In this episode, Dickey answers a few questions about how to Wash N Go during the winter:
- What does Dickey suggest if you don't like going to bed with wet hair?
- What does a Wash N Go during winter look like?
For people with curly to kinky hair (3C-4C textures), regular Wash N Go's will help you stay moisturized throughout the cold season and keep your natural hair healthy, soft, and elongated. Dickey also encourages cowashing your hair for wash n go styling at the time of day that is most convenient for you - morning or night. To avoid going to bed with wet hair during the winter, dry your hair at night, tie it down, and take care of the styling in the morning.
You can even use Hair Rules' Hydrating Finishing Balm to seal in the moisture and keep your hair hydrated during the cold months! Shop our best finishing products for natural hair and more through the link below:

@@browniebun I totally understand. I forced myself to sign up to compete in a triathlon which requires me to swim 5 days a week. I knew that I could no longer have a relaxer because of the damage it would do by swimming 5x a week. I am in for life. Yes, I do the daily after swimming but I go to the pool as 4pm and my hair dries before 8pm.

I am a 4B girl, and the way I make my way through the winter months is to do almost exactly as he said. I style my hair at night and sit under the dryer. Since my hair will be a matted mess the next morning if I just tie it down, I twist it up before I tie it down for the night. The next morning, I take down the twists and spritz my hair with a little water to separate the curls. I finish by blow drying my hair on warm setting, fluff and go! It takes about 30 minutes total from start to finish.

Hi Mr. Dickey. Do you have any 4c hair clients that have experienced hair thinning due to blood pressure medicine? If so, what advice did you share with those clients as far as hair products, styling techniques etc. Based on what I've learned about the different textures of black hair it looks like to me I have 4c hair. I can tell my at the crown of my head that my hair has thinned out quite a bit since I've been on blood pressure medicine. I still have a head full of hair which I thank God for but the thinning is very noticeable to me. My hair is very uneven and I have not had a trim in probable about 2 years. I appreciate your educational videos. Thank you

I purchased a hooded dryer and it was the best investment. I like it better than a diffuser. When I use a diffuser it seems that I disturb my curl definition. It could be that I don't know how to use it correctly, but sitting under a hair dryer doesn't disturb my curls at all.

Sorry but I disagree! I am 4b/4c and I wear my wash n go for two weeks. I used to wear it for 1 week but decided it was too much manipulation for my kinky hair. Plus, I was rewashing my hair when it still looked good on day 7, so I started stretching it out to 2 weeks. This has made my life so much easier because it takes so long to do 4c hair. My hair has been doing just fine wearing my wash n go for two weeks. I even like it better after the first week because it is fuller. I think you probably have to use a strong hold gel to make it to two weeks, but I make my own and use flax seed gel. My hair has been thriving. You have to find what works for you. Also, you have to make sure your hair is moisturized well if you want to wear your wash n go for a long time. I put a lot of oils in my Flax seed gel and use a good leave in before I put in the gel. In the winter I re-moisturize with an oil almost everyday.

Moya B I spritz my hair with water, then lightly apply a cream leave in before applying my oil when I remoisturize. Sometimes I skip the leave in and just use water and an oil depending on how my hair feels. If my hair feels good already I might just apply some oil without the water for some shine and nutrients.
