he had partaken of Lucifer's pride, wanting to exalt his own throne, also. Prior to the fall, Adam and Eve were equally given dominion over Creation. Genesis 1:27-28 Adam was never given dominion over Eve. He usurped that.

As in all the churches of the saints, the women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says. Paul's prohibiting of women teaching men is found in his instructions for the church. Not going back to Adam and Eve. And his other instruction is that an Elder, which is teacher, is to be the husband of one wife. That negates a woman being a teacher. You can't comare women prophets as being the same as teachers. Paul clearly makes a distinction between the two. Ephesians 4:11-16 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; It's amazing how there is such a never ending amount of these apostate teachers tickling the ears of those that need justification for rejecting certain Scriptures. The more ears that are tickled, the more money that comes into their pockets.

On theEdge i do not hate women. I just believe what the Bible says. It is consistent through out the Bible. I highly respect women and they have their tasks just as men do in the kingdom of Heaven... See you are getting emotional and jumping to conclusions... read the Bible and see how consistent this is... argue with the bible.... 1 Timothy 3 King James Version (KJV) 3 This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) 12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 1 corinthians 14 33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. 36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? 37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. Daughters can prophesy and not be the leader of a church.... As far as women speaking in church i believe this tends to something pertaining to married women talking during church. I do not believe a man should interrupt the teacher as a women should not either. I hold to leadership roles are only for men. Women can prophesy to other women, or even in certain situations men. i think it is more appropriate for women to teach women in certain situations. Women teach children. They should never be a pastor or leader in the church. Any man think he is a prophet? Did it say any woman? it is very consistent with men being in a leadership position in the church and for anyone to take this any other way is ridiculous. This is not men hating women. Women have roles in the home we do not. We are not created equal regardless if we are one in Christ or not. Men cant bare children. Man was created first and then woman come from man, for man to not be alone and to bear fruit and multiply. this in no way means we treat women like a slave.. How does it mean you are a slave? We are to love them as Christ loved the church. Paul says God is over Jesus. Jesus is over man. Man is over woman. Jesus is over man and woman. Why is it that women are to be in subjection to the man and not the man to the woman? Because this is the order God set out even before sin. Adam was born first. As far as single women go, they can ask anyone questions. this cultural excuse they use is dangerous to me. Did the word of God come from your mouth? DId it come from Andrew's mouth? No. Paul said this is a commandment from the Lord... If you have a problem obeying God's Word then you will understand why eve sinned first. She felt the same way. this is how the devil tempted her attending to her pride in the position she was given. He tempted by saying she could be equal to God because she would know what He does, Adam seen she didnt die and took of teh fruit also after her. they both sinned, but eve sinned first. She was tempted by the devil, and Adam was tempted by her. The reason i will not give into this being ok is because i will not give in to a woman tempting me to go against God's Word..like Adam. I have already been down that road and it was not good.

Many people think that when the Bible says in 1 Timothy 3:2 how pastors have to be the husband of one wife that it means that pastors have to be married. It's not a sin for single people to be pastors. Paul and Timothy were pastors of churches, and they were never married. The Greek word for husband of one wife in 1 Timothy 3:2 means one woman man. When the Bible says how pastors need to be the husband of one wife, it means that pastors need to be people who don't commit adultery, need to be people who don't cheat on their spouse if they are married, etc. 1 Timothy 3:2 is about the qualifications of being a pastor. 1 Timothy 3:2 explains how pastors need to be able to teach the word of God effectively, have good temperaments, are honest, are trustworthy, are good role models, don't commit adultery, have good self control, love the Lord, are responsible, have good character, etc. There's many Christians who think it's a sin for women to be pastors, and there's many Christians who think it's not a sin for women to be pastors. It's not sexist to think it's a sin for women to be pastors. I don't believe that people who think it's a sin for women to be pastors are sexists. The reason why Christians vary significantly in their opinion about whether or not it's a sin for women to be pastors is because 1 Timothy 2:12 is an extremely difficult verse to interpret. 1 Timothy 2:12 is considered one of the most difficult verses in the Bible to interpret which explains why there's a lot of varying opinions on the women preacher issue. I don't believe it's a sin for women to be pastors. 1 Timothy 2:12 says that "I don't permit a woman to have spiritual authority over a man". On the surface and at face value, it seems like that verse is restricting women from being pastors, which is why I understand why many Christians think it's a sin for women to be pastors. You can't always interpret a Bible verse at face value. For example, when the Bible says in Hebrews 8:12 that when you ask God to forgive your sins, he remembers your sin no more, that verse doesn't mean that God literally forgets the sins you commit; it means that God doesn't dwell on the issue anymore. God doesn't forget anything. When interpreting Bible verses, it's important to look at the context of the verse, the Greek, the Hebrew, etc in order to understand what the verse is saying. The Greek word for permit in 1 Timothy 2:12 means epitrepo which means a temporary situation, a non universal circumstance, temporary in regards to permitting, not a normal circumstance, etc. The Greek word for authority in 1 Timothy 2:12 is authentein, which means dominion authority, and pastoral authority is considered dominion kind of authority. The book of Timothy is about Timothy ministering to the church of Ephesus. Certain things in Timothy are universal principles that apply today, and certain things in Timothy are cultural specific principles that don't apply today. The Bible verse in Timothy about women not having braided hair is a cultural specific situation that doesn't apply today. Timothy is a Bible book about Timothy ministering to the people in Ephesus and Paul helping Timothy minister to Ephesus. Ephesus had a problem with women teaching other women the false doctrine of Gnosticism, women teaching how women are superior to men, women teaching other people how Eve was created before Adam, women teaching how Eve was superior to Adam, etc, which is why women were restricted from being pastors at churches in Ephesus. Paul restricted women from pastoring churches in Ephesus to cut down on women spreading false doctrine in Ephesus. The issue about women not being allowed to be pastors is not a universal principle; it's a cultural specific principle.

@@tiathompson6674 because God says in his word, that He is not a man that he should lie nor a son of man that he should repent and change his mind. all scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit. I'm sure you have read the teachings of the Apostle Paul as far as the authority and structure ordained in the churches Also there is something about women where we are prone to deception. Just go back to the garden of Eden. Even the Bible tells us clearly that Eve was deceived but Adam was not. The problem is women do not want to come under the authority that Christ Himself established in the church. Just like the curse that we received when Adam and Eve fell, it's still in effect and women are still resisting authority, authority that God ordained himself in the body of Christ. When it comes to the body of Christ, every leadership position or positions of authority are specifically listed to be filled by men. It's kind of like the military. Which I was in for almost 12 years. You have officers who are above the enlisted. You have Sergeant who are above privates. There has to be a heirarchy in order to maintain perfect order. function. when women choose to rebell against what is clearly been ordained by Jesus Christ, then a woman is rebelling directly against Christ.

Being politically correct is one thing and biblically correct is another thing. Somehow, if you preach a wrong gospel, you will have to answer the Lord. Ask the Holy Spirit, not Andrew. You will find the right answers. The Lord is a Lord of order, not chaos.

By the way "politically correctness" simply and only means : behave accordingly to laws and social standards (politeness, traditions) !

And we should listen to a man explain this? And why? Man is the 6, the number of the beast. Why? Because he did not obey God. Women have to preach, teach and spread the gospel because man is not faithful to God.

"I do not permit a woman to preach OR to exercise authority over a man." Not: I do not permit a woman to exercise authority over "her" man by preaching. It is not her role, as Paul points out.

@cjordan7284, does the “I” make a difference. This clearly Apostle Paul speaking here and he did the same in I Cor 7 on the topic of marriage. Thus isn’t he saying this is not God’s command but what he won’t permit. Also, somebody mentioned that Apostle Paul was addressing a particular couple and not the whole church in this instance.

1 Corinthians 14: 33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
