Took me years to find a regimen for my hair that allowed me to retain length! Years😩 but I think I finally got it down. Yes, dusting my ends on a regular basis made all the difference in the world!
@jeanetteterry93865 жыл бұрын
Sister I do it regularly too., dusting very frequently. I moisturize my hair daily, comb it gently and assess it everyday to see what does it need. I refuse to put heat on my hair or blow dry it. There are multiple things that can add up to length retention. Weekly deep conditioning. Applying aloe/water, oil, shaebutter mixtures are very helpful. Protective styling is important as well. With all of these efforts length retention is achievable. # Happy Hair, Happy Life!

Dry hair leads to breakage. Always apply oils, water, moisture! Sleep with a silk scarf or bonnet. Pantene BB cream- Ultimate 10 is light weight and soften the hair strands and provides moisture. I use daily. Good luck.

You spoke nothing but the truth. My hair has never been longer than just past my shoulders. I never quite understood why, but attributed it to coats our clothes rubbing against my hair and creating split ends that I wasn't cutting. I started wearing protective styles and started manipulating my hair less and less once I became very ill. My 4C hair was extremely brittle and dry and felt awful. I had that yucky dry lupus and autoimmune hair with bald patches and couldn't do anything with it. I found the perfect regimen for me and now my hair is soft, and almost down to my waist. My hair has never been this long EVER!!!!. Even with shrinkage my hair is quite long. I love my hair!!!❤❤💜💜💛💙💛💛💕♥♥♥

This video has really helped me! This is my second adventure into my Natural Hair Journey and I have just discovered that my problem is largely the way I handle my hair more so than finding the right products. I am working through the second go round of my journey and have found that products just sit on my hair but yet it feels really dry (I think that is an indicator to low porosity hair type - gotta do some research). I have learned patience and endurance and I am hoping in 3 months I will see a difference in either volume or length. Fingers crossed. :) Thanks again for this post and I am looking at your others as well to make this adventure a successful one.

I'm so very glad to see this new series from Dickey. I've watched your old vids over and over wringing every last drop of information from them. QUESTION FOR FUTURE VID: How do I best cater to different porosity levels in my hair? My nape area curls on its own, holds moisture well, and does what I tell it to do. My low porosity temple edges, on the other hand, are VERY resistant to ANY liquids and creams, even water immediately drips.This leads to dryness and breakage. Only the steam room seems to allow even conditioners to penetrate. My edges seem to act well to penetrating oils on damp hair...but that leaves me "spot treating" my edges daily. Your thoughts?

Thank you so much for these important videos. I have a variety of different texture hair from 3b/c/4a. I am really into learning how to grow my hair healthier and longer. I have been natural for several years now. Not knowing what products to use. I have now gone with natural aryuvedic oils route. Which had been working. I would like to know how to style my natural hair better than just leaving down or in a bun. I wash my hair every 4-6 days. Due to my busy schedule. Any recommendations on styles also is it ok to leave your hair out for every wash and go? How would I know what type of texture hair that I have just for my reference? So I may know which product to use? Thanks so again for taking time out making these videos I am glued to these videos !! Super important to me. Many blessings.

Hello Dickey, I just wanted to say I love your videos. Your videos are informational and inspirational. My long-term friend and hairdresser just cut 4 to 5 inches of my hair off without any type of style, completely uneven and chopped up leaving me with 3 to 4 inches of hair. I have type 4 finely textured hair that is thriving NOW from my daily Co washing. It's so uneven I'm not wearing it out, just trying to grow it out until I can do something different with it. Thanks for all you do.

He's actually right. Science proves that no matter the texture, hair grows on average 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch a month. That's not alot. Nobody's hair is growing 6 inches a month or even 2 inches a month. So an average, science is correct.

I believe it does! But, split ends, as well as other damage that leads to breakage , will naturally HALT that growth.That is why so many women may believe that their hair does NOT grow as much as others. That's all.

My hair started growing at a rapid rate, I got excited and the Tom foolery kicked in. I put a henna on my hair left it in for two hairs, forgot to shampoo, did a cowash instead and then put a deep conditioning mask on it. Now my hair is soo hard and when I use my wide tooth comb to detangle and my hair is coming out with every stroke. Is there anything I can do so that my hair can recover from my mistakes? 👀 I have 4c hair and it doesn’t react well to protein. Love you, love your work ❤️

Hi I enjoy your channel and respect your opinion on afro hair. I recently watched a video by Natural Nadine she states that most African American hair is high porosity by nature, when a lot of us are thinking our hair is low porosity (if it hasn't been relaxed or color treated). She references crime scene investigations where police can determine the race of a suspect based on their hair noting that most African American hair has raised cuticles ( high porsity). Please comment on this and tell me your opinion. Thank You! P.S. - I think this topic would make a great video.

My rule of thumb is if you are going to wear your hair straight at any time it's best to get a blow out and have it cut that way. If you wear your hair curly or natural most of the time, a trim in that state will not hurt it. That way if the stylist doesn't know what they're doing you won't notice a bad trim so much. That's my experience.
@TRUTHTEACHER20076 жыл бұрын
Baby, how do wash and goes elongate your hair? How is it a protective style? My hair is nipple length. Wash and go, just touching my shoulders. No matter what your texture, wash and goes will still experience shrinkage. Wash and goes will experience tangles, period. Proper maintenance can minimize them. But you go to bed in a wash and go without putting it up and wearing a scarf. See what happens when you wake up.

I realized I’ve had extremely dry hair my whole life. I started watching Dickey’s videos and started cowashing daily. Unfortunately with the thickness and density of my hair, it’s too time consuming to manipulate it daily because it is also too short to bun so I’ll be wearing protective styles with more knowledge of how to keep it moisturized and soft. I have low porosity and have cut out silicones and am making sure to style my hair when it’s wet with warm water.
